Xiu Xi sat beside her but didn’t answer. Instead, he stared at the receding figure of Jiang Bin and asked, “Is he leaving?” His tone carried an indescribable flavor. Ruan Jiaojiao carefully pondered and felt it was a mixture of delight or perhaps schadenfreude.
“Xiu Brother, why don’t you like Xiu Xun?” Ruan Jiaojiao was really puzzled. Although he wasn’t the Xiu Xi she used to know and didn’t like Wa Yiting either, she didn’t understand why he had such great animosity toward Xiu Xun.

“Good girl.” Xiu Xi patted her head and stood up to go to the kitchen.

She puffed out her cheeks in a huff, feeling that ever since he had grown taller than her, the way he treated her had changed. He was no longer the equal playmate he used to be! Always patting her head, telling her to be good as though they weren’t equal!
Hmph! One day, she too would grow up and get taller!
The next day was Sunday. Xiu Xun didn’t go to work at the Ruan Family restaurant but was taken by Jiang Bin to a major hospital in the provincial capital. The results were due to co out in three days. After the test, they returned from the provincial capital, and it was already dark. Jiang Bin dropped him off right in front of the Ruan Family’s building and didn’t continue inside. Before the report ca out, he wasn’t planning on discussing it with Xiu Jianhong and Hu Yun.
Before the two of them returned, they had dinner outside, so even though the Ruanlin Family eagerly invited them, both declined. After watching Xiu Xun enter the house, Jiang Bin drove away.

Right after the second period’s class break and flag-raising ceremony, Ruan Jiaojiao followed the crowd back to the classroom, Ruan Lei bounced off to the snack bar to buy so food, and Xiu Xi was called away by the class teacher.

“What’s wrong?” Yang Tao, who had been talking animatedly, saw that Ruan Jiaojiao had suddenly stopped responding and turned to look at her.
“I don’t know; it feels like sothing pricked .” Ruan Jiaojiao said, and as she spoke, she felt her back again.
“Pricked?” Yang Tao looked around in confusion, then felt Ruan Jiaojiao’s back: “I don’t feel any thorns.”
Ruan Jiaojiao frowned: “Maybe I was mistaken.” She didn’t pay much attention to it; although the prick had indeed hurt, she couldn’t feel anything now and thought it might have been her imagination.
