Her dark eyes, black and glossy as lacquer, remained as serene as a deep pool. The youth surnad Fu stared for a while, listening to the mournful wails of Huang Zhong, his heart’s volcanic fury slowly cooling within that pool of water.

Ning Xiaoxian felt the strength in his grip wane and caressed his hair with satisfaction: "Good boy. Go and give him a swift end."

From the perspective of mortals, Huang Zhong had bloodied hands and wickedness great enough to warrant nothing less than death.

The youth surnad Fu nodded, ceased his torture, and with a swift reverse grip, pierced the heart of his enemy. He then pulled out the Dagger, knelt down, and raised it above his head: "Sister, how can I ever repay your great kindness?"

Ning Xiaoxian accepted the Tusk but shook her head: "A man’s knees are coated with Gold, don’t kneel so easily." She flatly refused to speak of him repaying the favor. Avenging him was but a convenience for her. Besides, she carried burdens too heavy, and though the child seed steadfast, he was still but a mortal—how could he help her?

Tu Jin reverted to his Qishou form, carrying Ning Xiaoxian, the youth surnad Fu, and four captured mortals into the air, heading toward a small village below the mountain. He had less patience for mortals than Ning Xiaoxian; in this howling blizzard, by the ti they landed on the snowy ground outside the village, the faces of the four mortals were lacerated with blood marks from the knife-like strong winds.

Ning Xiaoxian sighed, released their bindings, and instructed them to follow behind as she slowly entered the village.

The snow had stopped, but the little mountain village was exceptionally lively this snowy night.

The village was brightly lit, with almost all villagers, both old and young, gathered in front of two farmhouses, though the atmosphere was anything but friendly. The travelers freed by Ning Xiaoxian from the cellar, the n stood in the front, protecting the won, elders, and children behind them, confronting the village’s able-bodied n. Both sides were holding hoes, pitchforks, ready to fight at the slightest disagreent.

The gray-haired village chief cleared his throat and said: "This place is but a small temple and cannot accommodate you all, please seek shelter elsewhere for the night."

An old man who ca to seek refuge with relatives stepped forward and beseeched with clasped hands: "Village chief, on such a snowy night, we truly have nowhere else to go, among us are the elderly and the young. Please allow us to rest for the night; we will set off at dawn and will not disturb the villagers for another day!" He spoke with sincere passion, and as he ntioned "among us are the elderly and the young," the won behind couldn’t help sobbing, adding to their pitifulness.

Moved by his sincere words, the villagers fell silent, so seemingly persuaded. Yet, from behind the chief ca a voice: "Let them stay? What if the Mountain God seeks retribution? Even if the entire village perished, it would not suffice to quell the Mountain God’s fury." This voice belonged to the innkeeper!

Indeed, there was a fool in the village who had harbored a person marked by the Mountain God and t with the slaughter of his entire household. Now, so many offenders of the Mountain God had escaped; if the Mountain God took revenge, wouldn’t the whole village be dood?

Contemplating this, the village n’s eyes hardened with renewed ferocity. "Death be unto fellow Daoists, not unto ," such thoughts are not exclusive to Cultivators.

The village chief spoke again, his voice dry: "Please leave, don’t make this difficult for us." Upon hearing this, the world went dark for the travelers. In the bitter cold and snowy wilderness, spending the night outside was no different than courting death. They had just escaped from the jaws of death, cherishing life as invaluable and wondrous – how could they so easily forego it? The n thus gripped their farm tools, prepared to defend their right to shelter to the death.

Just as the two sides were about to clash, a crisp voice raised: "Hold on."

In a mont charged with heated emotions, this voice should have been drowned out by the shouting from both sides, but it was heard distinctly by every person.

A lively girl walked into the center of the arena.

Divine Skills are indeed useful. Ning Xiaoxian sighed: "The Mountain God has been dealt with; let this dispute end here." She had no wish to ddle, but the Mountain God’s account for abducting people was yet to be settled.

The village instantly fell silent. After a few breaths, soone began to laugh, and the laughter grew louder and more boisterous, carrying far into the tranquil night sky. The might of the Mountain God was imnse, yet this young girl dared claim she had killed the Mountain God—such a gaping display of overconfidence.

Ning Xiaoxian quietly waited until the laughter was at its loudest before speaking unhurriedly: "Tu Jin!" The cold-faced man beside her transford into a Dragon-headed, horse-shaped, five-colored giant Holy Beast.

Under the Bright Moon, the sudden appearance of this massive beast was truly intimidating.

Everyone opened their mouths in shock, retreating several steps, with the timid ones turning ashen with fright. Won in the village began to scream with voices strong enough to pierce the heavens.

But the Qishou only growled nacingly, instantly quieting all the villagers.

"There was no Mountain God here, only a Cultivator who hard mortal lives and made Elixirs to profit," Ning Xiaoxian pointed to the four who had been rescued from the cave: "These are the people I rescued from the Mountain God’s cave, they witnessed the entire process. If you don’t believe , feel free to ask them." Thus presenting living testimony, the villagers were mostly skeptical, but a hint of doubt appeared in many eyes.

Then, she took out a Jade Box from her bosom and raised it up for all to see, revealing the pure gold-colored Elixir Pills inside. After showing the box around, she spoke aloud: "This is the Lifespan Extension Pill made from abducted mortals by the Mountain God. Who among you has seen it before?" (To be continued.
