Back when Rex saved the nobles, he knew the implications of his decision to transform.

Spirits in general don’t have two forms, and those who have don’t fully change races like he did.

Upon transforming, he knew that it would be the sa as exposing his identity to soone who does not originate from this realm. So of the less educated people might not know that such a transformation ant he ca from the Mortal Realm, but all knew he wasn’t from this realm.

Even with his exploits, the general view would not be favorable for him.

It didn’t push people to outright view him as an enemy, but a lot of forces are keeping tabs on him.

Had it not been for Princess Davina’s aid, he would probably be monitored all the ti.

Rex knew all of this even before he decided to transform.

So naturally, the mont he exposed himself was the mont he accepted the risk it would bring.

All of this stemd from a figure called Cardoc Mirza.

Princess Davina had earlier told him the gist of this supposed, dangerous figure.

Based on what she said, Cardoc Mirza is soone who was also from the Mortal Realm with monstrous power rivalling those in the Spirit Realm. He caused havoc across the Spirit Realm along with his strong personal forces that should be Humans.

He even turned a number of Spirits into Humans, threatening the Spirit Realm’s longevity.

It was so bad that the eastern and southern parts of the Spirit Realm bear hatred even to this day.

Rex wanted to pry further as he had never heard of such a figure back in the Mortal Realm.

But both of them had already arrived at the County of Dara, so their conversation was delayed.

For the ti being, he probably would need to stick close to Princess Davina wherever he goes—that includes eting the Spirit Emperor after Empress Morgana fulfils her promises. Nobody remained in the House of Catillon’s residence, and without anyone around, there’s no saying whether there were spies inside or not.

Rex reckoned Princess Davina brought him along partly because of this specific reason.

Compared to dealing with those hidden forces when his goals were within reach, he would much rather deal with petty attempts from the young generations, who viewed Princess Davina as their role model, as the latter was much more plausible to deal with.

I can only suspect the Supre One, and since he can turn others into Humans, he’s really the System’s previous user, huh? Finding out more about what he did would give so insight into the System’s real purpose and background, but... I’ll hold onto that thought.

Rex manifested his original Unique Echo, the Blood Moon Echo.

He was still wounded and hadn’t had the ti to properly digest its power and establish himself at the Eternal Spirit rank, but showing the Blood Moon Echo should be more than enough to convince Lady Ravyn.

After all, it’s Unique Echo equivalent to the Echoes from the Altar of the Gods.

Swoosh!

Lady Ravyn was pushed back a step by the gentle but domineering breeze.

She stared at the Blood Moon Echo in absolute shock.

’This... This is not possible,’ She swallowed hard, pupils trembling at the trendous power that she could feel contained within the Blood Moon Echo. ’I don’t feel this much pressure even from Father’s Echo, what is its rank...? Not only that, but only its first layer was opened, and yet it’s already like this? I can’t believe it!’

Earlier, Lady Ravyn thought Rex was not worthy of Princess Davina.

Now, she even dared to think that Princess Davina might not be equivalent to Rex’s potential.

Lady Ravyn was even certain that the Blood Moon Echo was higher-ranked than the Spirit Emperor’s.

"Do you see...?" Rex asked, smiling nacingly.

Around him, Isabella and the other assassins lowered their gazes to the ground only to find their hands slick with sothing warm. All gasped at the sight of the ground bleeding crimson like veins through the earth.

Everything around was swallowed by Rex’s reddish aura of killing intent.

And the light from the Blood Moon Echo shone brightly as if it were the heart of all things.

’Just what kind of monster is he...?’ Isabella thought, cold sweat trickling down her face. ’For him to retain this much strength even though he’s still wounded—I must say, Princess Davina must’ve chosen him willingly. I would too if I were in her position.’

’I should shut up. Lady Ravyn took the bla upon herself, so all I need to do is let this play out.’

But as she watched Rex’s face from the side, Isabella instantly doubted her decision.

No chance that Rex would spare them, even if Lady Ravyn begged for their lives.

’He’s distracted... And sustaining the power of Law with his current state is taxing. I doubt the barrier is still there,’ Isabella thought and turned to the other assassins, to the other noblewon. "Let’s leave. Follow my lead, and we’ll escape soundly. Let Lady Ravyn take the bla..."

Isabella’s voice was barely audible.

As a matter of fact, the other noblewon were reading her lips more than hearing her words.

Crash!

Isabella’s eyes widened when the stone fence beside her shattered.

A beam of energy struck an inch away from her face and shattered the stone fence.

She swallowed harshly and turned to look at Rex, only to find him staring at her with a sharp gaze.

"I can hear you..." Rex muttered chillingly.

During a chaotic battle, his senses were attuned to only focus on the ones near him, allowing him to react as quickly as possible. It made his defense almost impenetrable, but his senses shone in a situation like this more.

Even when Lady Ravyn took down the guards by the entrance, Rex could already hear her coming.

