"No, by a war, I an a war. A full fledged war."
The Commander stared at without a word before she leaned slightly ahead.
"With who?" She asked.
"I’ll give you the further information if you fulfill my two requests." I said bring up my two fingers.
"What are they?"
I smiled, "I’ll tell you those when the ti cos, one of them is for your Leader and second is for you, Commander."
She frowned, "?"
"Yes."
"So, will you tell us who is going to attack Mordino?" She asked.
"Sestia." I answered.
Her expression changed and a tiny gasp escaped her lips.
"Sestia?"
"Yes, the Scorpion tyrant has pissed soone off so, now they have declared a war." I answered shrugging my shoulders.
"Are you telling the truth?"
"I have no profit from lying here."
"How do you know of it? And why should we believe you?"
I smiled, "Your choice, my work here can be done without your help. I will take out the Tyrant, retrieve what I ca here for and leave before the war breaks out. So, who will be left to face the Sestian army?"
She pursed her lips in a firm line and I waited for her to reply.
The commander fidgeted a little before asking, "Who is coming?"
"Your correct question should be when are they coming, Commander." I rectified and her eyes hardened.
"When?"
"They will roughly require a week before they will be entering Mordino and if my predictions are right then, they will take out whatever is in the way."
I could see her throat move as she gulped.
"If you knew the war was so close then, why did you co here?"
"I have a promise to keep, that’s why,"
She stood up, "I’ll need to inform about this to the Leader right away."
"Take along." I said and she looked down at .
"I told you, I can’t." She said and I sighed.
"Commander, I heard this story when I had stopped at the small temple just on the outskirts of Mordino about the Saintess who prayed to the Gods for liberation from the demons and the Dragons descended answering her prayers." I spoke and her eye grew wide.
"If you have to save this country then, I am your only choice here." I spoke conclusively making her jaw clench.
"I... I will talk to our Leader regarding this first." She replied and I nodded.
"You should stay here for the ti being, we will move according to our Leader’s word." She said and I sighed.
"I don’t think you have that much ti, nor do I." I intercepted making her frown.
"I have sothing that I need to retrieve from the Scorpion’s lair. So, I can’t wait until your Leader hears of it all and then takes more ti to make a plan."
"Then, what do you suggest we do?"
"I already have a plan." I announced.
"But it can wait until you go and inform your Leader," I said as I stood up.
"I’ll return to my team and wait for your word then."
I walked over to the doorway and then turned to her.
"Also, can you please send so change of clothes and arrange a bath or sothing?" I added looking back at her.
"See you in a while." I bowed slightly with a smile making her eye stare daggers at .
I was able to find my way back without any problem and found my team mbers waiting for .
"Master!" Burglar was the first to pounce on .
"Whoa!" I gasped slling the strong scent of wine from her.
She was drunk.
"You’re such a beauty, Master!" She giggled ruffling my hair making sigh with a smile.
"I’m sorry, Master." Lyall walked over and pulled her off .
"Ack! Let go of , Swordsman. Our Master is so cute, I want to play with him!"
I cleared my throat and saw Sniper already passed out with his head down on the table and Doctor and Cook staggering towards . Remi who was sitting in his place straightened up as soon as I appeared.
"Master!" Both Cook and Doctor grabbed my arms each.
"Are you really our Master?" Cook asked.
"You’re really stronger than Mr Kyrell!" Doctor shouted.
It wasn’t annoying dealing with them rather it was cute to have them hover around like this. These all weren’t older than thirty yet, they were already on a life threatening mission on my word.
"Master! How old are you?"
"Why do you look so young?"
"Are you an elf?"
"Why are they all drunk?" I asked Lyall who was placing Burglar down on the ground.
"I told them it’s fine even if it’s poison since with you here nothing will happen to us." Lyall confessed as he walked up to to grab the other two off of .
"And they believed you?" I asked.
"I drank first."
I chuckled as I walked up to the table and sat down. After putting all three drunk assassins on the ground, Lyall walked up to and took a seat on the rock beside .
He fidgeted and I sighed, he wouldn’t ask any questions on his own but would fidget until I prompt.
