In anticipation of his beloved little granddaughter’s arrival, Grandpa Shu had prepared plenty of delicious food and fun activities early on, just waiting for Jiaojiao to co over.
However, when she did arrive, he found that his little granddaughter had turned into a cat. Not only that, but she didn’t rember him at all.
Grandpa Shu imdiately felt as if the sky was falling. After learning the truth from Shu Jiao, he waved his hand and went into his room, saying before he closed the door, "Don’t co in, I need to take so ti to calm down."
Considering his age, the Ruanlin Family was a bit worried when they saw his deanor. "Is your dad alright?" they asked Shu Jiao.
Shu Jiao was genuinely concerned seeing Grandpa Shu like this, followed and knocked on the door, asking worriedly, "Dad, should we call a doctor to check on you?"
"Don’t bother , let have so peace!" Grandpa Shu shouted from inside, his voice filled with vigor.
"..." Following alongside was Shu Wen, who patted Shu Jiao’s arm, saying, "Forget it. After all, he’s old now, and it’s harder for him to accept new things than it is for young people. Let’s give Dad so ti."
Shu Jiao thought about it and realized that might be the only option.
Although sleeping on the train all the way there was certainly restful, being cramped on the small bed had made her a bit weary. While comforting the Ruan Family and sending them to rest, Shu Wen had the servants prepare a al.
There were two hours left until noon, enough for the Ruan Family to recharge.
Once the Ruan Family returned to their rooms, the living room suddenly beca quiet. Shu Wen and Qin Qiong were busy preparing for tomorrow’s engagent party, occupied with their efforts, so they didn’t plan to have lunch there and left after arranging for the Ruan Family.
What they didn’t know was that once the living room fell silent, Grandpa Shu secretly opened his door, picked up the living room phone, and made about a dozen calls in a row, speaking in a deliberately low tone as if hiding from others.
Ruan Jiaojiao hadn’t slept at all. Saying she went to lie down was actually just giving the adults so space to talk. Now seeing the tranquility outside, she wandered out with Xiu Xi.
As soon as she ca out, she heard Grandpa Shu talking on the phone downstairs. She blinked curiously and strained her ears to pick up so words, faintly catching sothing about fish.
But when she tried to listen carefully, Grandpa Shu hung up the phone, satisfied, and walked back to his room. When he reached the vicinity of the staircase, he inexplicably glanced upwards.
Jiaojiao instinctively retreated several steps until she bumped into Xiu Xi’s shoes.
"What’s up?" Xiu Xi asked, peering downstairs.
Jiaojiao imdiately shook her head nervously, signaling him not to look.
Downstairs, Grandpa Shu, a bit hard of hearing, didn’t catch Xiu Xi’s voice and thought his actions were unnoticed, leisurely returning to his room with his hands behind his back.
It wasn’t until she heard the door close downstairs that Jiaojiao stretched her neck to look down.
"ow?" What’s that old man up to?
She muttered to herself, scratching her whiskers.
"Weren’t we going for a walk?" Xiu Xi picked her up and headed downstairs.
"ow." Yes, yes, let’s go for a walk.
Being cooped up on the train for the past few days had really stifled her, and she couldn’t fall asleep now, so she wanted to go for a walk.
The Shu family’s garden was huge, and Jiaojiao, with her short and chubby legs, wandered around the lake downstairs twice before running out of energy. It didn’t even take twenty minutes, and she was genuinely asleep when she was carried back inside.
