"Boom!"
Xu Dongxu sat down on the ground carelessly, his mouth dry as he pointed at the ground and said, "There are footprints here, left not long ago. Why don’t you look around this area? Anyway, I’m really out of strength now."
Lin Tian looked down and indeed saw so shallow footprints on the ground, leading toward the nearby reed cluster.
"Alright, I’ll check it out. I advise you not to play tricks; no matter how far you run, I can find you." Lin Tian said.
Xu Dongxu smiled bitterly and mocked himself, "Look at now, where can I possibly run?"
"Better be that way."
After saying that, Lin Tian followed the footprints and entered the reed cluster.
This season, the reeds hadn’t blossod yet, with only yellowed leaves blocking the view. Luckily, Lin Tian had x-ray vision and didn’t need to search everywhere; he could just stand in one spot and slowly take a look.
In the withered field of reeds, there was an obvious path that soone had walked through. Lin Tian’s sight followed this path, and soon he found the Grand Elder hiding in a pile of reeds, fully covered, breathing steadily as he slept.
Lin Tian felt a mix of amusent and concern; it seed the old man wasn’t in serious trouble.
Following the path, Lin Tian walked over, realizing his assumption was overly optimistic. The Martial Sect’s Sea of Qi was completely empty, his aura weak, clearly having exhausted his Inner Strength.
Lin Tian had experienced this situation two or three tis; each ti, it wasn’t a matter of life and death without being badly injured.
The Grand Elder was no better off now, his upper body bare, skin scorched black, flesh exposed, with significant internal injuries.
Lin Tian took out the remaining Great Rejuvenation Elixir from his pocket, crushed it into pieces, and then fed it to him. He then carried him on his back and quickly ran outside.
Hearing noise from the reed field, Xu Dongxu propped his hands against the ground and slowly sat up.
In just this brief mont, he had adjusted his disrupted aura sowhat, strangely feeling his stamina and injuries gradually recovering, as if he had taken so spirit dicine.
Of course, Xu Dongxu didn’t believe Lin Tian was so generous. It must have been the effect of breaking before establishing anew.
Seeing Lin Tian carry the Grand Elder out, Xu Dongxu joked, "That old thing, he actually isn’t dead yet."
"Indeed." Lin Tian’s lips curled into a smirk, "Looks like all your preparations were in vain, making yourself injured instead. Trying to steal a chicken only to lose the rice used to lure it."
Xu Dongxu glanced at Lin Tian without refuting.
Ultimately, he underestimated the Golden Core master; even with so many tricks, he couldn’t kill this old man.
In fact, Xu Dongxu truly wanted to kill Lin Tian. But upon seeing the Grand Elder alone, he couldn’t resist striking, knowing he had no confidence against two Golden Core masters at once in the future.
"You’ve rested enough too, get up, it’s ti to go back." Lin Tian said.
Xu Dongxu didn’t hesitate, dusting off his hands slowly standing up. He knew talking too much with this junior was pointless.
"Wait." Xu Dongxu suddenly shouted.
Lin Tian turned his head, looking at him questioningly.
"Aren’t you curious whether this old man’s three souls and seven spirits are intact?" Xu Dongxu asked.
Lin Tian frowned, initially indifferent but couldn’t help feeling curious after being questioned.
"Let see." Saying this, Xu Dongxu approached, examined him thoroughly, touched his brow, lifted his eyelids, and finally laughed.
Seeing him laugh, Lin Tian’s frown deepened; this old guy definitely had bad intentions.
"Missing one soul and three spirits, tsk tsk, better than I expected." Xu Dongxu said.
A hint of anger flashed across Lin Tian’s brow, "So much missing, what will happen?"
"Souls and spirits are the basis of a person. Although he won’t die, hallucinations, unclear mind, sleepwalking, and the like are quite normal. If so many spirits hadn’t been lost, he probably wouldn’t have fainted in the reed field."
Seeing Xu Dongxu’s confident deanor, Lin Tian squinted and said, "The lost souls and spirits can be summoned back, right?"
Xu Dongxu placed his hands behind his back, adopting the deanor of a worldly master and smiled, "Naturally."
"Then start."
"Not now, I need to recover my energy first, then..."
Schwing~
Before Xu Dongxu could finish speaking, a black dagger was pressed to his throat, its re touch enough to cut his pale skin.
Xu Dongxu felt a chill at his neck, shivered uncontrollably.
"Talk nonsense, and I’ll let your three souls and seven spirits leave your body!" Lin Tian said coldly.
"If I die, he won’t survive either."
"It’s irrelevant; I’ve tried my best. If it really happens, then it’s his fate, and I can’t do anything." Lin Tian said.
Xu Dongxu stared at Lin Tian coldly and finally said viciously, "You really are ruthless!"
"Cut the crap and start."
Unable to help but laugh bitterly, Xu Dongxu said, "Summoning souls isn’t just done on a whim; not only am I not in a good state, but without the Soul-Calling Banner, it’s impossible to perform alchemy without ingredients. However..."
"However, what?"
"I can call the souls, gather the Grand Elder’s spirits to the Xu Family Stream. Once I recover, I’ll naturally bring back his souls and spirits." Xu Dongxu said.
Lin Tian frowned, assessing Xu Dongxu’s expression and eyes, ensuring that the old man wasn’t playing tricks before nodding.
"Additionally, I have one more request."
"Speak!"
"When I bring the ghost back to Xu Family Stream, you give the antidote."
"What antidote?"
Xu Dongxu’s previously nonchalant expression turned angry, shouting, "The chronic poison you fed before, of course!"
Lin Tian chuckled, "Just kidding to see how tense you are; naturally I won’t forget. Once it’s done, you’ll get the antidote."
"Alright."
Xu Dongxu nodded grimly, realizing the predicant—under soone else’s roof, one must bow.
Then, he walked to a square ter stone, sat cross-legged, hands resting on his knees, chanting.
Lin Tian perked up his ears, trying to understand, but the sound was almost gibberish, so he ignored it.
After a while, sweat began to trickle from Xu Dongxu’s forehead, his body shook, his waxy complexion turned pale.
Suddenly, Lin Tian looked up, seeing only a patch of dark clouds; nothing else was visible. But he couldn’t shake off the feeling that sothing was off, though what was wrong remained elusive.
Boom~
Suddenly, Xu Dongxu’s body slumped to the side, collapsed.
"What’s going on?" Lin Tian asked.
Xu Dongxu propped himself up again, smiled at Lin Tian, "Nothing, as I said, soul summoning requires a good state, now I’m just a bit tired. Allow to rest for a while before heading back."
Lin Tian nodded, agreeing to this request.
