Rex and April exchanged a surprised look.

Both of them expected Viora to be sent here by Rosa, to reprimand them not to be too close with each other, especially with Princess Davina around, so this caught them by surprise. Once the shock settled, their expressions hardened.

"I have nothing to say to her, tell her to leave or there will be trouble."

Rex averted his gaze.

At this mont, Kei Xun was the last person he wanted to see.

She was a lunatic dressed in holy robes, hiding her wicked reality behind the sunlight she was emitting.

A Scion that reveled in bullying the weak.

April felt a rising warmth swelling her eyes, recalling how Crimoria was killed brutally—like her life ant nothing. It was for no reason, too, a tragedy that made her alignnt towards the Divine Saintess change.

"You heard him. Tell that killer of a saintess to leave."

Viora’s face twitched.

Nobody has ever disrespected the Divine Saintess like this, especially a re noble heir like April.

But she only has Rex to bla for infecting her with his blasphemy.

"She ca with no ill intention. Who knows... There might be a way to alleviate the tension."

Viora continued with a suppressed voice.

"Don’t listen to her, Rex. I don’t trust her."

April shook her head, dissuading Rex from even considering facing the Divine Saintess.

On the other hand, Rex was torn.

He looked out the window, eyes calculating what move he should make.

It would be a lie to say he was not curious about what Kei Xun had to say—especially considering how their last encounter ended—but at the sa ti, he had to stay cautious. She is a Scion, after all—and there was no telling what kind of tricks she might have hidden up her sleeve.

Is this the bad premonition I have been feeling since earlier? Because Kei Xun is here?

Rex wasn’t sure, but he was inclined to et with her.

"Be reasonable, Lord Rex. If she ca here to et with you, then she must have sothing of value."

Viora pressed further, ignoring the glare April was giving her.

Eventually, Rex massaged his brows and nodded.

"Fine. I’ll et with her."

"Rex, you can’t possibly et with that killer."

April protested.

Seeing how easily the Divine Saintess kills Crimoria, she certainly could do the sa to Rex.

Even though Rex’s power could surge to an incredible height, she was certain that it wasn’t sothing permanent—or else he wouldn’t have gone through this path to visit the Skillian City. And if she could connect the dots, the Divine Saintess certainly could too.

"I get it. But she can’t kill , not with Duke Lorcan and all these nobles around."

Rex walked past Viora, into the grand hall again.

"Then in that case, I’m coming with you!"

April quickly followed, but Viora stepped in the way unceremoniously.

"Get out of the way."

"The Divine Saintess only wanted to et with Lord Rex."

"Get out of the way, or I’ll tell everyone she’s here."

Hearing this, Viora bit her lower lip as she couldn’t believe April was making this a lot harder.

Before she could answer, April had already walked past her—bumping her shoulder hard.

Viora escorted the two of them to the second floor.

From how the cathedral was shaped—and from the structure of the grand hall, Rex wasn’t aware that it had a second floor. On the staircase, Rex could feel his heart pounding hard—knowing that he could be killed at any mont now.

It was the sa sensation as being held at gunpoint, but worse.

At least in gunpoint, one could see where the danger was going to co from.

In this situation, Rex didn’t know where the lethal blow would co.

He could drop dead without knowing that he died.

Unlike what he expected, the second floor was an open space for people to sit, relax, and pray with a glass ceiling like a greenhouse. Nobody was around, probably because Viora locked the door leading to this place before the ceremony started.

"Where is she?"

Rex looked around, finding no sign of Kei Xun.

Only empty armchairs and potted plants.

"She will arrive shortly. It wouldn’t even take a minute."

"She’s not even here? I can’t believe it."

April scowled, finding this situation ridiculous.

It was a bait, but Viora didn’t take it, standing near a table at the center, motionless.

Not even a minute, she’ll be here.

But that single minute stretched endlessly, the longest one-minute Rex had ever endured in this realm.

He was not impatient, but worried despite not showing it on his face or posture.

Remaining stoic was an automatic reflex whenever he was facing an enemy or a neutral person.

So, despite his nervousness, Viora sensed nothing.

However, that doesn’t apply to April.

Sensing his nerves under the weight of it all, April took his hand and locked her fingers with his.

She spent ten years with Rex, and that’s more than enough ti to know him very well, especially about knowing when he was nervous—and when he wasn’t. And right now, Rex was incredibly nervous, and only she knew it.

As her fingers laced with his, Rex let out a breath he didn’t even know he’d been holding.

"Thanks."

"Yes. No weakness starting from now. She’s not as dumb as Viora."

"Hmm."

Eventually, Kei Xun arrived.

It wasn’t a theatrical one like a beam coming down from the sun, or a bright gathering of sunlight.

No... She erged from a strand of sunlight like a fading dream, settling into the chair beside Viora.

Rex imdiately scoffed when he saw Kei Xun in the form of an old man.

"Not even appearing with your real body? It seed I wasted my ti being here."

Almost instantly, he turned around to leave, pulling April with him.

Just that alone showed that she didn’t co with good faith.

"Wait. Don’t leave."

Kei Xun called, stopping the two of them mid-track.

