"Jiaojiao, are you cold? Have a sip." In front, Duan Qianyang saw the two get in the car and imdiately handed over a pink thermos cup with cartoon characters on it.

Ruan Jiaojiao took it with a puzzled look, and as soon as she opened it, the scent of ginger sugar and red dates wafted out. She glanced at Duan Qianyang in surprise. This was sothing she often drank at ho because she suffered from coldness in her body and needed these warming and nourishing ginger sugar drinks, but she didn’t expect Duan Qianyang to know about it and even bring her a bottle.

She took a small sip, and the ginger sugar water slid down her throat, warming her entire body. She looked up and thanked Duan Qianyang gratefully, "Thank you, Uncle Duan."

"No need to thank , drink more. It’s brewed with old ginger to dispel coldness, with red dates added, which I’ve heard are good for energy," Duan Qianyang said with a smile. He didn’t know about Ruan Jiaojiao’s condition; he had just heard she caught a cold recently and it took her half a month to get better. So he intentionally asked for so redies and, knowing they would et today, had the household help prepare it early in the morning.

"Okay! I’ll drink it all." Ruan Jiaojiao nodded obediently, taking small sips with her head down. The drink was so comforting that her big eyes narrowed into slits, looking particularly endearing.

"What about Xiaoxi and ?" Duan Xin, sitting to the side, asked deliberately.

"You want so?" Duan Qianyang started the car, glanced over through the rearview mirror, and said with a smile, "Sure, this is a tonic for girls. If you like, I’ll prepare so for you next ti."

Ruan Jiaojiao laughed and cooperatively raised her thermos cup, "Xin Brother, if you want so, I can pour you a little later?"

This ti, before Duan Xin could answer, Duan Xi, sitting next to Ruan Jiaojiao, shot a cold glance at him. Duan Xin imdiately waved his hands exaggeratedly, indicating he didn’t want any. How could he dare!

To ensure Ruan Jiaojiao and Duan Xi could return ho easily in the evening, Duan Qianyang picked a restaurant nearby, one they had visited before for private dishes.

When they arrived, the restaurant was very quiet, with no one else around.

While in the car, Ruan Jiaojiao initially thought she would run into Duan Sishu and Feng Nianian again, but when the waiter led them to a private room, she found it empty.

She took the opportunity while Duan Qianyang was speaking with the waiter to softly ask Duan Xin, "Brother Xin, is it just us? No one else?"

"You’re asking about Aunt, right?" Duan Xin replied, "Don’t worry, Father didn’t invite her; she won’t co."

Duan Xin used to feel indifferent about his aunt Duan Sishu, but over the years, as they interacted more, he began to dislike her, especially her harshness towards Duan Xi. Her words always belittled Duan Xi; he couldn’t stand it. It’s the modern age—who still talks about legitimate and illegitimate children as if it’s the old society.

However, what Duan Xin didn’t ntion was that Duan Sishu would have fewer opportunities to appear publicly because after the last engagent party, rumors began spreading throughout Beidu, saying that Duan Sishu, after years of widowhood, was lovesick and had developed so ntal issues.

As for what these issues were, it wasn’t explicitly stated, but anyone with a bit of sense would understand.

So since then, Duan Sishu has rarely gone out. Ruan Jiaojiao knew about this too, after all, it was Duan Xi who had told Duan Qianyang at the ti, but she also knew it wasn’t true.
