The next day, I was busy sorting the reports that were sent to from the towns of Herot and the other towns which already had their Lords. They had taken their responsibility of being my vassals pretty seriously and thanks to that I had more paperwork to take care of now.

"There’s been an increase in the population in Oasis in these couple of months." Roan mused as he looked over the records of Oasis.

"There is a free school, free dical facilities and the patronage of the Lord of the town why won’t the people migrate to my town, Roan?" I spoke as I kept my eyes fixed on my own work.

"You’re also attracting all kinds of negative attention." He reminded and I humd.

"There’s so mail for you," he said and I sighed.

"Take care of them," I said.

I bet he rolled his eyes but I saw him grab a pile of envelopes before he started listing out

"There are so rger requests, so requests to refer their children to get education in Oasis school, so marriage proposals, so invitations, so requests for donations and so requests to have shared in the Oasis Foundation."

"Good," I nodded, "Burn them all."

I heard him chuckle before he put them in a basket, "I knew you’d do that."

The people still thought that I was just like any other noble, they had been sending gifts as well but I respectfully delivered them back with an apology letter which was penned by Enora since she was better at that. Roan or I would let our thoughts slip by and that could cause a bit friction.

Either ways, ever since the news of being chosen to promote as a Marquis was spread, the nobles were busy buttering up. Besides, the King had been discreet about any information regarding and even the Queen hadn’t ever talked about on a negative note so, I guess the nobles thought I had the support from the monarchs.

The plan of separating the King and the Queen was going smoothly and sohow that rift had grown without any of my input. It was as if they had realised that they weren’t each other’s allies anymore.

Besides that, I was making sure that the information that reached them from the warzone was raw. I made sure that the news about my boys’ valor would find the headlines in the newspapers for the common people as well as for the nobles to know. It wasn’t glorifying anyone or sothing but I didn’t want the Queen to snatch Eric or anyone else’s credit for her own son when all he was doing was hide in his tent and letting the other knights fight in his stead.

There were so military secrets that were kept hidden from the people but it was still fun to see people reading the newspapers and praising Eric or Rune or the boys whom I personally knew.

It made feel like a proud parent.

After lunch, I went for a stroll in the garden briefly with Lyall and Kai who was now starting to talk as well. It seed like he was starting to pick up the habit of the kids of Eldarf to talk about every single thing that they did.

"And then Grandma Enora told how ravens can fly so long and you know..." He trailed off speaking while I listened.

It was good that he could talk freely now, he didn’t have any chance to speak so much ever but now he was conversing without any fear.

"And then she showed the roses, they were really beautiful and they had thorns but she cut them without getting pricked, Grandma Enora is so skilled!"

Most of the tis he had only Enora to speak of or the kids of the Eldarf but he was shy to speak up in front of them.

"And then Uncle Lyall ca and he told Grandma Enora that she had to teach soone a lesson and then Grandma Enora left."

I paused at that, "What?"

"Yes, Grandma Enora told Uncle Lyall to give so snacks and then she went."

I looked back at Lyall who pursed his lips avoiding my eyes and I looked back at Kai.

"Where?" I asked.

"I don’t know,"

I again looked at Lyall who seed like he would rather keep silent than answer .

"Did Lyall say whom she had to teach a lesson?" I asked and Kai shook his head.

I gave it so thought before I sighed and turned.

"Let’s go find your Grandma Enora, shall we?"

Lyall flinched before he followed along and I walked towards the training ground behind the mansion. Kai often looked back at Lyall who was still silent.

We reached all the way over to the grounds and the sounds of tal clanging and the sounds of grunts beca more pronounced.

I and Kai walked over and joined the crowd of servants who had gathered and were also betting.

"20 on Mrs Jones."

"50 on Mrs Jones."

"30! That guy is going to get his ass handed to him."

I heard the servants laughing as they were too engrossed in the spar that was going on between Enora and Asher.

I looked once at Lyall who didn’t look remorseful now, he simply walked over to the man who was gathering the bets.

"100 on Mrs Jones." He said.

I smiled and looked at the two fighting, Enora was far more skilled and sharp as compared to Asher who was already huffing and trying his best to not lose his limb or fingers. Enora was ruthlessly clean while attacking, and Asher who had only seen a limited number of fighters might end up dead of he couldn’t improve.

"Ma-Master?!" I heard Remi gasp.

"Whoa! Master!"

The servants looked at and I humd as I kept watching the fight.

"Master, do you want to place a bet too?"

"The best are piled up against Asher, what do you say?"

I didn’t respond, so servants were cheering for Enora while I was observing Asher.

"How about Young Master?"

"Young Master, will you bet on Mrs Jones?"

"Yes, all of us know who’s going to win so we placed our money on her!"

I rolled my eyes as the servants now turned to Kai.

"Don’t teach the child any unnecessary stuff." I spoke but I felt a gentle tug at my coat and I looked down at Kai.

"Can I bet?" He asked and I raised my brows.

"You want to bet?"

He nodded and I glanced once at the two fighters before I sighed and pulled out so money from my pockets.

"Here," I handed him around five hundred.

"Go ahead," I said before I turned back to watching the fight.

Kai handed the money to the man who was collecting the bets.

"So, whom are you betting for Young Master?"

"Isn’t it obvious? Young Master must be betting on Mrs Jones, right Young Master?" A maid said but then Kai shook his head.

"I’m betting for that person." He said and I briefly glanced at Kai who was pointing at Asher.

The servants seed a bit surprised and then laughed, "My, my Young Master. You’ll lose money. You shouldn’t bet on soone who is going to lose here."

Kai looked at the two before he turned to them.

"You can still change your decision, Young Master. Since you’re our adorable Little Master, I’ll give you a chance."

Kai shook his head again, firm on his decision before he walked back to and held my fingers.

I looked down at him before I scooped him up, he held my shoulder as he watched the fight.

"Why didn’t you put your bet on your Grandma Enora like others?" I asked, "Did you feel bad for the other person?"

Kai nodded, "He doesn’t have friends here and everyone wants him to lose that’s why..."

I smiled and he continued, "The Big Brothers and Big Sisters at Eldarf told that nobody is weak, everyone is strong and we should always support our friends."

"Do you think of him as your friend?" I asked gesturing at Asher who was literally getting beaten up.

Kai shrugged.

After a couple of minutes, Asher was on the ground, thoroughly defeated and Enora dusted his palms and wiped the sweat from her brows.

The servants cheered as their winner claid her victory and walked up to .

Enora bowed and I nodded with a smile, "Great fight as always, Enora."

"Thank you, Master." She said before she straightened up and then looked at Kai, "I apologise for leaving you like that, Young Master."

"It’s fine, Grandma Enora." Kai smiled.

He then gestured to put him down and I did so. I watched as Kai walked over to Asher who was getting up dusting himself.

Enora and I both watched as Asher smiled at Asher and then handed him a handkerchief. Asher looked at Kai for a mont before he hesitantly accepted the handkerchief.

"Such a kind soul," Enora whispered softly and I smiled.

"He is."
