Hui Niang stepped back repeatedly, nearly losing her balance.

The words "beast" made her eyes redden, and her fingertips trembled with anger.

She couldn’t bear to hear Zhuang i’s insults towards Wei Shen.

"Don’t bully people too much."

With Zhuang i’s commotion, everyone looked over.

However, Zhuang i was not ashad but proud, raising her chin high.

"Mother lives with us, but we don’t see you giving us any money for filial piety. How could you have the face to ask? Mother isn’t only Shoucai’s son!"

"I want to see what you bought!"

Zhuang i rushed over and uncovered the basket Hui Niang had covered with cloth.

When she saw a few bones stripped of at and the humble pig intestines inside, her eyes filled with disdain, and she backed away in disgust.

"These unwanted things, how can you even eat them? What, have you run out of money? Ready to cry poverty again?"

"I’m telling you, don’t co to the main house to borrow money; we don’t want to fill your bottomless pit."

She deliberately intimidated Hui Niang: "I thought you were pitiful, so I was willing to take a loss. But with everyone here today, I’m putting it out here, once Wei Shen dies, even if you kneel and beg , I won’t agree to adopt a son for you again."

These words stabbed at people’s hearts.

Hui Niang’s face turned pale.

And just then, a clear and delightful laughter was heard.

Everyone looked over in bewildernt.

Yu Tingwan said carelessly, "Sorry."

"I couldn’t help it when I saw soone so shaless."

Zhuang i glared at her.

She knew Yu Tingwan’s sharp tongue. Just as she was about to curse, she was pulled back by Mrs. Wang, who ca to buy pig’s blood.

"Don’t stoop to her level."

Mrs. Wang sneered, "She didn’t ntion you, and if you care about it, she’ll just lightly say she wasn’t talking about you, and you’ll be the joke."

She understood all too well Yu Tingwan’s cunning tricks!!!

Zhuang i listened and thought it made sense.

But Yu Tingwan mumbled slowly.

"But..."

She played by her own rules: "I was talking about her."

Mrs. Wang: ???

Zhuang i: !!!

She rolled up her sleeves, "You little bitch..."

The Village Chief ca out of the house.

"What’s all the noise?"

The only ones here not giving face to Zhuang i are Yu Tingwan and the Village Chief. Yu Tingwan because of her stubbornness, and the Village Chief due to his age and status.

"Was Wan Niang wrong before? Have you forgotten how you knelt on the ground begging Hui Niang back then? Aren’t you ashad!"

"You didn’t want your son drafted into the army, so you paid the governnt office’s constable who ca to register to drink and directly put your nephew’s na on the list. If I didn’t bring up the past, had you forgotten? How dare you argue with her here?"

His words reminded the older won.

Back then, it was a snowy day.

Zhuang i was nowhere near as overbearing as today. She rarely groveled, kneeling until almost collapsing in front of Hui Niang.

["It was my fault, but I had no choice. The army is so tough, and a slip of the eye ans losing your life. Your son Wei Shen is lively and athletic, obviously a good prospect for martial arts."]

The ever-gentle Hui Niang went crazy, raising her hand and smacking her hard.

["So it’s my Lang’s fate?]

["You couldn’t bear to send your own son to death, so you pushed my Lang out there?]

Wei Shen was two years younger than Wei Qintian.

Zhuang i’s face changed.

"That... that was years ago, what’s the point in bringing it up?"

Seeing this, people shook their heads repeatedly.

"So she does have a guilty conscience."

"Wei Family’s Lang has been back for a while now, and they haven’t visited from the main house. It’s really despicable."

"Yes, Qintian is married now and already a father. Yet his cousin was injured so badly..."

As long as it didn’t involve personal interests, the Village Chief was particularly fair, willing to uphold justice.

He frowned, "What you do will be seen by the heavens, aren’t you afraid of retribution? You don’t inherit from an extinct lineage this way."

Zhuang i complained, "It’s just won’s quarrels, nothing major."

"You are the village chief, and this isn’t your matter to manage."

The Village Chief was unfazed, disinclined to argue with soone so unreasonable.

"If you’re not satisfied, let your man co and debate with !"

"And your mother-in-law too. The young Wei of the Wei Family needs rest, does she have to go disturb them daily acting as the grandmother?"

Zhuang i couldn’t bear the slight; she stomped her feet and threatened Hui Niang.

"You wait and see."

What makes the Village Chief so special!

She turned and ran off, intending to gather so support.

Yu Tingwan was thoughtful.

It was clear from these days how much Wei Shouzhong and his wife valued Wei Shen.

She was just puzzled.

"If the na was wrong, you could report it to the governnt office."

Then why did Wei Shen end up on the list?

Li Lian, nearby, shook her head upon hearing this: "It’s not so simple."

Seeing the girl’s eyes as bright as autumn water looking over, Li Lian was willing to explain: "Back then, Shoucai and his wife and Mrs. Wei kept it all under wraps."

When the ti ca, those listed had to go to the governnt office, and the office would send them up in unison.

For assembly and training, various camps would dispatch people to choose, and if selected, they would be taken away.

"On the day we went to the governnt office, it was the main house’s couple who accompanied them. Mrs. Wei said as brothers, let Wei Shen also go to see them off."

Who would’ve thought there’d be tricks and sches involved?

No one expected that Wei Shen would never co back.

While Wei Qintian, who was supposed to be conscripted, returned ho with his parents.

"By the ti Hui Niang rushed to the governnt office, Wei Shen had already been sent off."

"How could one stir up trouble over such a matter?"

Yu Tingwan understood.

But the granddaughter-in-law holding a child in the Village Chief’s household was confused: "Why can’t you go and cause a scene at the governnt office?"

Without needing Li Lian to speak, Yu Tingwan gently said, "Conscription isn’t a trivial matter. If soone’s taken mistakenly, it would be negligence on the County Magistrate’s part, how could he take on such a case."

"If Aunt Hui and her family ignored consequences and really had the guts to make a fuss at the camps, the entire Wei family might lose their heads."

And the Wei family had not split yet.

This matter also wouldn’t benefit the second house.

"With Wei Shen going to the military camp a done deal, it couldn’t be changed. Aunt Hui also has a daughter. Mrs. Wei banked on these two points to dare to be so bold."

Li Lian was surprised at how clearly Yu Tingwan could see things, understanding imdiately.

She sighed, "If you were a man, you might not be inferior to Yaozu."

Yu Tingwan smiled, a bit pensive.

So on the third day, the neighbor made sauerkraut pig intestines.

No one knew how Hui Niang prepared it, there wasn’t the slightest off sll. The aroma was unusually dominating, wafting straight into Yu Tingwan’s nose.

It seed delicious, enticing her cravings.

The mushrooms were finished, and there were only boiled wild vegetables at ho.

Having been stored for too long, the wild vegetables had wilted. Tasteless and drab.

She hugged her little pot, went to sit in the yard, looked in the neighbor’s direction, but could only see the high wall separating the two hos.

The young girl was dejected, falling into a long silence.

For the first ti, she had thoughts she shouldn’t have.

If she married Wei Shen, would she then also have pig intestines to eat?