"I didn’t et their Leader," I said and he frowned.
"What?"
"I t their Commander instead,"
I gave him a brief explanation of what happened and he sighed.
"Do we have enough ti to wait?" He asked and I nodded.
"Everything is going fine." I told him.
"And what about the war?"
"It will happen on ti as well."
Going back in ti around a month prior.
It was around the ti when I had just left the mountains of Frosthail and crossed the belt of wintery landscape. It was night ti and the temperature was still pretty volatile as I lay in my tent relaxing when I recieved an urgent news from Silas.
"The news is leaked!" He shouted urgently and I frowned.
"What news?"
"The news that the Golden Serpent and King were hiding. Now everyone knows, even Davian!"
This made hum as I relaxed in the blankets.
"What are you planning now?"
"Nothing, everything is going smoothly." I replied unfazed.
"Are you serious? Sestia is preparing for war on Mordino! Davian is going himself!"
"Ah, good." I mumbled.
"Good! This is good?! You’re heading in a country where there’s going to be a war, Reina!"
"Stop panicking, Uncle." I said.
"How could I stop panicking! We all are waiting for you here. Co back right now, you don’t need to be a part of this, Reina. Davian will look into this matter himself."
"Till the ti he arrives everything will be over."
"Reina, have you forgotten why you are going there?" He asked.
"Yes, I know why I’m going there."
He was silent for a mont before he asked, "What if they’re already dead?"
"They’re not."
A mont of silence followed before he asked another question.
"Do you know who leaked the news?"
"Yes."
"Who?"
"." I answered.
"I figured." He sighed.
"I had my sources from the capital release the news through the press for the people to know with authentic evidence."
"What kind of authentic evidence?"
"The letter sent by the King of Mordino to the King of Sestia."
"And how did you get it?" He asked.
"Grandfather."
"That old man!" I heard him curse silently before he sighed.
"What were you thinking, Reina? You were already going there so, why did you leak the news here that the King and Queen were hiding the fact that the monarch of Mordino had kidnapped the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Frosthail?"
I smiled, "For Davian to move. He needs to realise that his hope wasn’t in vain and I also wanted to ss with the Golden Serpent a little. Now the King will have no choice but to support Davian in rescuing the loyal subjects of Sestia or there will be trouble for them."
There was a pause from his side again and I waited for the information to sink in before he asked.
"How did you even have that old man do it for you?"
"Elaborate planning, Uncle. I need Sestia to move in ti for the revolution in Mordino to work."
"Revolution?"
"Yes, I can’t give you more details so, just wait till you hear it right from the news."
End of flashback.
The Golden Serpent and the King had received a letter from the Tyrant of Mordino that he had their Grand Duke and Grand Duchess as his captive around two months prior to reaching Frosthail.
But even after receiving that ssage the King and Queen decided to hide it since they saw it as an opportunity to get rid of a thorn in their side. Davian wasn’t much of an opponent if his parents were out of picture.
And the reason I knew this was because of Grandfather’s spies in the palace.
But, despite the urgency of the situation this news took ti before it reached my ears and it wasn’t until I was in Frosthail that I got to know of it.
Still, it didn’t cause much trouble in making a plan, all I had to do was request Grandfather to get an authentic evidence and send a ssage to Oasis to get soone to release it through press anonymously.
Alarice and Dahlia were celebrated heroes of North and also were famous throughout the kingdom so, the news would spread like a wildfire and create discontent among the people and nobles.
They wouldn’t dare to demand answers from the monarchs but they would still exert enough pressure for the King to deploy Army to rescue the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess.
For Davian, though, I had to drag him into this to teach him life lesson about hope and also because, I hated the fact that in all the stories that I had read in my past life most of the characters had traumas because of losing their parents. I couldn’t let Davian or Eric go through it that’s why I had planned accordingly so that there wouldn’t be any unnecessary sacrifices.
I wasn’t a hero to sacrifice myself or a villain to sacrifice my pawns. I was a strategist and I took calculated risks so that no one would lose sothing dear to them for my cause.
