"Master, I’ve brought you breakfast." Lyall announced as he stood at the doorway of the hotel room.
"Co in." I spoke as I lay on the bed staring off at the ceiling.
The mont Davian had ordered to leave, I had Lyall pack up and we left the castle without any notice. He had told to take the money for my work but I didn’t feel like staying there anymore so, I left right away.
Lyall placed the tray down on the table and stood quietly before he spoke up.
"The kids were asking for you, Master."
"Hm... And what should I do of it?"
I knew the kids were lingering right outside my room too scared to enter since I was in a sour mood.
"Should I send them off?"
I was quiet for a mont before I pushed myself off the bed and looked at the doorway, the kids who were peeking inside quickly hid.
"Did they eat?" I asked.
"Apparently not."
I sighed and saw the kids peeking again.
"Sylvia." I called and the elf girl flinched.
"Viella, Elysia, Vanya, Liam, Cyrus. Co inside all of you." I looked at the kids who fidgeted before they stepped in the room.
They were well-fed and well-dressed now so, I could see the mass growing on their bodies and also see the color on their pale skin. Their clothes were slightly bigger for their size but they seed to be doing better now.
"I thought I told you to eat on ti. It’s almost noon why haven’t you all eaten yet?" I asked and the kids flinched and looked at each other.
"Uh... that... we..."
"We-We wanted to... Well, that..."
"Master, that... erm..."
They all finally ended up looking at Sylvia, she had ended up as their leader and spokesperson as she was the one who had dragged into their lives.
"Tha-Tha-That Master, we were... waiting for you to eat first."
"You an you disobeyed my order because of that?"
She quickly shook her head, "No, no, Master, that-"
"Punishnt for everyone." I announced making their faces go pale.
"We-We’re sorry, Master."
"We-We won’t ever disobey you, Master!"
"Please forgive us!"
"Lyall," I called.
"Yes, Master!"
"I told you about those books, right?"
"Yes,"
"Distribute them among all of these kids and," I turned to the kids.
"All of you will have one book given to you, you will read it and write a report on what you understand from it. You have two days."
"What?!"
"Book? Report?"
"Now go and eat." I snapped and the kids jumped before they scampered away.
I shook my head slightly before I picked up the teacup from the tray and took a sip.
"You adore the kids, don’t you Master?" Lyall asked and I looked at him.
"Do you want the sa punishnt?"
Lyall cleared his throat, "Apologies, Master."
I ate the breakfast and Lyall left the room after that.
I didn’t expect to co down to Izkar after leaving Frosthail castle but for now the safe place for was here. I didn’t know if Davian had told the others about being a Dragon or anything about his misunderstanding but I couldn’t take any chances.
I was given the best and largest room of the inn with the best treatnt and a view of the entire street. The personnel was a bit wary of but that didn’t hinder with their performance besides, even the kids were trying to serve whenever they got a chance so, I could say I was living here like a King or rather a Queen.
"Reina? Reina, are you there?" I heard Silas voice and picked out the brooch from the drawer near my bed.
"I’m here, Uncle." I replied.
"Reina, where are you? I heard you left Davian’s place without any notice, did sothing happen?"
"Yes, he ca to know that I’m a Dragon." I answered without hiding anything.
"What?! How?"
"Rember the guy whom we saw at the Second Wall?"
"From that ti?" I sighed.
"Yes, he seems to think that I was in cahoots with them."
"What? That’s absurd!"
"I concur."
"What did you say then? Did you... explain things?"
"No, there’s no need to. I was going to leave that place soon, him throwing out was convenient."
"He threw you out?"
"Yes, he ordered us to leave, that’s why I left that place."
"Then, do you want help in clearing this misunderstanding?" He asked.
"No, let it be. It’ll be cleared out once I’ve completed my mission."
"Do you really have to do it, Reina? It’s dangerous."
"I’ll be fine, Uncle. Just make sure you don’t tell Father or Rune about it, and also take care of things in my absence."
"I will..." He sighed.
After two days, I was down at the lobby looking at the reports that the kids had written in their broken kingdom’s language and bad handwriting.
I read through their reports while they stood in line fidgeting, the personnel around seed to find the scene amusing as even they were standing around or sitting on the stools watching us.
They had worked hard on their punishnts just as I had told them to, though it didn’t seem like they understood what books they were given yet, they had managed to do their best.
"Hm, looks good enough. Just work on your writing skills and read more books."
The kids gulped and the Dwarf kid with bright red hair nad, Rowan asked, "D-Do we need to write reports on the other books we read as well?"
"No, just read them."
The kids rejoiced and I watched as they thanked and I turned to Kent.
"After they have built have proper bodies, start their training. They need to be strong to face the world, nothing can be best than having assassin’s skills."
"Understood, Master."
For dinner, I ended up going downstairs in the ss where everyone dined together. The steaming hot food was served and the kids were chattering around making the dreary looking place lively.
I ate in silence and after dinner, I sat in the lobby talking with Kent before I noticed the kids who were discussing sothing among themselves.
"What’s going on?" I ended up asking and Sylvia was pushed ahead.
"Erm..." Her tiny fingers clutched her thick blue dress before she t my eyes for a mont and then put her head.
"We-We have a request, Master!" Her voice ended up coming a pitch higher and I tilted my head placing my cheek on my fist as I looked down at her.
"What?"
She looked once back and sobody handed her a book, she gulped before she bowed ninety degrees with her hands stretched out to with the book.
"Please read us this story!"
I heard the gasps around and the kids behind looked at with slight fear and I looked at the book in her hands.
"The Chronicles of the Wandering Knight." I read the title of the book.
It seed like a fairy tale of this world. I took the book and the kids who were fidgeting amongst themselves watched with hopeful eyes.
I flipped a few pages before I humd.
"All right, huddle around." I spoke up making almost everyone in the hall stare at with wide eyes.
"Eh? Really?" Viella, another elf girl blurted out.
"You don’t want to?"
"No! No, we want!" The kids shouted and gathered around and sat down on the thick rug that was near the fireplace.
I looked at Kent and told him, "Get blankets."
He walked away while I opened the first page of the book.
"Once upon a ti, there was a valiant knight who..."
I started reading, while reading, I caught a glimpse of the expressions on the faces of the kids. I hadn’t ever done this kind of thing in my life before but this seed quite good since the kids seed to be enjoying it.
The story was quite good and after around and hour and a half it ended.
"... and the knight went on his path for in search of the next adventure. The end."
The kids’ faces seed slightly gloomy after the story ended. They were huddled up together sharing the blankets that Kent had distributed while the story was going on.
"What’s wrong? The story wasn’t good?"
"No, it’s just... the story ended."
The kids pouted and I smiled, "The story didn’t end,"
The kids looked slightly surprised, "Eh, but..."
"It says, the knight went in search for his next adventure so, his story will go on, don’t you think?"
The kids pondered over my words before they brightened up.
"Then what happens next?"
I shrugged my shoulders, "Who knows, everyone has their own adventures. You all can think up what he did after this story ended."
I showed them the book and the kids looked at each other before they looked at with grins.
"Thank you, Master!"
"Good night then." I said as I stood up.
"Good night, Master!"
The next day, I was overviewing so docunts when Lyall knocked on the door.
"Yes?"
"Master, Kyrell is here to see you." He inford and I nodded.
Kyrell stepped inside, "Master?"
I humd as I didn’t move my eyes from the docunt in my hand.
"We’re ready."
The words from the docunts disappeared and I looked up at Kyrell who gave a firm look.
"All the preparations are done."
I placed the docunt down before I felt a small smile tug at my lips.
"Finally."
It was ti for the restoration.
