Rex stared at the aftermath.

He wasn’t expecting anything—too focused on being able to truly manipulate the three layers to give a thought about how it would impact his black lightning. And thus, his mind was blank, and that made it all the better.

Seeing the hole in the massive pillar was a pleasant surprise.

"It’s a smooth stab," Rex leaned in, taking a closer look. "How is it even possible?"

One thing that he knew about his black lightning was that its nature is chaotic and violent. Any lightning spell that he used would be offensively stronger, and that applies to defensive spells, which are designed to protect the caster.

Even a simple protective barrier would have sparks that would zap anything that ca too close.

And yet, this hole was smooth and perfectly round.

No trace of the black lightning’s chaotic nature.

"That’s the only reason I can co up with," Rex straightened his spine again as he had a theory in his mind that might explain what happened, but he needed to attempt more to be certain. "Let’s focus on the outer layer now."

Rex ca to find a secluded spot so that he could browse the possible devoured skills from the corpses.

And perhaps, check out the skill tree to learn.

He has fifty Divine Upgrades in store, so he could learn one ability from the skill tree permanently.

But it would be a sha not to capitalize on the situation right now.

As expected of a transcendent-rank treasure, the Hall Anvil of Ages was incredible.

In an hour, Rex went from not knowing that his lightning elent was comprised of three layers to being near-proficient in manipulating each one of them. The chamber, coupled with his Lunar Avidity, made it impossibly fast for him to learn to manipulate the three layers.

The chamber attuned his senses to the hidden three layers—while the Lunar Avidity helped him control the arcane mana more precisely.

At the end of the hour, he could also infuse more than half of arcane mana into the outer layer.

Infusing the outer layer proved far more difficult than infusing the second layer. The distance from the core was greater, and the arcane mana thinned and beca more scattered with every stretch, demanding more focus and ntal power to maintain.

But Rex managed to make it work sohow, but the infusion was far from perfect.

Just as with the second layer, he couldn’t pour in every ounce of arcane mana.

But he infused enough to see the effect.

Rex stared ahead again and struck.

Blitz—!

His intention was to strike the massive pillar as he did earlier, but the mont the Sharp Lightning Great Spell burst forth, what ca out wasn’t a singular lightning charge, but a hundred veins of black-hot current that clawed at the air with no purpose but destruction.

Like tree roots branching, the lightning spreads, taking up a massive area.

Once it ended, Rex lowered his arm and stared ahead.

"Exactly as I thought..." He mumbled—seeing that there are no dents left behind on the massive pillar or even in the other places the lightning reached. "Focusing arcane mana into the second layer significantly increased the penetration power, while focusing the outer layer boosted the nature of the elent."

Rex already has a hunch, and this confird it.

His initial Sharp Lightning had only drilled shallowly—into the massive pillar. The version focused on the second layer penetrated clean through it entirely. The outer-layer variant, however, scattered into a web of sparks that spanned a wide area but delivered far less concentrated damage.

Every spell he had been using up until this point was the balanced version.

But with this, he could properly highlight what the spell allowed him to do.

"Let’s see if it’s really the case."

Rex charged both hands with arcane mana and then pointed each at one massive pillar.

"Lightning Salvo!"

Crack—!

A thin lightning strike shot forward from each hand—striking their respective pillars and leaving behind faint, crackling marks—residue that could be used to activate the next spell. On the left, Rex channeled the arcane mana into the outer layer. On the right, he focused it into the second layer or the body layer.

"Mystic Shock!"

At the sa ti, the trace of lightning exploded.

On the right, the lightning seeped into the pillar and then burst, shattering the lower part of the pillar.

As for the left one, the burst blood like a lightning flower and spread across the length of the pillar.

Just mastering the three layers allowed him to make one spell have two distinct usages.

"I wonder whether I’m the first one to find out about this from the Mortal Realm," Rex rubbed his chin, and then quickly shook his head when he recalled a specific Supernatural race. "There are Elentals back ho, so probably not."

Despite being pleased with this progress, Rex is still nowhere close to applying it in battle.

It required too much ntal focus to actually succeed.

"I need to train more—but I think enough ti had passed," Rex looked toward the entrance; there was a dangerous glint behind his eyes. "Killing three Godlings in one day is probably his limit, so I expected him to fail. He should know that it’s impossible. Why isn’t he back yet?"

Rex expected Zev to return after killing one Godling and then begged for more ti.

