I picked up Lyall after I left Arian behind, I didn’t want to know what would happen from here but if he was going to wield that sword then I would have to stay away at least till I grew stronger enough. And also for him to be strong enough to clash with in future.
Sohow, it was a gut feeling that he and I would co face to face on a battlefield for so reason.
"I-Is everything all right, Master?" Lyall asked as he flew through the air again.
"No," I admitted, "things might get ssier from here in future."
Lyall frowned a little before he asked, "Is that kid dead?"
"No,"
He pursed his lips and I knew he was dying to ask questions but I couldn’t answer him now.
"You rember what we’re going to do there, right?" I asked.
"Yes, Master."
I nodded once before we lowered in the closest town that was visible only a couple of miles away from the borders. I landed softly in the treeline watching the small town which resembled a ghost town.
I looked around at the small houses and the smaller establishnts that lined the street before I activated my Mana Eyes. There were people inside, so asleep, so awake but none seed like they were going to co out.
"I don’t think we’d find lodgings here." I mumbled.
"Should we head to the forest for the ti being, Master?" Lyall asked and I shook my head.
"Co," I spoke as I started walking and he followed .
There was only one establishnt here which seed larger than others.
"Church." Lyall muttered when the building with the towering sprire ca into view with its stained glass windows so shattered, so intact. It had stony walls and stood like an elder of this ghost town in front of us.
"It’s a temple." I corrected watching the depictions on the stain windows.
"A temple?"
"Yes, look," I pointed at the stained glass.
"There’s Saintess Miella and Dragons."
Lyall stared at where I was pointing before we moved ahead towards the large wooden doors that were closed.
I looked once at Lyall before I shifted my appearance and my hair grew longer, cascading down my hips. My eyes beca rounder with the sa shade of blue and my clothes shifted to beige robes beneath the black cloak. And from a man I turned into a girl of 16 years old, the female version of Ocean.
I nodded once at Lyall who stepped ahead and grabbed the knocker before knocking it twice. There was pin drop silence and I could see the figures inside stirring but instead of moving towards the doors they seed like they were gathering together getting away from the door.
Lyall knocked again and one of them hesitantly inches towards the door but instead of opening he stood at so distance and shouted.
"We-We don’t have any dicines, p-please leave!"
Lyall frowned slightly and I looked at him.
"Tell them we have dicines." I instructed and he nodded.
"We have dicines!" He hollered making the ones inside flinch.
"What?!"
"It’s impossible, don’t lie to us." A voice ca from inside.
"You’ll know when you see us." Lyall hollered again.
"Are you from the Main Temple?" I heard an aged voice ask and I looked at Lyall giving him a nod.
"Yes!" He shouted.
The figures inside seed like their tension slowly dispersed as the one who had co ahead inched closer to the door and I heard the sound of the tal clanging before the door grew apart only a few inches. A man with greasy brown hair and dull brown eyes peeked outside.
"Wh-Who are you?" He asked.
"My Master has the dicines that you need," Lyall said
The brunette craned his head trying to have a look at with the limited space that he’d created.
"A-Are you one of chief priests of the Main Temple?" The man asked cautiously.
I stepped ahead and Lyall gave a little space, the man flinched as I walked over and he gulped before I lifted the hood of my black cloak.
His eyes widened as he looked at , his eyes focused on and he kept staring until I cleared my throat.
He blinked, snapping out of his trance before his face flushed and he asked with a stamr.
"Wh-Who are you?"
"We’re sorry for showing up so late, my na is Mirielle," I placed my hand over my chest before gesturing at Lyall, "and this is my knight Zoro."
"Y-You have dicines?" He asked and I nodded.
"Where?" He looked at up and down and I smiled making his eyes go wide.
"I shall give you dicines if you could be kind enough to let us in, we have been travelling for days going from villages to villages healing people." I spoke in a soft, pleading voice making the man gulp.
"Wa-Wait, just a minute." He said before he looked back and hollered to the ones inside about us.
"A girl, you say?" I heard the voice of an elderly person.
"Shall we let them in?"
"If they are from the Main Temple then they must have finally sent soone to help us, let them in!"
I looked at Lyall and then at the man who opened the doors welcoming us in, I stepped in and faced the four figures inside, one of them was an old man who looked like he could be in his 70s. The man who had let us in was a tall, wiry man with sunken cheeks and looked as if he had gone through a lot of manual labor. The rest of the priests also seed quite weak and skinny with the dark circles under their eyes and blotchy marks on their skin.
It was strange but just like Mordino, the first stop that I had to take was at a temple and both of these temples seed like they were connected to Saintess Miella and the Dragons.
The old priest stepped ahead and I walked up to him.
"Thank you for coming, um..." He spoke and I smiled.
"My na is Mirielle and this is my knight Zoro. Also, I’m sorry for lying," I said making him frown.
"Pardon?"
"I don’t hail from the Main Temple of Denril." I said making his eyes go wide and the others gasped loudly.
"What?!"
"You lied!"
"If you could listen to quietly then I can explain." I spoke up my Dragon’s Presence getting influenced for so reason.
"What is there to explain?"
"Wiener! Why didn’t you confirm it before letting them in?"
"Throw them out right this instant!"
The priests sharted shouting but none dared to approach .
"Wiener, throw them out, now!" The second elderly priest ordered and the man who had let us in hesitantly stepped towards .
Lyall’s sword was out in a flash right at that instant making the priest yelp and step back quickly.
"Please-" the old priest quickly brought his hands up and I gently placed my hand over Lyall’s arm.
"Don’t." I spoke softly making him put his sword down but not inside his sheath.
"I can understand that you all must be scared because of the plague that’s spreading across the villages and so of your villageers might also be suffering from it but, please understand I can help you." I said.
"I have been chosen for that and that’s why I’ve decided to do all I can to help those who are suffering."
"Chosen for what?" The second eldest priest asked.
"You will believe when I show you," I said and I saw Lyall move but I shook my head making him stop.
"You," I pointed at the last priest making him flinch, "You are suffering from the symptoms of the plague, aren’t you?" I asked making him gasp.
"What?!"
"You’re infected?"
The priests near him quickly scrambled away leaving him alone. He didn’t tell anyone about it, I guess.
"I can cure it," I announced.
"Look girl! You are not from the Main Temple so, we can’t trust you without the dicines blessed by the-"
I moved towards the infected priest without caring about the ranting priest and reached out to the man.
He flinched taking a step back and I gave him an assuring smile before he hesitantly placed his bony hand in mine. I activated the Supre Healing spell and my mana flowed into his body making his eyes go wide for a mont with the blue spangles swirling in his eyes.
I saw as his ashy pale face slowly regained color and he blinked touching his face and body before I released his hand.
"I-I don’t feel pain anymore." He gasped and pulled the sleeves of his robe back revealing the clear skin.
"H-How is this..." I heard the gasp from behind .
"Goddess! Goddess!" The healed man sank to his knees in front of .
I turned slightly and looked at the shocked audience.
With this, the first step of my plan was put into motion but there was still a long journey ahead.
