Miranda glanced at . "Hey, Ethan," she called out, her voice a mixture of exhaustion and pride.
I approached her, a smile tugging at my lips. "You did well, Miranda," I comnded.
She nodded, wiping the sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand.
"Thanks. It's not easy, but I want to get better," she replied between breaths.
I patted her shoulder gently. "You're making great progress. Just rember to rest and recover properly," I advised.
Red ca over as well, his huge tail wagging in approval. "She's got potential," he said, his canine grin showing his satisfaction.
Miranda chuckled weakly. "Thanks, Red."
"Anyway, did sothing happen?" Red inquired, his curiosity evident in his tone.
I could tell that he had sensed there was more to my absence than t the eye.
I scratched the back of my head, a sheepish grin forming on my lips. "Yeah. I, uh... found sothing beyond my predictions," I admitted, trying to keep the details vague for now.
Before I could elaborate further, Buni bounded over to us. "Is it a cat?" he chid in, his ears perked up inquisitively.
I chuckled at Buni's assumption. "No, Buni. Not a cat," I replied, my gaze shifting to him as well. "It's a little human."
A shadowy figure appeared next to Buni, and I turned my attention to Shadow and Rave as they joined our little group and approached us.
Red's ears perked up. "A little human?" he repeated.
Buni's eyes widened. "Wait, you an a kid?" he asked, his voice tinged with disbelief.
I nodded, rubbing the back of my neck awkwardly. "Yeah, a kid. She was just sitting alone on the balcony of an empty apartnt," I admitted.
Shadow tilted his head. "Why was she there?" he asked, his tone calm and composed.
I let out a sigh. "Her mom apparently left her there while she went on a date or sothing," I explained.
Rave, perched on the unfinished fence, let out a low whistle. "That's ssed up," he comnted.
Red's expression shifted from curiosity to concern. "So, what's the plan?" he inquired.
I glanced at each of my pets. "I brought her to my house. Mrs. Clea is taking her to the hospital. She's not in a good state," I said.
Buni's ears drooped. "Poor kid. That's rough," he mumbled.
"Yeah, it is," I agreed. "I'll have to deal with her situation and figure out what to do next."
"How old is she?" asked Miranda. She stood back on her feet.
I rubbed the back of my neck. "Around ten," I replied, my brows furrowing.
"Ten?" Miranda repeated, her surprise clear in her tone. She looked at . "That's... really young."
I nodded in agreent. "Yeah, it is," I admitted with a huff.
Miranda's expression suddenly shifted. "Wait a second..." she began, her voice trailing off as she covered her mouth, her eyes widening. She looked at with a mix of concern and disgust.
I raised an eyebrow, puzzled by her reaction. "What is it?"
"You aren't going to take her to your harem, right?"
I blinked in surprise at her bluntness. "No," I retorted, my tone more forceful than I intended.
"She's just a child. I'm definitely not into that kind of thing. I'm normal," I said.
Miranda's expression seed to relax a bit at my imdiate denial. "Oh," she responded. "Good to hear that," she added with a small nod.
I rolled my eyes. "Really, Miranda? You think I'd just bring a kid into my 'harem'?" I scoffed, using air quotes for emphasis. "That's a whole new level of ssed up."
She chuckled softly at my words, a sheepish smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Okay, okay, maybe I overreacted a bit," she admitted, her tone conceding the point.
I gave her a flat stare, my amusent still lingering. "A bit? You practically accused of being a child trafficker," I said.
Miranda playfully bumped her shoulder against mine, a grin spreading across her face. "Well, you can't bla for being cautious," she quipped.
I sighed dramatically, feigning exasperation. "Yeah, yeah, I get it. I'm the big bad demon, so obviously I have ulterior motives," I said with a theatrical eye roll.
She laughed at my antics. "Alright, let's not keep her waiting then. Back to business?"
I nodded in agreent. "Right, let's go back now. I still have a few things to take care of," I said, opening my portal.
