The Journey of Immortal Cultivation Chapter 23 Westward Journey, Here I Come
Ti lost its aning as sothing unusual happened outside the God Demon Prison.
What's with this little girl tonight?
Usually, before going to bed, she locks her Demon Eye inside a cupboard saying it's "to prevent you from peeking." Yet, his hearing was exceptional; he could at least hear her breathing. Despite her carefree deanor usually, she was surprisingly well-behaved while sleeping, her breaths long and distant, indicating her robust health.
This is also why he had suggested she try the Demon Cultivation Technique.
However, when he opened his eyes, he was stunned.
Ning Xiaoxian fell asleep so hastily that she forgot to remove the Demon Eye for the first ti. The necklace fell onto the pillow, the selection of the corner could not have been more ironically perfect!
She seed hot, her garnts loosened by herself. A thin layer of sweat had appeared on her skin, making it shine like the finest mutton fat jade, translucent and moist.
After all, she was a 17-year-old young woman, her youthful vigor radiating from her.
Changtian could only give a wry smile.
However, at this mont, his keen sense of sll detected a trace of sweetness, although it wasn't very distinct.
His eyebrows furrowed slightly, and after discerning carefully, he suddenly realized: "Not good, how could I forget about this."
Tonight's supper was Fierce Beast at, similar in effect to tiger at which is good for the spleen, increases physical strength, and fortifies muscles and bones - indeed a good thing. However, having practiced cultivation for over two hundred years, the Spiritual Power embedded within the Fierce Beast at was trivial for him, but for Ning Xiaoxian, it was excessively nourishing. She cooked it aiming only to remove the gay taste and added longan, now undoubtedly causing her body to heat up.
Plainly speaking, this girl was overwheld by the excessive nourishnt. She was rely a human with a Mortal Body, and he should have realized sooner that the Spiritual Power within the Fierce Beast at was too strong for her.
Now looking at the girl, her breathing was much more rapid than usual, and fine sweat appeared all over her body. Recalling how earlier she was tired, suggesting her body needed adjustnt, he hinted she should go to sleep early, allowing her body to regulate itself naturally in sleep.
If he were by her side, a re cast of a Daoist spell would allow her to sleep peacefully.
Unfortunately, he couldn't do so, hence, he could only sit helplessly in the God Demon Prison, watching her toss and turn, unable to sleep comfortably.
Luckily, her physical constitution was good, and she didn't consu much of the Fierce Beast at, so she must have recovered by morning.
Changtian, proud as he was, would never take advantage of others in peril. He shook his head, closed his eyes, and rested.

The next day, Ning Xiaoxian slept until the sun was three poles high, an unprecedented occurrence for her. In the year since she'd crossed over to this world, this was by far the sweetest sleep she'd had.
She stretched lazily, her joints making slight crackling sounds, startling herself. Yet, she felt incredibly energetic. She borrowed a copper mirror from Mrs. Song; her cheeks were flushed, her complexion as bloomy as peach blossoms in March, her skin seed a bit whiter, knowing that last night's supper was the reason. If Mrs. Song hadn't been worried recently about Dahu's injury, she inevitably would have teased her about what wonderful dreams made her wake up flush-faced.
Looking up at the sky, clouds and winds were favorable; it was an excellent ti to set off, and she was already prepared.
Ning Xiaoxian and Mrs. Song said their farewells, using the excuse that distant relatives had written asking her to co visit. She could clearly see disbelief in Mrs. Song's eyes, but the kind-hearted woman advised her briefly, realized her mind was set, and finally just sighed and stopped trying to prevent her from leaving.
It so happened that there were so sun-dried herbs at ho these past few days that could treat sumr heat, snake poison, and bruises. Mrs. Song hurriedly took them out and stuffed them into Ning Xiaoxian's only cowhide water bag, and even went to the kitchen to help her bake so flatbread to take along, which Xiaoxian could not refuse. In this era, it was really risky for a civilian to travel alone looking for relatives, and in the heart of this simple farmwife, since she could not stop Ning Xiaoxian, she wanted to help her with her modest ans.
While Mrs. Song was baking the flatbreads, she went into the inner room and quietly tucked two ingots of broken silver and a small gold leaf under Mrs. Song's pillow, an amount that would comfortably support the family for two to three years. It wasn't that she didn't want to give more, but suddenly having a lot of silver could draw suspicion to a farming family, and even the gold leaf was only ant for Mrs. Song's ergency use, given she was not the kind to flaunt wealth without reason.
She took a deep breath before entering Dahu's room.
This young man had faint tear streaks at the corners of his eyes, and when he saw her co in, he quickly wiped them away, not wanting her to see his weak side. He had been training at the Chi Xiao Sect for three months, had been diligent, and his hearing had improved significantly; he'd already overheard the conversation between Xiao Xian and Mrs. Song.
"Sister Xiao Xian is leaving." This realization just ca to him, and his heart instantly ached. He knew from his fellow disciples that the continent beneath their feet was vast, very vast, and Ning Xiaoxian, being alone, might an they would never et again after this parting. The young man might not yet understand what "love" is, but he knew he liked Sister Xiao Xian very much, and wished he could be with her every day.
He asked in a low voice, "Did my mother say sothing to you yesterday?" Ning Xiaoxian was not around last night, and he and his mother had talked until late, with his mother encouraging him to be diligent and not take his injuries too seriously. She even secretly asked him if he would like to marry Xiao Xian soday.
Because of that question, he hadn't slept at all last night, his heart a mix of joy and sorrow, until just before dawn when he finally drifted off. But upon half waking, he learned she was leaving.
Xiao Xian was startled and asked, "What?"
During her ti in the village, Dahu had always protected her, and this recent injury had started because of her. Now that she had to travel far, the guilt weighed heavily on her heart, making it uncomfortable. Facing these familiar eyes, she did not know what to say for a mont, and could only take out so elixirs.
"Last night's vegetarian feast greatly pleased Master i, and he bestowed these elixirs on , saying they could remove illness and strengthen the body." She placed the small porcelain bottle in Dahu's hand, "Your injury is serious, you really need this." Dahu did not refuse, just looked at her intently.
Xiao Xian sighed inwardly, and could only lean to his ear and quietly say a few words.
The two talked for a while longer, and Xiao Xian said solemnly, "Take care," before standing up and walking far away, still feeling the young man's earnest gaze behind her.
Shallow Water Village was very small, and it only took her two quarters to leave the small village far behind with quick steps.
She couldn't help but stop, looking back at the small village bathed in sunlight.
The outside world was full of dangers, and this place had been her little harbor, safeguarding her life. But, that was all it could be.
Her path lay only ahead, whether it was a broad road or not. Ning Xiaoxian smiled faintly, turned around, and strode forward.
The mountains are high and the rivers long, perhaps we shall never et again.
