Now reading: Chapter 411: The Broken Negotiation from The Hidden Extra: The Lazy Prince Refuses to Ascend The Throne, a Fantasy novel by SatouKazumaDesu.

"I will move on to the third condition," Nolan said indifferently. "This is the final one, and once it is fulfilled, we will settle the issue of the white dragon."

His words made Glarvic and Leina relax slightly. Ever since their defeat in the Sevarn Port negotiations, they no longer had the confidence to resist any of the other conditions.

In the end, Nolan had controlled the negotiations from start to finish, leaving Glarvic and Leina feeling powerless.

Who would have thought that the prince known for being stupid would turn out to be this capable?

Had they known earlier, they might have reconsidered asking the Great Velmora Empire for help.

If they had turned to another power, the conditions might not have been this harsh.

However, the two of them understood that there was no way out, and they could only accept everything placed before them.

Otherwise, making the Great Velmora Empire their enemy would be disastrous.

"Please tell us, Prince," Glarvic said seriously.

Nolan didn’t answer right away. He leisurely sipped his tea, making the atmosphere quiet and tense.

Even Cassiopeia, Draco, and Sharon couldn’t help feeling nervous.

After seeing Nolan’s skill in the negotiations, they were even more impressed—especially Cassiopeia, who had never expected Nolan to beco the central pillar of this entire discussion.

Until now, she had only viewed Nolan as a re extra.

Inevitably, she had to reevaluate his abilities. Underestimating him was no longer sothing she dared to do.

Second by second passed, and finally Nolan sat up straight and said, "Our final demand is ownership of twenty-five percent of the southeastern region of the Kingdom of Kaldarion."

The mont those words were spoken, Glarvic and Leina were stunned in disbelief.

Anger flashed across Glarvic’s face as he glared sharply at Nolan.

"Your Highness, this request is far too excessive. Giving twenty-five percent of the southeastern region to the Great Velmora Empire is the sa as giving away our own flesh. That is impossible," Glarvic rejected firmly.

Unlike the matter of Sevarn Port, this demand was completely beyond what he could tolerate.

It must be understood that a sovereign kingdom cannot allow a foreign power to control its territory—even if it is only a small portion.

Although he was willing to cooperate with the Great Velmora Empire, surrendering even a small piece of land was out of the question.

Hearing his refusal, Nolan wasn’t surprised at all. In this world, free trade was still considered taboo.

After all, every major power on this continent had both open and hidden conflicts with one another.

Not to ntion that most of them harbored ambitions to conquer their neighbors—even their so-called allies.

This situation reminded Nolan of the dieval era in his previous world, when tyrants ruled and constantly tried to conquer each other.

But in the modern world, free trade exists.

Countries open their economies to one another, which accelerates global growth.

"Don’t be too quick to refuse, Your Majesty," Nolan said calmly. "Hear us out first."

Leina, standing beside Glarvic, frowned and said, "Speak quickly and clearly, Prince. If you’re just stalling and angering my king, you’ll only make the atmosphere worse."

Realizing his intention had been exposed, Nolan couldn’t help but laugh.

"I’m sorry, I didn’t an to." He put on an innocent expression.

Leina rolled her eyes, as if saying, "I’m not falling for that."

"All right, I’ll state my intention directly," Nolan continued firmly. "To be honest, we don’t want the territory for full control or to build a military base. What we want is permission for mining operations."

"Mining operations?" Glarvic and Leina were shocked and exchanged glances.

"Yes, mining," Nolan repeated. "According to our information, the southeastern region of your kingdom has abundant resources—one of which is high-quality Netherium."

Hearing this, both of their hearts began to race.

"High-quality Netherium?" Glarvic took a deep breath to calm himself but failed.

Of course he knew about Netherium. It was a rare and valuable material believed to enhance any weapon in the world, especially magical ones.

Its rarity made it extrely sought after.

He never expected such a precious ore to exist in his own kingdom.

But then, sothing in Nolan’s words struck him as strange.

He narrowed his eyes and asked, "Where did you get that information? And why don’t I—or the Kingdom—know anything about it?"

Leina also regained her composure and looked at Nolan warily.

Sharon, who had been silent all this ti, finally spoke. "It’s a secret, Your Majesty. But we can guarantee that we did not use underhanded thods such as sending spies to the Kaldarion Kingdom."

Glarvic gave a cynical smile. "You say you didn’t send spies? Princess, don’t take for a fool. There’s no way you could have obtained that information without sending spies into my kingdom."

He truly disliked the hypocrisy of both the prince and the princess.

Sharon didn’t respond. In truth, she was lying.

Her own father had told her that the information ca from spies he planted long ago.

"That’s not important. What matters now is whether you accept our terms or not," Nolan cut in calmly.

Glarvic and Leina fell deep into thought. After a mont, Leina lifted her head and declared, "We refuse. Since those natural resources are in our territory, we will manage them ourselves, and all the profits will belong to us."

Glarvic remained silent beside her, clearly agreeing.

Cassiopeia, Draco, and Sharon were furious at their shalessness. Nolan had revealed such an important secret to them, yet they wanted everything for themselves.

But unlike the three of them, Nolan showed no anger.

Instead, he smiled faintly and asked, "Are you sure?"

Leina didn’t hesitate at all. "Yes, I’m sure."

"Good." Nolan clapped his hands and stood up. He glanced at Cassiopeia and Draco, then said, "We’re leaving."

The three of them were confused. The negotiations weren’t finished, and they hadn’t even secured the mining rights yet.

But why was Nolan asking them to leave?

As confused as they were, the three said nothing. They stood up and left the parlor with Nolan.

This ti, it was Glarvic and Leina who were stunned.

"Your Majesty, should we stop them?" Leina asked hesitantly.

If they left like this, the issue of the white dragon would remain unresolved.

"No need." Glarvic sneered. "This actually works in our favor. After hearing their conditions, I realized that asking the Great Empire of Velmora for help was a foolish mistake. They’re far too greedy. I can’t accept that."

"On the contrary..." He grinned. "We’ve obtained valuable information about our southeastern region. We’ll start mining imdiately and extract the Netherium for ourselves. As for the white dragon, I’ll ask the Tower of Silence for assistance."

High-quality Netherium was incredibly valuable—more valuable than any other mineral in the world.

If they managed to secure it, the Kingdom of Kaldarion would surely prosper.

Leina nodded lightly. Yet for so reason, her instincts told her that things would not be that simple.