Since he hadn’t returned, Rex feels uneasy.

Zev could simply go back and report what was going on to the Enforcers, but Rex was also prepared if that happened. He knew how valuable the whip was—so if Zev tried anything at all, then the whip would be destroyed.

A mutually shared destruction.

Considering how concerned Zev was about the whip, losing it would certainly destroy him.

"But before that..."

Rex lifted his hand, and lunarlight seeped out in sparkles, "Ultimate Spell, Master Clones."

It seamlessly swirled around his hand like lunar wisps, then cascaded downward, shaping itself into an exact replica of himself. The clone opened its eyes and t Rex’s gaze, waiting for a command. "Here," Rex took out the whip and handed it to the clone. "Go out there. Whip one Gardener half to death, then scout the dead section of the adow."

Like a dutiful servant, the clone took the whip and imdiately stepped out of the chamber.

His main focus by coming here was the Pale Defenders, but he also wanted to check a section.

One that he ca across before and piqued his interest.

Right now, he’s standing inside the realm of an incredibly powerful God. He really wanted to know what kind of power could cause a portion of the Primordial adow to wither. Who knows? Maybe it’s sothing that I can use against Kaiser.

Rex sat back down again on the platform.

Now that the other things were settled—he decided to check the skill trees and also the skills that could be harvested from the corpses of the Godlings he killed in the warehouse—before resuming his training over this new discovery of his regarding the elents.

A big spherical panel erged before him.

All of the full moons were there, along with their unique abilities that he could learn.

Just then, as he was about to check on the Blood Moon skill tree and find adequate abilities that might help him confront Kaiser, the bubbles at the center of each full moon section glowed. His eyes flashed as he rembered sothing.

"Upon reaching the four-star Demigod divinity, the Order Skill would evolve," Rex mumbled inwardly.

Back then, he saw a small notice right beside the Order Skill.

It said that reaching the Four-star Demigod would evolve it into its higher version.

Rex was already happy enough that he could access the Order Skill again, as in the God Realm, every bit of strength counts. But to have it evolve into a higher version is a cherry on top. I hope one use will now last longer. Getting Divine Upgrades is very hard to do.

Once the Order Skill finished being upgraded and dimd, he quickly tapped on one.

On the Blood Moon Order Skill, to be exact.

However, before he could even check out what changed, another notification blocked his vision.

"Hmm? What’s this?"

Rex decided to tap on another Order Skill, the Banished Dark Moon Order Skill, but it was the sa.

"System, what gives? I thought the God Realm could host any power."

Rex rubbed his face as he had completely forgotten about that.

Right now, the body he’s inhabiting is rely a projection of his original body that was sturdy enough to host his soul. It looked identical to his original form, indistinguishable to the eye. But intrinsically, it was sothing else entirely.

Both his mind and soul resided here, but his real physical manifestation did not.

It couldn’t connect properly to his mind and soul to create harmony.

For the ti being, it hadn’t been a problem in the Spirit Realm. But now, it finally bit him.

"So, no Order Skill for ?" Rex asked helplessly.

"Okay." Rex exhaled roughly, accepting that there was no way around it. No point in feeling dejected over sothing he couldn’t fix—not unless he broke through the veil covering the Mortal Realm. "Does this affect anything else?"

"Wait..." Rex’s eyes widened. "Can I not kill myself and return to the Mortal Realm that way?"

Since this second body holds his soul in place, dying would an having his soul sent back to the Mortal Realm. Once he dealt with the problem on the Mortal Realm, he could return to the Primordial adow, but with better preparations this ti.

It’s plausible.

But the System shattered that fantasy.

"Right... It’s not going to be that easy."

Rex laughed sheepishly.

Since Kaiser knew that he was in another realm, which was why he decided to attack the pack, he would also know that Rex’s soul and mind were separated from the main body. He certainly made sure that no soul could go out or enter the Mortal Realm.

Any soul that dares to attempt that would be killed imdiately.

"Is there any way to bypass this?"

"Oh? That’s really cheap," Rex’s eyes sparkled excitedly, hoping that the thod to go around the veil was far easier than he anticipated. "Buy it, then. Tell how to go around it."

"Fuck, as if amassing the required divine strands is that easy," Rex cursed as a vein throbbed on his forehead. "I should’ve known it was too cheap to be actually useful. Damn it," He waved his hand and exhaled roughly through his nose. "Let’s just focus on the mont."
