A needle dropping could be heard loudly inside the room.
Rex, Amanir, the maids, guards, and even Kraken stared at the small knife in utter shock.
Initially, when the maids and guards heard what Rex said, all of them thought of a ghost disturbing them, as the mansion was quite old. Unlike within the Mortal Realm, where Ghosts were real, the people here knew Ghosts as a scary, invisible monster.
One that neither life energy nor magical phenona could explain.
It doesn't matter whether these people have the strength to crush rocks with their bare hands.
A Ghost is still a Ghost—all of them were scared of it.
Seeing the small knife fly towards Rex without the manipulation of life energy or other type of energy, naturally scared them. For Amanir, this was even more bizarre. A Ghost would still leave a trace, but this small knife didn't.
Naturally, he thought a higher power was involved.
One that he couldn't comprehend.
But this was way worse for Rex as he had the System inside of him, a construct that was certainly above Gods. Even then, when he scanned the small knife with the System, it stated that the small knife was a normal utensil.
Nothing particularly unnatural about it.
So, that begged the question, what moved the small knife?
"What the fuck…?"
As soon as Amanir's voice broke the silence, Rex imdiately dropped the knife and leaped backward.
He knocked the sofa in the process, wanting nothing more than to get far away from the small knife.
System, scan it again! I refused to believe it to be a normal knife!
…
Equipnt Rank: -
Description: An intricately designed utensil made by polished steel mixed with purified gold, made to cut cooked at, and fitting only in the most royal households.
…
Rex read the description and found no change to it.
Just like earlier, the System stated that the small knife was an ordinary eating knife.
It was nothing special.
Even when he scanned the surroundings to see if there was an entity nearby, he found none.
Or at least, none that seed suspicious.
Despite almost always being composed whenever he faced sothing odd in the past, Rex was quite distraught by this. But he quickly regulated his breath, knowing that panicking wouldn't help him solve this odd occurrence.
Once he recovered, he reassessed the situation.
System, if there's sothing the scanning feature couldn't pick up, what would it be?
I'm willing to pay whatever, as long as you answer this question.
