When they went to register, Jiaojiao noticed other parents were waiting downstairs. She didn’t want the Ruanlin family and Grandpa Shu to struggle climbing the stairs, so she had them wait below.
Even Duan Xi wanted to follow her upstairs, but she refused: "Brother Xi, you should go register with your departnt. Don’t follow and waste ti. We’ll et downstairs later. My older brother can accompany ."
Duan Xi thought for a mont and agreed it would be a waste of ti, so he left with Duan Xin.
Jiaojiao and Ruan Hao went upstairs to register, and they finished in less than twenty minutes. When they ca down, Duan Xi was already waiting, surprising Jiaojiao with his speed.
"Brother Xi, you’re really fast."
"Of course I’m fast! I almost bolted out of fear!" Duan Xin clutched his side, sticking out his tongue. In this heat, they ran back and forth. He couldn’t understand why they had to hurry as if soone would abduct Jiaojiao!
"Huh?" Jiaojiao gave him a skeptical look.
Compared to the red-faced and sweaty Duan Xin, Duan Xi appeared completely normal, without a drop of sweat.
"No need." Duan Xi said as he took her hand and walked ahead: "Better to get to the dorm early to choose a spot."
University dorms are different from those in high school. When Ruan Lei stayed in dorms, the bed numbers were pre-assigned. But in college, it’s first co, first served. To get a good spot, you need to grab it early.
Jiaojiao and the others lived close to the university, so they got there early and could pick a decent spot.
Aside from Grandpa Shu, the other four n hurried to move the luggage as soon as they found the dorm building. Though it was the first day of school, boys were not allowed inside the girls’ dorms. But when Jiaojiao’s group arrived, the dorm aunt was busy and didn’t notice them. Ruan Jianguo completely ignored the "No Boys Allowed" sign on the blackboard and lugged the luggage upstairs.
Jiaojiao thought they were early, but there was already soone else’s stuff in the dorm, though the person was nowhere to be seen.
The dorm rooms were standardized with four-person occupancy; bed on top, desk below, with a private bathroom and small balcony.
Together it was about twenty or thirty square ters. Compared to the high school dorms she’d seen, it was vastly improved.
However, after the n brought up the luggage, Ruan Jianguo couldn’t help but frown, pacing around the dorm. He first looked at the pitifully small single bed, then at the tiny bathroom and balcony, and finally said: "This is too small! The bed is barely a hand’s width. Wouldn’t our darling fall off if she turns in her sleep?"
"Darling, maybe we should talk to your teacher about not staying here. The conditions are too poor. Don’t worry, Dad has already prepared a dical certificate for you; they’ll definitely approve!"
Ruan Jianguo was thoroughly uneasy, thinking it was unfair for Jiaojiao to stay in such conditions.
"Dad, I’m not practicing martial arts while sleeping. How would I fall off? I think it’s fine," Jiaojiao said. She truly felt it was alright, much better than those high school ones, except for being a bit small.
"But..." Ruan Jianguo wanted to say sothing when suddenly there was an exclamation at the door: "Oh my, did we take a wrong turn? Why are there so many n in here?"