Once Rex glanced over his shoulder, what stood on the chair was now a woman of eclipsed sun.

Her body was the deep brown of an eclipse, rimd with radiant sunlight along its edges.

Rex has never seen her real form, but this looks like it.

Nodding his head, Rex walked back and sat across from her with April quietly sitting beside him.

"Make it quick. I don’t have much ti to spare for you."

"Are you sure you wanted her to listen to our conversation?"

Kei Xun settled her blazing gold eyes on April.

Even her existence alone was sothing mythical in the empire, and if the news of April eting with her freely was released, it could get her killed. Now, if April knew the content of what they were going to talk about, it would be as good as a death sentence.

Hearing this, Rex paused for a second.

But the answer was already clear enough.

"April, wait outside for ."

"What...? You can’t be serious, Rex. I’m here with you."

"Go outside.

Rex repeated, this ti more authoritatively.

Seeing that April was still going to argue, Rex hoisted her up from the chair, summoned his Aegis of Moon Sentinel Soul Artifact, and pushed her out—with it. Along the way, she spewed protests, but Rex gave her no chance to retaliate.

Eventually, she was kicked out with the door closed behind her.

"You have a man’s strength... and now, it seems, a man’s will to match."

Kei Xun nodded, finding his decisiveness masculine.

Her complints didn’t soothe Rex.

In fact, it did nothing at all.

"Stop with the taster. Get to the point."

"Okay...We started off on the wrong foot, and it’s truly unfortunate. I ca here to let bygones be bygone."

Hearing this, Viora’s head snapped towards Kei Xun.

She couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

No chance that the Divine Saintess would offer sothing like this—without demanding a heavy price from Rex, or so she thought. But this was not so fantasy of her own making—Kei Xun was serious. She was firm and resolute in every word she spoke.

"Oh..."

Rex leaned back on the chair, looking at Kei Xun with a curious gaze.

He smiled a little, glanced at Viora briefly, and leaned forward again.

"Where did this co from? Because from what I heard, you got into trouble with the other Scions."

"How...?"

Kei Xun blinked and shifted her eyes towards Viora a little, before leaning back in realization.

It seed Viora had said so unnecessary things to Rex that she didn’t know about.

But what’s done is done.

"The Scions’ matters are on my shoulders—it always has been. There’s no need for you to worry," She leaned forward, giving no ti for Rex to intervene. "In order to assu this new page of ours, I am even willing to give you pointers. One that’d certainly help you."

Rex’s eyes flickered.

"Pointers...? Like what?"

"Like how to reach the First Stage. Interested?"

Naturally, that kind of information was sothing that Rex wanted the most.

It was his way to get stronger fast and certainly learn more about the System.

At this point, it was clear enough that there’s more to making him invincible to the System.

A weight that was shouldered by the Supre One in the past.

And now on Rex’s shoulders.

System, how much would it cost to purchase the information to reach the First Stage of Invincibility?

So, the information Kei Xun is now offering is priceless, huh?

Rex swallowed hard and put his focus back on Kei Xun, interested in what she had to offer.

"What’s the catch? I find it hard to believe you’ll give pointers for free."

"Nothing, I don’t want anything, dear. Like I said, this is a sign of goodwill. All I’m asking for is peace."

"How can I trust your intentions are pure?"

Kei Xun scoffed in complete disbelief, the sunlight radiating from her flickering in response to the dark storm of emotions within. She knew Rex was soone special—a Scion like herself—but she had not expected him to be this difficult.

No, not difficult, but unreasonable.

"Are you serious?! How dare you disrespect the Di-"

Pah!

Before Viora could get the words out, a slap cracked across her cheek, heat and pain flaring instantly.

She touched her burning cheek and looked at Kei Xun in horror.

"D-Divine Saintes...?"

"You’re acting like a weakling. This is a world ruled by power—your little emotional outburst ans nothing here." Kei Xun t Viora’s gaze without flinching. "Why don’t you wait by the door with that woman? I don’t have ti to entertain tantrums."

Viora was rooted to her spot.

But this displeases Kei Xun even further.

"Better yet..."

Tap!

Not even waiting a single second more, Kei Xun tapped her on her forehead, taking her under control.

Viora’s eyes turned vacant as she stood there motionless like a doll.

Once that was done, Kei Xun sat down again and cleared her throat under Rex’s amused gaze.

"I’m also willing to trust you on your word," She continued normally, but her tone was now icier. "In truth, I’m the one taking the bigger risk here. You can verify my pointer is correct or not, but what’s stopping you from attacking after you get what you want?"

Rex exhaled lightly.

If Kei Xun put it like that, then it was true that she was the one taking the bigger risk.

At least he’d gain sothing real, but Kei Xun—she only got a promise from him.

For a good mont there, Rex remained silent, thinking.

After weighing the decision, he decided that this is an offer that he can’t refuse.

I need to know the path to reach the First Stage. This kind of opportunity wouldn’t co twice.

Rex looked at Kei Xun and nodded.

"I can accept this term, but I really need you to answer one question."

"Hmm? Go ahead, I’ll add this to my showcase of goodwill for you."

Nodding his head, appreciating this kind gesture, Rex shifted in his position.

"Soone is ssing with ..."
