"Then, I’m sure." Linthia affird.

Despite knowing there was no going back after her answer, her voice didn’t waver.

She wanted to tell Rex the reason for her choice. the responsibility she owed to Dindora, but the words were stuck in her throat. In her mind—she said it aloud, to show Rex that she was willing to do anything to achieve her goal, to beco the strongest general of the empire.

However, she couldn’t bring herself to say it.

Her mouth was open but her voice didn’t want to co out.

Linthia was embarrassed, ashad to say it aloud.

Knowing that she had been a burden all this ti, barely being able to keep up with the other captains, she was too ashad to voice out her desire to Rex. All she could do was confirm it in her heart and do the best she could in the upcoming task.

Even then, Rex could sense her determination.

"You’ve changed, Linthia," Rex nodded. "You’re stronger now already"

Linthia answered by bowing deeper, she appreciated Rex’s kind words and swore to not disappoint him.

"Go and prepare," Rex commanded, sending Linthia away with a wave of his hand. "We will depart as soon as possible, handle your affairs and responsibilities—and wait for in the training chamber. I will also do the sa"

Nodding her head, Linthia bowed once more before leaving the throne room.

Rex glanced at Valthor and so other Dark Elves, gesturing for them to leave him alone.

Once the throne room was empty, silence enveloped the space—the steady breathing from Rex was the only subtle sound that could be heard in the background of this room. Rex’s gaze was vacant, gazing at the wall.

Everything beca oppressive—looking, feeling, and breathing suddenly beca a strain.

It felt like he was underwater, his senses were being dulled by the empty space.

But then, an unsettling shift—the rhythm of his breathing began to wane, fading into eerie stillness.

In its place ca whispers, voices—faint yet vivid, resonating inside his mind.

Though the room remained utterly soundless, the voices felt unnervingly real, invading his senses.

’Rex…?’

Rex blinked his eyes and turned to the base of his throne’s staircase, seeing a man standing crookedly with chaos markings across his body—Edward. A mory replayed in real-ti, Rex saw Edward cast him one last nod as his body disappeared, crumbling into chaos.

He felt a pang in his chest when he saw Edward disappear into nothingness.

Unconsciously, his hands tightened on the armrests of the throne.

Knowing that this could very well be it, the end of his story and also the entire people who were linked to him—Rex was nervous. Everything lies in the next few days, lies on whether Rex can survive and achieve what he needs to achieve in the Spirit Realm.

Failure ans annihilation, him and also those close to him.

Just the thought of that made his breath heavy and ragged, his responsibility weighed down on him.

Then, another illusionary figure appeared.

Evelyn appeared beside him, she was sobbing profusely—tears streaming down her face.

’Madam Qonvale told she felt your soul was cold… you’re nearing your end’

’I’m scared, Rex… I’m scared of losing you’

Shifting his gaze to the other side, another figure appeared—this ti the figure was looking at him.

Mrs. Greene, his mother.

’Rember, a mortal and a deity must be sacrificed to stop this’

Leaning his head back to stare at the ceiling, the corner of Rex’s lips curled into a faint smile—as his mind reminded him of what was at stake, which was practically everything. Inhaling a deep breath—Rex stood up and walked to the hallway to his left, "Don’t make it very near, Mom. Let do this first and then you can call …"

Monts later.

Rex knocked on a door and pushed it open.

He stepped inside and closed the door behind him gently.

Scanning the room, he walked a couple more steps ahead and found the person he was looking for.

Calidora lay on the bed, her crimson eyes glinting faintly in the darkness as they briefly t his before drifting closed again. She has lost most of her stamina to the point that she is sleeping normally on the bed like an actual Human, unlike normal Vampires.

Rex hesitated for a mont, stepping closer, only to notice her complexion was paler than usual.

Almost ghostly white in the dim light.

Blinking his eyes, Rex saw the blood energy that her heart generated and spread throughout her entire body was hogged by the baby in her stomach. Other than her stomach area, the other parts of her body were devoid of blood energy.

Seeing this, Rex clenched his jaw and sat on the edge of the bed.

He stayed silent there in the darkness, his elbows on his thighs and his hands intertwined together.

Opening the inventory tab, he clicked on an item and took it out.

In the next second, a demonic purple stamp with the symbol of smirking lips appeared in his hand.

It was the Demon Seal that Elder Tilrith gave him.

All he needed to do to fulfill the first part of his deal with her was to place this Demon Seal on Calidora’s stomach. Once the Demon Seal was placed, it would do the rest of the work. Since he already scanned the Demon Seal, he knew that it wasn’t anything dangerous.

Just that, the mont his child reaches seven years of age, he or she will be teleported to the Demons.

Not hard but trained.

For two years, his child would be in the hands of Demons and trained in their ways.

Rex doesn’t know how to feel about this.

Of course, he made the deal already, and going back on it would only make the Demons his enemy.

Considering the new way that he obtained that would allow him to enter the Spirit Realm without the need of his soul—bearing the weight of the Spirit Realm’s air, asking Elder Tilrith to strengthen his soul beca almost worthless.

It wasn’t worthless completely since now he knew the Invincible Apparition was still inside of him.

