The kids were quite fresh despite it being way past midnight, I guess, Izkar’s world operated differently that even their biological clocks were set that way.
They were eagerly showing their new clothes and happily chattering away about how they had found so much things within two days.
"Master! Master! Look, this is the sweet dish that we all like so much! It’s called starberry jam!" The Elvish girl said happily showing the jam.
"Starberry jam?" I raised my eyebrows and Kent cleared his throat.
"It’s strawberry."
The girl’s face and ears flushed as she attempted to correct her lisp, "Yes! Sta-Sta-Strawberry."
I smiled noticing that the kids were really happy.
"Uh, Master." Kent spoke up as I was watching the kids’ antics.
"What?" I asked.
"They still don’t have nas," he said and I looked at the kids.
"I offered to na them but they said that they want to be nad by their God."
"Don’t call God." I looked at him and he laughed.
"Well, for them you are and I can understand if they would want to keep calling you God."
"Stop it, Kent."
"But still, they need nas. It’s hard to keep them under control if they don’t have nas." Kent said and I looked at the kids.
There were total eleven kids whom I had to na, seven elves and four dwarves which had five males and six females.
"All right, I’ll na them." I announced.
"Na?" The elf girl who was proactive in seeking out repeated and I looked at her.
"Yes, nas for you all."
Her green eyes grew radiant and she grinned.
"Our nas!"
"Uh, but not now. Give so ti, I’ll give you your nas when I return the next ti."
"Master, are you leaving us again?" Her plum lips pouted.
"I have work, I will visit you again soon and after the Winter ends, you will be shifted to another place with ."
She listened with an eagerness of a child expecting her Christmas present and I placed my hand over her head ruffling her hair.
"But you will have to do another work for till the next ti I visit."
"Yes, We’ll do anything!"
"Learn the kingdom’s language and how to read and write. The Big Brother here will arrange for it so, be obedient and learn well, do you understand?"
"Yes, we will all work hard!" She chirped.
The kids who were now paying attention were filled in about it by the girl and they all agreed.
"Good."
I left soon after that and returned to the castle before the daybreak.
The investigation had been going on without since I had other work and I had been staying in my room since the incident at the Second Wall. The knights had searched far and wide on the mountain risking their lives everyday but regardless, found nothing.
If my intuition was right then, we were looking in the wrong direction.
I hadn’t t Davian or anyone else but kept doing my work to find out about the two attackers.
I was just reading the reports that I got from the Kyrell.
Grand Duke Alarice had been an amazing person from what I had learned from the people as well as from the reports in my hands.
He had been loyal to the throne and also was the greatest shield of Sestia so there were many people who were his allies as well as enemies.
One of such enemy was the one who had been out of my eyesight until now and also the one who was trying his best to keep himself out of the ga but also trying to win on his own.
"Gotcha." I mumbled.
There was a knock on my door and I sighed, it had been an everyday matter that the servants would be sent to my room for the entire day and the nobles would keep trying to get to talk to .
I had told the guards and the maids around to not let them disturb but it seed to be a bit too much.
"I’m busy, so I won’t be eting anyone." I called out.
"Sir Ocean?" I heard a familiar voice which made rise and walk up to the door.
I opened it and found Davian standing there, he was supposed to be having breakfast with the other nobles right now. Why was he here?
Don’t tell he ca to invite personally.
"Your Grace? Good morning." I spoke and he looked up at .
"Am I... not allowed inside?" He asked and I was surprised again at his words but quickly sidestepped.
Davian walked inside and I followed after him but then looked at the bundle of papers on my desk before putting the books over them so that he wouldn’t see them.
"So, what brought you to my room so early in the morning, Your Grace? Did those nobles vex you?" I smiled and he looked at .
"You didn’t show up for als in these past few days nor did you co to report to about that night, you have also removed yourself from the investigation for an indefinite period of ti so, don’t you think we have a lot to talk about?"