He even knew that she was using so kind of powder to do that.

Heck, Rex could even hear her pounding heartbeats before she was close to the residence.

As long as he focused on his senses, there was nothing that could escape him.

"I told you before," Rex muttered, his voice low and edged with a nacing touch as his eyes narrowed, forcing Isabella to instinctively lower her gaze. "You leave only when I allow it. Try running again, and the next one will take your head. Don’t test —above all else, I keep my word."

Seeing that Isabella has learned her lesson, Rex turned to Lady Ravyn again.

Slowly, he approached with daunting steps—his hand still wields the Blood Moon Echo.

"So," Rex stopped and towered before her. "Is this enough proof?"

"Y-Yes..." Lady Ravyn lowered her gaze, shoulders trembling in fear and nervousness. "I’ll accept any punishnt that Lord Rex settled for ."

"In that case..." Rex reached out his hand.

Lady Ravyn closed her eyes, fearing whatever Rex was about to do.

But the touch never ca.

Bam!

Hearing the heavy, pounding noise, Lady Ravyn’s eyes flew open, and she drew in a sharp breath—only to find herself staring at soone’s back. Across the pavilion, Rex was hurled backward, his body slamming hard against the stone wall.

"Are you okay?" A familiar voice seeped into Lady Ravyn’s ears.

She raised to look at the man before her and realized that it was her brother, Lucen.

"Brother?!"

"Don’t worry, I’m not going to let him touch you."

"Wait, brother, this is my fa—"

"Do you know where you are, Lord Rex?" Lucen drew his own Soul Artifact, or at least that’s what Rex assud it was, a shapeshifting liquid that hovered above his shoulder as he pointed at Rex sharply. He completely ignores Lady Ravyn. "This is the County of Dara—and you dare to attack the daughter of the lord, who owned the ground you’re standing on?"

"I don’t care what Lady Ravyn did—and I do not care that you are Princess Davina’s fiancé. As the lord of this land, and a brother, I can’t let you touch Lady Ravyn," Lucen’s eyes—narrowed. "But if you can apologize right now, I will spare you for Princess Davina’s sake."

"Brother, you’re going too far!" Lady Ravyn pulled on his arm. "Don’t blow this out of proportion!"

"Blow this out of proportion?" Lucen scoffed. "From the way I see it, he’s the one who did it. He should have let you go and given us so face. Step away, sister. I’m going to protect you."

Even as Lady Ravyn continued to tell him to stop, Lucen didn’t.

He turned a deaf ear to her.

’How can I let him go?’ He grinned inside. ’If I killed him, a usurper from the Mortal Realm, I would be known throughout the empire. So might not like for what I did, but comparing that to those who wanted him dead, I’ll still get the better end of the deal. Besides, the Duchy of Castillon is in a decline without a successor.’

’I was telling Ravyn to stay out of it so I can make my move, but she didn’t listen.’ He shook his head.

But nevertheless, this gave him a better alibi to attack Rex than the one he had prepared.

Rex looked down at his stomach.

A trace of the energy from Lucen was drilling into his already wounded body.

Even so, the corner of his lips curled.

Finally, he ca out. I was expecting him to be a noble, and I was right. Is he the successor?

No, that should be Edras, the respectable man who helped settle.

...

...

Earlier, when Rex dropped Princess Davina at the House of Dara’s residence, he was surprised to find a killing intent quest from the System. Since there was no na, only the fact that this person ca from the House of Dara, Rex didn’t know who he should suspect.

He thought it was Edras, but it wasn’t.

Regardless, he decided to wait as if that person wanted to kill him; it’d happen during the night.

Lady Ravyn ca first—but Rex already scanned her the mont she and her assassins arrived, and none of them could harm him. All of them are mostly at the Master Immortal Spirit rank, while Lady Ravyn and Isabella rested at the pseudo-Eternal Spirit rank.

Just a bit more to reach the Eternal Spirit rank.

But even then, the System shouldn’t have triggered a killing intent quest from them.

No matter how hard this group tries, even in his wounded condition, they wouldn’t be able to harm him.

And soti earlier, he noticed another figure hiding in the dark.

It was the person who triggered the killing intent quest, and that person was Lucen.

...

...

"I’ve been waiting for you," Rex raised his gaze, eyes glowing crimson. "I thought you were going to chicken out after seeing my Blood Moon Echo, and I was prepared to chase after you. Fortunately, you have a pair of balls to face ."

"Hmph!" Lucen snorted.

He controlled the floating liquid that turned out to be a piece of equipnt, shaping it into a shield—with a sword on its tail. A blend of defense and offense, which exposed his fighting style, "As long as I’m here, I won’t let you hurt my sister. I’m going to protect her from you."

"Protect your sister?" Rex cackled like he had heard the funniest thing in his life, finding it incredulous for Lucen to even have that much confidence in himself. "Where is it? The way to protect your sister, why can’t I find it?!"
