Boom—!
A beacon of light climbed skyward like a towering column, piercing through the golden clouds.
Rex was pushed back hard.
He rolled backward until the Aegis of Moon Sentinel caught him and helped him regain balance.
What is he doing...? System?
A blue holographic light shot forward and scanned everything it touched before focusing solely on the Archangel of Knives. Rex waited for a few seconds, leaning forward, still trying to anchor himself until the forceful rush of energy receded.
Soon, another notification appeared.
Angel race’s heritage is tied really closely to this realm. He can even access heaven.
Rex read through the notifications and imdiately felt his entire body throbbing—almost like his own body was reacting to the thought of another battle. But then again, his anger was limitless, but his body was now sluggish.
He wouldn’t be able to defeat a full-scale attack, especially with the enchanted pure silver in him.
It was the first ti Rex felt this poisoning.
Even though his regeneration was strong, this was different—he couldn’t expel it as easily.
Compared to ten minutes ago, his chances of winning dropped significantly.
For Rex, the situation was turning bleak as he practically already exhausted his life energy and his sheer stamina from using the power of Law, regenerating—and also absorbing the voidal energy to empower him through his Sable Physique.
But that doesn’t an he was going to give up.
Crack!
Rex slamd both fists into the ground, cracking it as he stared ferally towards the sky.
"You filthy dog... If I die here, then you’re coming with !" Stelios barked maniacally, one arm still pointing to the sky as he sacrificed more and more of his lifespan. "At the end of the day—you’re alone... Nobody can help you. ...? Heaven always watches over its own!"
As the rush of energy grew more intense, Rex’s lips curled into a smirk.
He stared at Stelios and tilted his head slightly, eyes wide like a madman, "Who said I’m alone?"
Aooouuu!
Rex unleashed a thunderous howl that could even be heard through the onrush of energy.
Around him, a purplish energy began to coalesce—a gentle and smooth shimr like flowing silk.
It stood in stark, quiet contrast to the violent red aura that still crackled from his form. This serene light swirled downward, seeping into the ravaged earth—where it etched itself into a perfect, glowing circle. Elaborate runic symbols that ca from ancient tis.
Symbols that Rex doesn’t recognize at all.
It’s ti... Answer my call, Evelyn.
...
Back before he arrived at the Tomb of Heroes, when he t with Evelyn and Gistella, Evelyn remained behind longer to tell him sothing. It was based on a hunch, or perhaps the hunch of the entity inside her moon earrings.
A hunch that perfectly predicted this outco.
"Most Royal Werewolves died when they were alone," She whispered warningly, followed by a glowing flash from her moon earrings. The entity was talking to her, and Rex could tell. "It was custom. In order to kill a Royal Werewolf, the assailants have to wait until it separates from its pack."
"Alphas in general are a lot easier to kill when isolated, and if the empress wanted to kill you, this is the perfect chance." She added almost with certainty.
Evelyn didn’t know what had happened in the Spirit Realm, but she could roughly tell.
Normally, Rex was never trusting.
But at this very mont, for so reason, he trusted this empress.
He let down his guard—and Evelyn didn’t bla him, as sothing big must’ve happened in the Spirit Realm that changed him. All she needed to do was remind him that it’s never a good thing to trust others blindly, like he was doing right now.
It was especially convenient when their eting also so happened to be a perfect chance to kill him.
No inner pack mbers were present on the other side.
And that’s a fatal weakness, one that could be exploited as long as the assailants are smart enough.
Rex looked at Evelyn with a clear frown on his face.
Dubious.
Knowing sothing like this was not normal for Evelyn.
It was sothing Flunra would say, as he is a lot more knowledgeable about Werewolves.
"I’m not saying the empress is certainly going to attack you, but in case you did, give a signal," She continued—patting Rex’s chest gently. "I suppressed my connection with you for exactly this. Just give the signal, and we’ll be there to help you."
...
Above, a massive golden gate erged from the clouds and opened.
Dozens of figures made entirely of heaven’s light ca out.
Each figure took the shape of a celestial warrior, clad in regal armor of solidified light and varying kinds of weapons wielded in their hands, along with wings of pure radiance spread from their backs. Heeding Stelios’ call, these figures descended.
Not as a single host, but as scattering stars across the firmant.
All spread out until they filled the horizon, an army of the sky.
On the other hand, Rex’s body seethed with more purplish energy as he chanted.
"Harmony of Two Souls..."
Upon using that skill, Rex could feel his breath taken away—as the connection he has with Evelyn swelled to an unbelievable degree. It beca so thick and strong that the connection pierced through the difference in realms.
Underneath, two threads of glowing purple stretched out from the left and right sides of the magic circle.
Each ford two more circles that resembled a full purple moon.
And from each one, purplish energy climbed and coalesced, slowly forming a figure.
Adjust them.
Yes.
As soon as the command left Rex’s mouth, a torrent of power exploded from each circle.
Stelios’ eyes bulged with pure, incandescent anger. His gaze locked onto the four manifesting figures right on the four circles. Each one carried a similar, blasphemous scent—the distinct scent of the Royal Black Prince.
The Silverstar Pack.
