The silence was too profound, his footsteps resounding unnaturally loud, like beating drums, rhythmically pounding on her heart.
As if infected by it, his footsteps forced her into retreat, step by step, slowly moving backward.
Not until her back was against the cold corner of the wall did she lift her head, and Yu Zexiao was still drawing near, the two of them almost perfectly fitting into that corner.
With him standing so close, the warm breath from the man above cascaded down on her, the closeness reminiscent of last night, his presence enveloping her.

Yu Zexiao continued to suppress her resistance, his gaze falling on the wispy bangs beneath her forehead, his eyelids slightly drooping.
Her long eyelashes cast a faint, soft shadow below.
Her face was no more than five centiters from his, so close he could even see the fine fuzz on her skin.