But even then, it was still not worth it.

Trading the Maw of Oblivion and also his child for only that wasn’t worth it at all.

On one side, he wanted to abandon the deal and face the fallout later since he would be stronger once he ca back from the Spirit Realm with Devo’s and Amanir’s aptitude enhanced. However, on the other, going back on his words would only an he wanted to seek trouble.

More trouble that he didn’t need, especially when Elder Tilrith wasn’t actively trying to kill him.

She was focusing on the Dark Angels and that’s good.

Rex didn’t need to make her change perspectives of him and view him as an active enemy.

Even then, just the thought of his child being raised by Demons was suffocating to think about.

He didn’t want that.

But what was more important was Calidora’s reaction, he didn’t know how she would react.

How do I tell her the deal I made with Elder Tilrith?

Rex rubbed his face harshly, not knowing how to deliver the news to Calidora.

Even then, he has to tell her now since the deal was to use the Demon Seal before his departure.

"I’ll try to keep an open mind, so say it," Calidora’s weak voice suddenly echoed.

Upon hearing this, Rex turned towards her in surprise—she read through him like an open book.

Knowing that it was now or never, Rex said it blatantly without slightly changing the fact or even lying, "I made a deal with Elder Tilrith to mark our child—with a Demon Seal. I have no other choice, that was the only thing I could think of at the mont so I accepted"

As expected, Calidora’s brows dropped into a frown.

Despite her weak body, she forced herself to sit up and lean on the headboard.

Rex helped her to comfortably sit before pulling back again.

"What did you say?" Calidora asked again, this ti—there was a hint of sharpness in her tone.

Gulping harshly, Rex repeated, "I made a deal to mark our child with a Demon Seal"

"What exactly is this Demon Seal?"

"Once our child reached seven years o-"

"Our daughter." Calidora suddenly intervened.

Pausing for a second, Rex looked at Calidora with unblinking eyes, registering what she had just said.

"Daughter…? You knew already?" Rex sucked in a cold breath.

Hearing this, Calidora nodded with a faint smile.

"Yes," She answered before she opened her mouth, showing her fangs that were way longer than normal, long enough to almost reach her chin. "Look, she already even made my fangs this long. It’s confird, we have a daughter"

Rex’s heart pounded inside his chest.

His eyes trailed down, looking at Calidora’s bump with a mix of emotions.

Seeing him in a state of shock, Calidora reached out and gently clasped his hand with hers, guiding it to her stomach. The mont Rex’s hand rested against her, a sudden, electrifying jolt surged through his fingertips, igniting his nerves and sending a ripple of sensation coursing through him.

It was the sensation of life.

Death always lood in his life. Continue your saga on Freewebnovel

Rex has grown accustod to the taste and sensation of death, the victims who were under the rcy of his claws have taught him all about death. At this point, death couldn’t faze him anymore. He never thought about it, never aware of it.

But now, the mont he touched Calidora’s stomach—his entire world turned.

Almost instantly, Rex looked down, his face darkening.

"I will brand our daughter with the Demon Seal," Rex suddenly said, his voice firm. "but don’t worry. Once I co back, I’ll find a way to get rid of the Demon Seal. I will strike a new deal with Elder Tilrith. I promise, our daughter will not be dragged into this"

Upon hearing this, Calidora nodded—she trusted Rex to keep his promise.

However, she frowned when she registered what he said.

"Where are you going?" She asked questioningly.

Rex shook his head, "It won’t take long, I’ll be back before you know it"

As he said that, he placed the Demon Seal on Calidora’s stomach gently before it glowed and passed through the fabric of her clothes and branded into her skin. She groaned a little, feeling a sting but that was it, no other discomfort other than that.

Once that was done, Rex cast one last look at her stomach before turning to leave.

"Ryze is recovering from his shock," He said on the way out. "Giana is also available. I will tell her to hunt and deliver so mutated animals to you—make sure our daughter grows well. I know the Father should be the one hunting in your tradition but I wasn’t in the position to do that so don’t be stubborn and do as I say"

"Rex..." Calidora called suddenly.

As he was about to open the door, he stopped and turned towards her, "Yes?"

"..." She paused, hesitating for a second before lifting her gaze. "Please keep us safe"

Caught off guard by her words, Rex froze but he recovered almost instantly.

His eyes then bulged with deadly determination, "I will."

...

Soon, the preparation was complete.

"Are you ready? I’ll open the portal but it won’t be in the city above the sky," Amanir said.

Rex tilted his head, "Why? If we want to find Devo, going there would be preferable"

Upon hearing this, Amanir flapped his ears and averted his gaze away, hiding his sha, "Devo ca from a respected House, not every spirit could enter their territory. Since I’m a thief, I am wanted and banned from going there, I can’t open a portal to that place"

"Sigh…" Rex shook his head. "I sotis forgot you’re a criminal there. Will that be a problem?"

"A little bit…" Amanir replied, posing an awkward smile.

Linthia also smiled awkwardly, it seed she wasn’t the only disappointnt around here.

"Fine, we can deal with it," Rex waved his hand. "Open the portal and let’s get this over with"