Just the thought made him grind his teeth in utter frustration.
He didn’t know how, but the Silverstar Pack was forming, and he couldn’t let that happen, no matter what.
"ATTACK!!"
In unison, the celestial warriors pointed their weapons at Rex and fired a beam of light.
Each sliced through the air like a bullet and exploded upon impact.
Kaboom—!
"Keep going!"
Kaboom—!
"Again!"
Kaboom—!
"AGAIN!!!"
KABOOM—!
Stelios gave no chance and sent a volley of light beams that shook the ground with each hit.
He was angry, frustrated, but more importantly, afraid.
Considering that Werewolves grow even stronger while around their pack mbers, he couldn’t afford to have the Silverstar Pack manifested fully. Not to ntion, having already tasted Rex’s abnormality, he knew that letting Rex do anything would only be suicide.
A Werewolf’s strength was multiplicative within its pack; to let the Silverstar Pack fully manifest would be to face a power he could no longer contain. And after tasing Rex’s abnormality in everything he does, Stelios knew that letting him do anything would be a death sentence.
Might as well throw in the towel if he didn’t stop it right here.
No matter what Rex was trying to do, he needed to stop it.
Dark smoke covered the battlefield.
For a good mont, nothing could be seen until a sparkle of blue erged—a barrier.
Stelios’ face paled at the sight waiting for him behind the smoke.
Behind a shimring, blue-translucent barrier, Rex stood flanked by four figures. Three took the form of a Werewolf, while one remained unnervingly human—that exudes the scent of a Werewolf. A single glance was more than enough for Stelios to recognize them as the Silverstar Pack mbers.
All four of them were assembled, called by their Alpha.
Each one has a feral eagerness etched on their faces—their focus solely on helping Rex go through the spectacle he was facing right now.
"Archangel of Knives..." A low, baritone growl rumbled like thunder.
It ca from an oversized Werewolf riddled with battle scars beside the Royal Black Prince—Flunra.
A primal, unbridled anger ignited in Flunra’s chest at the sight of the figure across from him—the living specter of the Era of Might. A nightmare that haunted him for quite so ti, not because of fear, but because he never had the chance to fight this figure again.
"You..." Flunra growled, the word dripping with millennia of hatred. He leaned forward, claws flaring with a lethal gleam as there was no mistaking the figure he was staring at right now. "After thousands of years... I will watch your light die today!"
Beside him, another Werewolf covered in armored scales stood.
Gistella looked at the Archangel of Knives and then skyward at the celestial warriors.
"Death is already beside them," She mumbled inwardly. "I can feel its presence..."
On the opposite flank, a Werewolf of pure, glacial white stood like a honed blade. Her sharp eyes swept the battlefield, coldly calculating the enemy numbers and tracing the most efficient, lethal paths through their ranks.
One that was best for her to take in order to lead the charge.
"Angels," Adhara rasped, the word a venomous scrape.
Her murderous intent leaked out of her like a haze of blood, a promise to kill those who opposed her.
"How dare they gang up on him like this?" She gritted her sharp fangs. "I’ll make them pay."
Lastly, the figure who retained her human form approached Rex and placed her hand on his shoulder.
Evelyn channeled her luna energy and siphoned it into Rex’s body, numbing the damage he suffered, allowing him to feel a lot better, even if it’s only for a mont. "I’ve co as I promised," She whispered and cast a small smile. "Seems like the battle is nearing the end. Let us help you end it."
"Leave the Archangel to , and keep the rest away," Rex instructed sternly.
And seeing that the others were eager, he didn’t waste any more ti.
Aoouuu!!
In an instant, at Rex’s signal, the Silverstar Pack moved with a burst of speed.
Adhara was the first one who react to the signal, leading the charge.
She charged, a streak of white and fury.
With each stride, violet flas erupted beneath her paws—coalescing and surging forward until they ford the shape of a massive, blazing serpent. At the peak of her sprint, she bounded onto its flaming head firmly.
The serpent reared back and then whipped upward, a living catapult of fire, hurling Adhara skyward.
Several celestial warriors attacked her, but all of them were t with purple flas.
Swoosh—!
Below, Flunra and Gistella galloped like animals, handling the right and left side, respectively.
However, Stelios wasn’t going to let them block the celestial warriors.
"PROTECT !!" He scread.
Almost instantly, the celestial warriors turned and dove towards Stelios, heeding his call.
But at the sa ti, Flunra and Gistella moved.
Gistella channeled energy into her horns and stretched out her hands, using her energy to grip all of the celestial warriors. On the other side, Flunra fired a rune and branded it on Gistella’s shoulder, amplifying her telekinetic force.
Crash—!
Like birds, the celestial warriors began to fall one by one due to the heavy pressure.
And down below, Flunra was already waiting for them as he rampaged through their ranks.
Each celestial warrior was pinned and then torn to shreds, returning them back to the light.
Everything happened right before Stelios’ eyes.
Throughout this battle, no matter what he does, he feels like Rex always has sothing to suppress him.
"Don’t start running now..." Rex’s voice reverberated through the air. "Aren’t you supposed to be the one hunting ?"
