After the birthday party was done and everyone had gone to bed, I wore my disguise device and flew out of my room.

I had to check up on the condition of the stray that I had picked up the other day.

[Goddess of Wisdom asks whether you are genuinely thinking of putting your plan into action.]

"Huh?"

[Defender of Divine Glory warns you that it could be really dangerous.]

"I’ll be fine, you two don’t need to worry."

[Goddess of Wisdom says that you are the first one who had thought of such a plan.]

"Good thing, right?"

[Defender of Divine Glory is wary of your plan.]

I shook my head at their reactions about my new plan. They had known it was coming yet, now that I had decided to do it for sure they were worried.

I reached at the entrance of the Oasis town and hovered outside a particular window which was open. I sat down on the sill and looked at the man inside who seed deep in thought.

I knocked twice on the glass making the man inside turn to look at the door before looking at the window. His reaction was almost comical as he jumped away and grabbed his dagger cradling his side with one hand.

"Y-You! Wh-Why are you here?!" He shouted and I placed my finger over my lips.

"Don’t be so loud, people are sleeping." I hushed him and he stood with his back against the wall his eyes darting between and the door.

"Besides, this is my inn along with this town so, I can be here." I said as I swung my legs as I looked at him.

"You... Are you really the Baron?" He asked.

"Didn’t Doc tell you?"

He was too tensed up.

"Relax, your wound was deep it’ll open it you move too much."

"Why are you here?" He asked and I tilted my head to one side.

"To make an offer." I said and he frowned.

"What?"

I nodded.

"What kind of offer?" He asked, still cautious.

"Work for ."

"Work for you?"

"Yes, you along with your wife and your daughter can live safely and well if you take this offer."

His eyes widened as he heard and he stomped over to and gripped the front of my shirt and put the tip of the dagger under my chin.

"How do you know about my family?"

"Is it so hard to dig information about an assassin from a small-ti assassins guild?" I asked, unfazed.

"What else do you know?" He grimaced.

"Nothing except for the fact that you are in need of help and I can give that."

"Why should I trust you?"

"You think you’re safe in this town?" I asked.

"You’re in this inn and unhard only till I seem you worthy. The mont I throw you out the other assassin guilds will feast on you and at that ti, I won’t be there to save your ass."

"What do you want from ?"

The dagger’s tip pricked through my skin and drew out blood.

"I want you to be my attendant."

He frowned as he stood still for a mont, "What?"

"I want you to be my attendant." I repeated and he shook his head.

"This doesn’t make any sense,"

"What?"

"You want - an assassin to be your attendant?"

"It’s precisely because you’re an assassin that I want you to be my attendant."

"That doesn’t make sense!"

"It won’t be only you who will be working for ." I said and he frowned.

"Your wife and your daughter will also shift here so that they would have a safe place to stay." I added making him glare at .

"Why are you bringing my wife and daughter into this?"

"Don’t you want a better life for them?"

"That’s not what I ant. You... are suspicious as hell! You own this town yet, you go around like a ghost at nights and you’ve gathered the criminals and pirates as your underlings here!"

"Criminals? Really?" I asked.

The worst people that I had taken in was a bandit and a pirate captain.

"You don’t think that you are doing sothing good here, do you?"

I stared at him for a mont before I activated my Dragon’s Presence making the color drain from his face. He pulled the dagger from my chin and let go of my shirt as he stumbled back.

I wiped away the blood as the wound healed instantly making him stare at with wide eyes as the sweat beads started forming over his forehead. His knees buckled and he fell down breathing heavily as I kept my Presence heavily over his shoulders.

"St-Stop... Stop... Please..." He gasped as he clutched his shirt.

"Stop... I’ll... do anything..." He breathed heavily and I removed my Dragon’s Presence.

He gasped heavily as the pressure was gone and he kept his head down for a few monts before he looked at .

"I could have done this without asking you but I require loyalty not forced bondage." I spoke and pulled out an envelope from my vest and tossed it at him.

He stared at the envelope before he looked at .

"Open it." I ordered and he obliged.

He opened the envelope with trembling fingers and started reading the letter with his eyes going wide and then looked up at .

"Thi-This-"

"At least I’m better than a certain soone who can’t even tell his family that he is working a job where he can kick a bucket anyti and they wouldn’t even get to see him for the last ti." I spoke and he looked at the letter again.

I had already gotten information about him from my intelligence gathering team and gotten to know about his guild, his family and background.

This man’s na was Lyall Cross and he was a small-ti hunter before he turned to assassination because of the money. But even after being skilled enough, he found no reason to keep killing instead of earning money for his wife and his young daughter.

He belonged to a small assassination guild which didn’t have a glorious na in the underworld but because of that, many other larger guilds would try to dominate them.

It was the rule of the underworld, the strong will eat the weak.

The basic reason why his guild was on the verge of collapse was because the larger guilds were trying to absorb it.

Lyall was a strong fighter and he was mostly a target of the other assassins just like how he had ended up when I had found him.

The letter in his hand was of his wife to whom I had sent so money in his na and so dicines as his wife was sick.

Lyall put his head down as he kept staring at the letter and I sighed.

"Look, if you don’t want to do it then just say it, I won’t force it. You don’t need to return the money, you can-"

"I’ll do it." He suddenly spoke up making look at him.

"Pardon?"

He looked up at with his dark eyes glinting because of the moonlight.

"I’ll do whatever you want." He announced and I tilted my head to one side.

"You are not allowed to go back on your word, Mr Cross." I warned him and he nodded.

"I understand. I’ll do whatever you say."

"Even if I ask you to kill?"

A small smile tugged at his lips, "I’m an assassin, killing is my profession."

I chuckled at his words, "That’s a good decision."

"We’re going out next week for an important work, your family will be shifted to my residence and they will be given proper work and quarters to stay at in the anti. Is that all right with you?" I asked.

"Yes," he answered.

"You won’t be able to see your family for around a few months after that so, decide now whether you will still accompany or not?" I asked and he chuckled.

"It’s been around seven months now that I had seen them. A year or two is fine as long as I know they’re doing good. I can die in peace knowing that they will be having a good future."

"You’re not going to die." I corrected him.

"There will be risks but I can assure you one thing, Mr Cross. I won’t let you die as long as you are fighting for ."

He stared at for a mont before he smiled.

"Now I can see why these people are so loyal to you."

I tilted my head to one side, "Why?"

"You have given the hope to every person here so, it’s only natural that they would do anything for you."

I shrugged my shoulders as he said that.

"Spare the corny talk." I said and he laughed sheepishly.

"So, I will be your attendant starting today?" He asked and I smiled.

"Not today, enjoy your sleep tonight and co to this address tomorrow at 2 in afternoon." I said and handed him the card.

"Yes." He accepted the card.

"I’ll see you tomorrow then, Mr Cross." I said as I walked back to the window and jumped out activating my wings in an instant which tugged up.

I caught the look on Lyall’s face as I hovered in the air in front of him, his eyes were wide and his jaw slackened as he stared up at .

"Good night." I spoke before I flew away.
