"Hm? Why are you sighing so loudly, Master? Are you upset that I ca late?"
Ocean lifted his head hearing Davian’s voice and almost felt his heart skip a beat.
Davian stood with a quiet, commanding presence, his jet-black hair a stark contrast to the ivory-white coat draped over his shoulders. The coat, tailored to perfection, bore golden accents at the collar and buttons, glinting faintly under the soft light. Beneath it, he wore a sleek black suit, the silk of his shirt clinging lightly to his form, revealing just a glimpse of lace lining at the chest—an unspoken nod to his refined yet dangerous charm. A gold brooch fastened at his throat, paired with a rose-shaped pin and an obsidian pocket square, lent him the air of a noble whose hands could both offer a rose or draw a blade without hesitation.
His violet eyes were cool and commanding, but there was a glint of playfulness in them as he looked at Ocean.
Ocean stared at the area over his chest where the expanse of his pale skin, the rift over his cleavage and the buff chest lay exposed for the eyes.
"Wha-Why..." Ocean almost shouted calling the exposure of so much skin to be illegal but he held his tongue at the last mont and forced to compose himself.
He cleared his throat as Davian tilted his head, confused.
"What’s wrong?" Davian asked and Ocean cleared his throat averting his eyes from the exposed flesh.
"Nothing, you sure took your ti, Your Highness." Ocean spoke and Davian bead.
"I’m sorry for making you wait, Master." Davian said and Ocean could see the maids who were leaving the room.
Their faces were red and they kept stealing glances at Davian and Ocean as they giggled and then walked away.
"Isn’t Sol coming?" He asked and Ocean humd.
"He said he wanted to rest." Davian nodded thoughtfully while Ocean still seed deep in thought.
"Shall we go?" Davian asked.
Ocean humd again keeping his eyes firmly away from Davian. It was strange, Ocean/Reina in her past life had seen her share of shirtless n on screen and also during her training period but never did she feel anything for those n but here she was having her heart skipping beats just at the sight of so exposed skin at Davian’s chest.
Was it so heart issue? She wondered, but then she recalled that she was eighteen. The official ti when these kind of things were normal. Her soul might be that of an adult but her body hadn’t caught up with that level of maturity that’s why it was having that sort of a reaction.
It was simply hormones. Reina/Ocean concluded, nodding to himself, satisfied with the justification.
Davian and Ocean walked side by side towards the banquet hall quietly until Davian asked.
"Master, how did you get close to Crown Prince Arian? And even the King of Nelius kingdom?"
Ocean humd, "Well, it was during the ti when Sestia and Denril were engaged in the war, and I just happen to co across His Highness Arian who was in a bit of a trouble."
"And you helped him?" Davian equipped and Ocean nodded.
"As of Zale..." Ocean humd, he couldn’t possibly tell anything about the demon and stuff.
"Well, even he was in a bit of a trouble regarding his power and I helped him regain it so, he went on and reclaid his throne." Ocean shrugged making Davian frown a little.
"Why do you address everyone by honorifics but not His Majesty of Nelius?" He asked and Ocean tilted his head a bit.
"Probably because his first impression of wasn’t so good and he actually turned out to be a fool. But he’s fine now." Ocean spoke casually making Davian chuckle.
"Only you would call the King of the Eastern ocean a fool."
Ocean humd, unfazed.
They reached at the banquet hall where their presence was announced and the people inside at once turned.
This particular duo had been absent from the celebrations for three nights straight and had barely stuck around and socialised as the others so, a lot of people were eager to have a piece of them.
Sight he way everyone were looking at them, Davian smirked a bit before he leaned closer to Ocean’s side.
"Be careful, Master. I hope so lady wouldn’t steal you away." Davian whispered playfully.
Ocean smirked, "I’m good at handling ladies, Your Highness. You are the one who should be careful, if I catch you fooling around here with any lady here, you could only dream about Reina."
Davian looked down at him with an expression of hurt, "How could you not trust , Master?... Fine then, I’ll prove to you that my love for Reina is true."
"Good luck." Ocean spoke blandly.