His gaze was heavy on and I averted my eyes.
"I’m sorry."
"I don’t need your apology, I need answers."
Okay, I guess, I couldn’t avoid this anymore.
"And I’ve arranged for our breakfast in this room so, let’s have breakfast together."
"I’ll be honoured to have the private al with you, Your Grace."
"It doesn’t have any special aning." He snapped making smile.
He was cute when he tried to act like he was the boss.
Wait, did I just think that? Damn, I was starting to lose myself because of all the kids around .
Davian walked around my room looking at the things that were lying around.
"Aren’t the maids cleaning this place?" He asked and I looked at the papers and devices that were strewn over my vanity.
"Ah, well, I have kept them there since I keep needing those things."
Davian observed the devices and picked one up, it was the communication device that connected with Silas.
"What is this?"
"A magic device." I answered and he looked at .
"What does it do?"
"It helps talk with Archmage at any ti, I want."
Davian looked at with slight wide eyes.
"Is that really possible?" He asked and I walked up to him.
"There are multiple such magical devices, Your Grace. The Tower just keeps improvising. This one," I pointed at the one in his hand.
"Is exclusively for and Archmage, since I’m often out of station."
"I wonder if he fears you might create trouble anywhere you go, that’s why he gave you this to keep an eye on you." Davian mused and my eyes widened.
"My Lord, how do you know?"
Davian shrugged his shoulders and placed the device down, looking at the other devices on the vanity.
"There are a lot of devices. You don’t sell them?"
"Well, it’s up to us to decide which devices to distribute and which to keep to us."
"You’re saying the Mage’s Tower is monopolizing such innovative devices that could bring them fortune?"
I chuckled, "They will sell them but not now with the war and stuff. The designer of these devices isn’t the kind of person who would want to let their devices to be used for destruction."
"Designer? You an these were designed by one person?"
"Yes," and that’s . Of course, I couldn’t tell him that.
"He must be a very intelligent person."
He?
"Why can’t it be a woman?" I asked and Davian looked at .
"Is it a woman?" He asked and I shrugged my shoulders.
There was a knock on my door and I opened it letting the maids bring our breakfast inside the room and set it up on the table.
"Why are there so many papers in your room? It’s almost as if you have your bedroom inside your office." Davian comnted making laugh.
"I prefer working while I’m in bed sotis."
We sat down for our breakfast and Davian comnted a bit more about my ss of a room before he asked about the thing he ca for.
"I wasn’t going to be present for the Winter Solstice ball so, I thought of going out for a stroll. Everyone seed to be enjoying the festivities and amongst that I ended up coincidentally at the Second Wall...
I started telling him about what happened at the Second Wall, excluding the obvious suspicious things till the point where he appeared.
"That’s all."
Davian was quiet for a mont, "Why have you been staying in your room even after that incident then?"
"I told you, I don’t like crowds or noisy people. There are nobles who are sending their servants to try to get to et them already that’s why I’ve been staying indoors."
"Does that also include how you are not inside your room at nights?" He asked and I paused for a split second.
"I do get suffocated inside so, I go out at nights sotis."
"How?"
I point at the balcony and he followed my gesture before frowning a little.
"That’s dangerous."
"... I can... fly." I said hesitantly and he looked at .
"So, what Sir Adler and others told that day wasn’t a jest." He mumbled and put a bite in his mouth.
"How can you fly?" He asked and I cleared my throat.
"I have wings."
I hadn’t ever showed my wings to anyone and I also had no way of explaining their origin. What could I say that I got these wings from Archangel Michael for completing his task?
I’d be taken away by the Church.
But, I hadn’t seen my wings myself quite often because they were quite beautiful and also very eye-catching, moreover, just as any angel’s wings they had that divine quality that could make anyone fall to their knees in awe.
Davian’s face seed stoic but his eyes seed to be shouting his desire to see them.
"Would you... like to see them?"
