Rex gazed ahead at the woman, a bead of sweat drizzling down the side of his face.
His severed right arm was slowly regenerating but his focus was solely fixed on the woman ahead.
During that mont of darkness, the woman had beaten the dragon snake—countless glowing holes, as well as slash marks, could be seen across its body. Both the domineering presence and its dauntless ferocity were squashed completely.
Its mile-long body lay and coiled on the cold, rough ground—unmoving.
Blood decorated its opened maw, which also showed its broken venomous fangs.
Levitating above this carcass was the woman, her ethereal cloak fluttered as she kept her balance with both hands facing down to the ground. Her glowing eyes checked the dragon snake before averting to Rex with purpose.
eting her gaze, Rex squinted his eyes—curious as to what the woman did.
System, can you explain what happened?
Reading the notification, Rex couldn't help but frown.
He had prepared to co to the Spirit Realm but he had underestimated the complexity of power here.
What's an Echo again? Explain it to simply.
"What…?" Rex murmured through a blood-filled mouth. "I didn't know about this!"
Even though he tried learning as much as he could about the Spirit Realm, the Black Rift was the only exception as he didn't know of its existence until recently. He didn't know about this side effect at all, the Voidal tamorphosis was beyond him.
System, what should I do?!
As he was struggling, Linthia ca from behind.
She could see Rex coughing out blood from the protection of the bubble and decided to co out.
"Rex!" She yelped in worry but gasped when she saw the left side of Rex's face has turned monstrous. His teeth were sharper and fierce, and even his right hand was swelling in size weirdly. "What is going on…? Rex! Can you hear ? Tell what I have to do!"
"He's tamorphosizing, he stayed too long in the Black Rift without protection," A voice intervened.
Linthia lifted her gaze and saw the woman standing in front of her.
Not even wasting a single second, she blinked and pleaded, "Can you help him? If you can please do"
"I can't," the woman sighed lightly, shaking her head—it seed she genuinely could not do it. "The Voidal tamorphosis is a unique transformation, linking an entity to the Black Rift forever. In order to fight it, only he could do it. Outsiders can't"
Upon hearing this, Linthia was devastated.
Rex was still struggling hard—it was obvious that he was in pain despite not making any sound a tall.
'She's a Seeker, I can feel it so why didn't she summon her flare and protect him?' the woman thought, confused as to why Linthia seed to be lost—as if she was new to all of this. 'It's her fault that he was caught by the Black Rift. If anything, I thought she was trying to kill him. That being said…'
Averting her gaze to Rex, the woman's eyes flickered, 'He's tough, he should be screaming by now'
Just then, however, her eyes widened when Soul Artifacts began forming around Rex.
All three Soul Artifacts flickered between manifesting and disappearing.
But what caught the woman's attention was that Rex had three, and all of them possessed a very unique dense aura. One look at them and the woman realized that each one of them was extrely high-graded, 'He's talented but he's only at High Spirit rank, he's too young'
Swoosh!
Suddenly, the woman heard the sharp sway of the wind.
Her gaze rose, fully expecting the Black Rift to return to normal and envelop the area again.
A cold chin brushed against her nape as she sensed sothing fast.
Not to ntion, her danger sense reacted—signing that sothing was also strong enough to pose a threat.
Upon pivoting around quickly, her eyes widened when a small water snake bit into her ankle and injected venom into her that paralyzed her. She could easily disperse the venom's effect in a couple of seconds, but that couple of seconds was an opportunity to strike her that the dragon snake used.
Swoosh!
Shooting out of the dragon snake's maw was a pink thing, another snake.
It was the dragon snake's tongue that turned out to be another snake altogether.
Blazing with life energy—that seed to suck the darkness around it, the pink snake shot towards the woman, aiming for her heart like a bullet. She gritted her teeth, trying to move but she could not. She was helplessly paralyzed.
'It's not dead,' She thought urgently. 'It recovered faster than expected! I let my guard down!'
Hiss!!
As it excitedly and viciously slithered through the air with its eyes glowing, ready to pierce through the woman's chest and strike her heart—a figure suddenly appeared. Rex suddenly moved in the way and summoned a waxing moon talisman from his inventory.
Right before the snake struck, the talisman glowed and caught the snake mid-flight.
In a swift manner, it turned into a honey substance and wrapped around the snake as it struggled to break free. Despite its struggle, the substance was sticky, elastic, and strong enough to restrain it. Rex was able to shield the woman.
On the other hand, the woman stared at Rex from behind—her eyes slightly wide in surprise.
Knowing that Rex was only a High Spirit, she was surprised to find him able to block the snake.
Her eyes caught sight of the talisman that dimd and disappeared into particles of light.
Realizing that it wasn't Rex's power but an item instead, her expression neutralized—but she was yet caught by another surprise. Rex's deford appearance from the tamorphosis began to fade away, he's slowly returning back to his original appearance, his Werewolf appearance.
'He washed the tamorphosis already? Through that?' She pondered inside, riddled with questions.
Rex, on the side, cracked his neck.