The two faced Augustine who bead at them as they bowed to greet him.
"Your Highness and Marquis Ryujin. It’s been a while, how co you weren’t there for the balls and banquets? Don’t tell you were tired." He laughed.
Ocean chuckled softly while Davian maintained a small, formal smile.
"Apologies for not being present during the celebrations, Your Majesty. But we couldn’t bear to not visit the town to watch every aspect of the happiness that has been bestowed on us, it was a pleasant experience to see it for ourselves as to how the masses are celebrating this peace. And because of that, we missed out on the fun here." Ocean explained.
Davian gave Ocean a side glance as he said that it was a pleasant experience out in town, as if he hadn’t almost died a night ago.
Augustine chuckled, "I see, well, you seem quite young Marquis and I hear you haven’t been married yet."
Ocean almost groaned while Davian coughed to hide his snort.
"You are quite an eligible bachelor, Marquis and from all the things I heard and your feats, any lady would be happy to marry you." Augustine spoke while Davian’s coughing intensified.
"Do you have any specific preference? Or should I suggest a few exceptional ladies of my kingdom? Apart from His Highness Rune, we can surely have another son-in-law from Sestia."
Ocean wondered if Davian was planning to cough his lungs out while keeping a firm smile on his face when a fourth person stepped in.
"Your Majesty, it’s not good to pry in soone’s personal affairs. Marquis must have his reasons for being unmarried." Arian spoke and Augustine smiled before he patted Arian’s back, a bit too hard.
"You young people and your line of thought is beyond ." Augustine laughed.
Arian gave a subtle nod to Ocean who smiled while Davian cleared his throat. The duo walked away and was instantly swallowed up by the nobles who were waiting for them.
The way they all started speaking at once reminded Ocean of the seagulls and he abandoned Davian with the gaggle while he excused himself using Marquis Fairisles as his savior.
"These nobles can peck one to death," Ocean sighed as he stood in front of Marquis Fairisles using the old man’s intimidating presence as his shield.
"Speaking of death," Marquis Fairisles spoke up and Ocean nearly flinched as he felt the oppressive mana spill into the air around them.
The ones who were close by quickly scurried away while Ocean looked at his/Reina’s grandfather.
"Yes?" He asked cautiously.
"I heard so strange information about a forbidden spells going wrong and you nearly dying, is that true?"
The way Marquis Fairisles’ icy blue eyes glowed, Ocean wouldn’t have dared to lie, despite knowing who was stronger among them, Ocean wouldn’t even think of underestimating this old man.
"Uh... That..." Ocean tried to co up with sothing but the rigid expression on Marquis Fairisles’ face grew darker.
"Is that true?" He repeated grimly and Ocean stiffened up.
"Yes!"
If his face wasn’t grim before, it grew even darker and scarier now.
Ocean quickly gathered his wits and spoke, "Listen to , Grand- Your Excellency. It wasn’t sothing in my power at that ti and I admit I was reckless. I’m sorry."
It was better to apologise here instead of trying to make excuses. A roundabout way of making excuses and then apologising was a death sentence before Marquis Desmond Fairisles.
Marquis Fairisles stared at Ocean’s face for a long mont with the sa icy expression before he averted his eyes.
"Are you all right now?"
Ocean almost deflated with relief, "Yes, I’m all right. And I promise, it won’t happen again."
Ocean Ryujin wasn’t a fool to fall for the tricks of the system or his Patrons again.
"Your father told about it," Marquis Fairisles said making Ocean to look up at him with an expression of disbelief.
"He told you?"
Marquis Fairisles released a huff of breath making the grey hair of his mustache blow a little and he crossed his arms at his chest.
"He asked to give you a thorough scolding for it." Ocean almost winced at that but then Marquis at him.
"He looked quite worried and upset whilst telling that so... you should apologise to him properly."
Ocean kept staring at Marquis who then cleared his throat, "I can understand his worry,"
There was a small hint of a smirk on his face as he added, "That’s karma."
Ocean sighed, so, one father was whining about his reckless daughter to another.
