Eggs were such a common thing that he could have them whenever he wanted, yet for so reason, watching Ruan Jiaojiao nibble away at hers, he found himself craving one too, inexplicably feeling that the egg in her hand was the tastiest.
He felt this way, and so did the other boys, practically drooling over it.
“Is that enough?” Xiu Xi asked Ruan Jiaojiao as he peeled another egg.
The Ruanlin Family had worried about the children getting hungry during the break, so they had specially prepared two boiled eggs for them, not to ntion the abundance of candies and biscuits.
Xiu Xi’s backpack was filled with textbooks for both of them, while Ruan Jiaojiao’s backpack was packed with snacks and treats.
Ruan Jiaojiao glanced at him, nodded, and said with a smile, “That’s enough, Brother Xi can eat it.”
Upon hearing that, Xiu Xi finally put the remaining egg into his own mouth as if the boys surrounding them didn’t exist.
While he could do so, Ruan Jiaojiao couldn’t.
Thinking of the candies that the Ruanlin Family had specifically put in her backpack before she left ho that day, she reached into her bag and rummaged through it. The boys, seeing this, fixed their gaze on her, both curious and expectant, wondering what other tasty treats she would pull out.
When they saw Ruan Jiaojiao extract a handful of brightly wrapped candies, they were wide-eyed in astonishnt.
Ruan Jiaojiao glanced at them, turned out all the candies from her bag, and roughly counted them. There were at least thirty pieces, enough to share.
After quickly finishing her egg, she stood up and went around the five boys in front of her, giving each of them a piece.
The boys looked at each other, wanting to take one but feeling embarrassed to do so.
It wasn’t until Ruan Jiaojiao stuffed the candies directly into their hands that they happily accepted them.
Peeling off the shiny candy shells and popping the sweets into their mouths, the sugary taste spread instantly, making their eyes squint happily. With their greedy expressions, they bore no resemblance to the little ruffians they had been just before but seed more like a group of little gluttons.
Xiu Xi had also heard the Ruanlin Family’s words when they were sent out that morning and, for once, didn’t show any displeasure when Ruan Jiaojiao shared candies with others.
After distributing to the five boys, Ruan Jiaojiao stood up again and started handing out candies from the first desk onwards. Those who had arrived were surprised and pleased to receive a piece; the boys shyly accepted it while the girls almost instantly treated Ruan Jiaojiao as a good friend, gathering around her and chatting warmly. For those who hadn’t arrived, Ruan Jiaojiao simply placed the candies on their desks.
When it was Xiu Cheng’s turn, Ruan Jiaojiao was not stingy. Although she didn’t like him, she couldn’t bring herself to ostracize him and still gave him a piece.
Unfortunately, her willingness to offer did not equate to his willingness to accept, and he slapped her hand away as she reached out to him.
The classroom was quiet, and Ruan Jiaojiao’s little chubby hand created a loud echo with the slap that resounded throughout.
At the sound of the “smack,” Xiu Xi’s face turned sour in an instant.
The four boys who were outside grouping together to check on their sister were taken aback for a mont, then rushed over.
Little Fatty, impulsive by nature, ran over and kicked Xiu Cheng’s stool, sending him tumbling to the ground.
Xiu Xi had already run over and positioned Ruan Jiaojiao behind him for protection.
“You little bastard, wasn’t last ti enough for you?” Ruan Wei cursed angrily, ready to follow up with another kick after Little Fatty’s, but he was stopped by Ruan Feng.
