Skipping had done it again. He’d overslept - by way too much. Ironically, his excessive desire to sleep, relax and be lazy was exactly what got him caught up in the ss that led him to Obsidian.
All he wanted to do was take a break after being hunted down. Why did the system need to be so annoying about things? What he wouldn’t give to get rid of the annoying system which kept blackmailing him and making him work.
Then again, it was because of the system that he beca a wealthy businessman who didn’t need to work a job, so it wasn’t all bad.
He would get into what to appreciate or despise later on. For now, he needed to figure out how to resolve the issue. Fortunately, he had over 23 hours to figure this out. Unfortunately, he most certainly did not have 300 system items in storage, nor would he be able to get so from the daily draw.
All hope was not lost, however, for he had a single draw for today that he could use. Besides that, well...
Skipping did not lose hope - at least not until he did that final draw, and received a permanent moustache marker. Any moustaches he drew with that marker would stay on permanently.
Of course, this was an item ant for mortals, so an immortal would obviously be able to remove the moustache. The permanent was more an indicator of the fact that it couldn’t be washed off with water, and would require more effort to remove.
Such an item, while perfect to sell, was not going to help him in his current predicant. At that point, Skipping finally lost all hope and threw himself back into his bed. But with the knowledge of his impending punishnt, it was hard to fall asleep.
"Ugh, why is life so hard?" Skipping asked as he rolled off the bed and checked the tir. He had only 20 hours left. He just lay on the bed for a while. How could so many hours have passed by?
With a groan, he decided to explore Obsidian a little. It would distract him from the ordeal he was about to go through.
To his imnse surprise, once he started paying attention to Obsidian, he discovered that it was actually suprely cool! What the heck?
Why was every blade of grass, every grain of dirt, every gust of air so rich in energy? And how had he not noticed before?
Now intrigued, Skipping stepped out of his courtyard and found himself on an almost empty island. There was a chihuahua wearing a robe and a pointy hat, sitting on a broomstick trying to fly up into the air, but it wasn’t working.
Skipping may have an incredible love for sleeping and lazing, but he also had the natural talent of an incredible salesman. He spotted a potential custor so he imdiately pulled out a pair of Levitating Socks he got from his system and put them on, flying a few feet into the air.
"Hello there, good sir. It seems to you’re having a bit of a problem balancing on your flying broomstick. Might I suggest this magnificent pair of Levitating Socks instead? They co in many different colors, and spot various beloved animals such as the Fifteen Butt Bird and the Waterlon Shrimp."
Hargreaves, who was severely frustrated at his newest broomstick, looked up at the flying giant - he’d gotten used to other powerful races now - and found the deal to be amazing!
"You’ve got a deal! How’s 10 Obsidian Points for the socks?"
"Obsidian Points? What’s that? I’m not too familiar with that," Skipping asked, confused. Was that a currency exclusive to Obsidian? That might not be so useful...
"Oh, you’re not a mber yet, huh? Well, you should go join quickly - Obsidian is such a great way to et other system users in a safe environnt."
Skipping froze instantly. What did the little dog just say? ’Other system users’?
"Oh yeah, you probably don’t know yet. Well, all mbers quickly figured out that all other mbers were system users. Can’t be helped - many of the task rewards are clearly system related, and everyone else can see them so... yeah. But you should finalize your mbership soon before you get kicked out. That would be a serious loss."
Skipping was bewildered. Skipping was horrified. But most importantly, he was ecstatic! A club with other system users? Didn’t that an he might be able to get his hands on other system items and use 300 of them within 20 hours?
He cursed himself for wasting ti and quickly ran to take the oath and join Obsidian, before he ran back to his courtyard and took a look at all the possible tasks. Unfortunately, as Hargreaves explained, not all mbers were present right now, so the best way to get in contact with other mbers was through the task board.
Skipping had no Obsidian points to use, so he could only trade, but no one was interested in trading.
For the sake of the hair in unntionable places, Skippings mind went into overdrive concocting the perfect plan on how to acquire Obsidian points and use them in a way to maximise his own usage of System items within the next few hours.
When he put himself to it, Skipping was actually highly competent and incredibly intelligent. It was just that sleeping was easier than being highly successful, so it was often the path he took. Right now, though, with proper motivation, he finally unleashed his hidden potential, and demonstrated when he was selected by his system in the first place.
Getting 10 Obsidian points from Hargreaves for the socks, Skipping began his journey to becoming an Obsidian billionaire.
That’s when his sight fell on a specific task. He had to find a way to send so items to Abaddon. As it happened, he had a stamp which could easily accomplish that, where Abaddon was.
Now he just needed to see if he could negotiate the deal. The one thing Skipping never skipped was negotiating a better deal, even when it seed like it wouldn’t work. It had worked out for him more than once.
