This—this is quail?
And there are so many? I quickly counted at least twenty, each one very plump!
All of them lay on the ground, flapping their wings as if drunk, unable to fly up, only circling on the ground.
After their surprise, everyone's actions outpaced their thoughts, and they stood up as one, pouncing toward the quails on the ground, tumbling into one ssy bundle.
In the end, not a single quail escaped; they caught them all.
Everyone's faces blood with smiles.
When they were catching the quails, Ruan Jie held Ruan Jiaojiao in his arms, protecting her from being knocked down. Of course, she didn't catch any quail, but all five of her brothers, including Little Fatty, caught at least one, and Ruan Wei even caught two.
Ruan Jiaojiao watched them, holding the quails and laughing heartily, showing off to one another, her mind completely befuddled, still in a state of shock.
She had just wanted to eat quail, and then quail fell from the sky? Could it be such a coincidence?
If she wanted to eat sothing else then, like pheasants, perhaps two of them, would that work?
Turns out, it really could!
No sooner had she finished the thought than two pheasants with striking wings ca rushing over from not far away, and they both darted toward her, one colliding with each of her knees.
She was knocked over onto the feet of Ruan Jie behind her.
A ten-pound pheasant, just like that knocked out cold on her knee?
"This is..."
"My God..."
"Jiaojiao!" Ruan Jie's first reaction was to pick Ruan Jiaojiao up from the ground. He anxiously rolled up her pant leg on her knee, which rapidly reddened before his eyes. He found it as distressing as anything could be.
The other brothers crowded around, eyes filled with distress and regret; they'd been too ecstatic and shocked just now, failing to protect their sister in ti.
This ti, Ruan Jiaojiao was truly dumbfounded, unable to imagine that such a coincidence could happen.
She looked up, glancing all around, and this ti she dared not think of anything else. What if she thought of an ox, and it fell straight onto her, flattening her into a at pancake?
Ruan Jie, now preoccupied with nothing else, only rembered that his sister had been injured in his care, and was heartbroken. He carried her and ran towards ho, while his other brothers followed; halfway there, Ruan Chi seed to rember sothing, turned around, and walked back.
He approached Wa Yiting, who was holding a pheasant in her hand, with another one still on the ground.
"Give it to ." He reached out his hand to Wa Yiting.
Wa Yiting tucked her hand behind her back, not wanting to give it up, her voice low in defense, "I found it first!"
"Bullshit! This was hit by my sister! She used her knee, and now it's bruised purple, didn't you see?!" Ruan Chi retorted angrily, turning his head to the others and asked, "Didn't you all see too? These two pheasants hit my sister's knee, right? Her leg got hurt like this, and you still have the nerve to fight over her chickens?"
The others never intended to claim the pheasants for themselves, so upon hearing this, they all shook their heads. So even urged Wa Yiting to give the pheasant back to Ruan Chi.
Wa Yiting still didn't want to give it up; she hadn't had at for so long, and if she brought the pheasant back ho, her aunt would definitely let her have a bit. Even if she wasn't allowed to eat any, she could still steal a piece while cooking it.
Ruan Chi didn't care for all that. Seeing she still wouldn't give in, he grabbed her wrist and snatched it away.
"This pheasant was brought down by my sister getting injured, so we won't share it with you. Take those quails and divide them up."
