In the mountains, there are all sorts of hungry insects that fiercely bite at people, and occasionally, coiled snakes appear in the grass, all of which can cause disease and death. Fortunately, she had Qiongqi refine so insect repellent which she applied on her body, thus avoiding these dangers.

On the road, she also had a head-on collision with a cluster of wild boars. In the tall grass, neither saw the other coming. The family of wild boars suddenly rushed to her side, startling themselves. Fortunately, the mother wild boar assessed her for a while and deed her as a lesser threat and then led her piglets away with heads held high.

There are frequent rain clouds in the mountains, and in just one day, she encountered two torrential rains, both sudden and puzzling. Thankfully, with God Demon Prison in hand, she was spared the suffering of being beaten by rain and wind.

Several mishaps along the way caused her arrival at Qingjing Mountain to be about one day later than expected.

That afternoon, she found a small sandy slope to settle down, with an overhanging rock above her head that shielded her from any sudden downpour. This little shelter wasn’t for her, but for the chestnut horse that was even more tired than her.

Sure enough, just as the bonfire was lit, the curtain of rain began to fall outside, and lightning flashed across the sky. This was the third rain of the day, she and the horse were silent, and inside God Demon Prison, Qiongqi chattered, trying to relieve her boredom and fatigue.

Without Changtian, indeed her heart felt empty, as if missing an important part.

The tick-tock of the rain seed endlessly looping, like a hypnotist’s tool, luring her to close her eyes. Even Qiongqi said, "Mistress, just rest, I’ll keep watch for you."

She gradually closed her eyes, drifting into slumber.

In her dream, the old turtle stood in front of her talking, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t make out what he was saying.

"Can you speak up a bit?" she snapped, rushing forward and yelling at him.

The Turtle Immortal repeated once more, exact sa lip movents, but this ti she understood. He said three words: "Ascend Heavenly Ladder!"

Ascend Heavenly Ladder? Why does that sound familiar?

She was intensely pondering when she saw the old turtle’s mouth moving again in front of her.

"What?" Is he reciting to himself? She really wanted to punch him.

This ti his voice suddenly amplified: "Get out, get out fast!"

She jolted awake, hearing Qiongqi’s scream, "Wake up! Mistress, wake up quickly, there’s a demon!"

Demon!

At this mont, no other word could stir her nerves more. Feeling the urgency in Qiongqi’s tone, she instantly forced herself awake and as soon as her eyes opened, she had already flipped up, with Tusk silently gliding into her hands.

A dark flash before her eyes made her reflexively leap backward, pressing against the rock wall. It was only then she saw clearly, it was a pair of gigantic pincers!

Their owner, a massive scorpion, just the pincers alone when stretched out were at least five ters long, opening and closing with creepy loud snaps. Had she not dodged quickly, she would have been snapped in two by those pincers.

Any creature enlarged is quite a sight, and this scorpion was no exception. Apart from the big pincers that looked like bulldozer scoops, it had six strong legs underneath its belly. Despite the creature seeming to weigh over four tons, it moved silently and fluidly like rcury, an excellent tool for stealth attacks. Had it been any other creature of the sa weight class, Ning Xiaoxian might have been awakened by its footsteps before it even got close.

The body of this giant scorpion resembled a lute, with distinct segnts from body to tail, each covered with an armor-like hard shell, appearing even more fierce. The head, thorax, and flattened abdon were classic, whereas the tail reminiscent of all scorpions, lightly swinging overhead, its venom sac full, with the hooked tip gleaming with dark light, clearly indicating the venom inside was no joke.

Not counting the length of the hooked tail, from its tightened fore pincers to its rear, it asured at least five ters; the single hooked tail itself was over six ters, obviously a tool for combat, definitely not just for show.

Without hesitation, she quickly popped a Quhuang Powder into her mouth. Battling such a poisonous creature, a slight wound could be deadly. A palm-sized scorpion’s venom could kill a person, let alone this giant Scorpion Demoness, whose venom was undoubtedly many tis more powerful than its smaller brethren’s!

Wait, Scorpion Demoness? That sounds strangely familiar.

But the giant in front of her didn’t plan to give her any more ti to think, rushing forward quickly, its left pincer sweeping up diagonally targeting her waist, while the right pincer aid for her head, ready to clamp down.

This creature seed to have a deep hatred for her, coming straight for her life. Apart from that Bear Demon she had encountered with Cloud Tiger Trading Team while on the road, she had never t such a reckless demon before!

If she were caught, she would probably be torn to pieces. She twisted her body outward, just dodging the scorpion’s left pincer, and leveraged against the scorpion’s forearm, coiling up her body like a small ball, subtly bouncing two zhang (seven ters) away! The scorpion’s carapace was thick and heavy, just from the brief touch she felt it was almost indistinguishable from granite, evidently, its protective power was thoroughly up to par.

She had chosen her direction before moving, now with her back towards the forest. If she were forced into a corner by the scorpion like before, it wouldn’t take more than a couple of exchanges before she would have nowhere to hide and suffer severe injuries. But just as she had barely steadied herself, the giant scorpion’s hooked tail swung over like a whip, moving so fast the "swoosh" sound lagged behind by a couple of seconds! (To be continued.
