"T-that’s a three tailed ice fox?"
Still in Adrian’s palm but obviously looking different was Renelle’s ice spirit.
Although she had seen it evolve in her past life, it was never like this. She had fed it beast cores until it beca pri spirit, thereby pushing her to SS rank, but for it to develop multiple tails.....that was quite different.
The ice spirit, now radiated a cold aura even though it wasn’t actively releasing any, its previously single tail had split into three.
Its fur, although still white, now had glowing blue streaks beneath them, the brightest of the streaks being on its forehead, shaped like so sort of diamond.
Even its mana looked different, well not completely, it still looked like at cold mist originating from the fox, but it now looked multiple tis larger than what it previously was.
From just that, Adrian was sure that it had just moved from its previous Advance rank to Pri in one go, imdiately catching up to its power level in the manhwa.
Though, through all this, he forgot a tiny detail.
THUD!
Renelle suddenly fell forward, fortunately, he moved fast enough to prevent her from hitting anything that’d cause damage.
Adrian looked at her face, noticing that it suddenly seed unusually pale, and that’s when he recalled what that damn author had written.
Since Renelle was contracted to the ice spirit, it ant they shared a mana pool and a sudden increase in one would imdiately force the other to increase.
As her body didn’t currently have enough mana to support her spirit that was suddenly at Pri rank, it has also been forced to go through an evolution.
Or rather, a breakthrough.
"Damn it," Adrian muttered as he comfortably positioned her, letting her head rest on his lap as her body seed to be getting colder by the second.
As much as he knew about the manhwa, he had been montarily distracted, causing him to make such a reckless mistake.
Was there a way to help her?
Not really, she had to complete the breakthrough or she would undergo so type of retribution.
At best, the contract between her and her ice beast would be voided, setting the much stronger beast free.
And at worst, she’d just turn into an ice sculpture.
But he wasn’t going to let that happen. Even if the manhwa insisted that there was no way of helping, he was going to find a way.
The carriage soon ca to a halt, and the mont the door opened, he rushed out with Renelle in his arms, surprising the coach.
Margaret, who was waiting by the door, imdiately got worried the mont she spotted the new Butler rushing up the stairs with the lady in his arms.
Hell, she didn’t even know that the Butler had left the mansion, last she heard from the maids was that there was so sort of terrifying aura spilling from his room.
And now, he was here?
"Is she okay?" She muttered in worry, "what happened to the young lady?"
"She’s going through a breakthrough," Adrian explained with as few words as he could manage, "lead to her room."
"Right this way," Margaret imdiately rushed forward, leading the way as fast as she could.
Renelle was getting colder by the second and by the ti they reached her room, she was already freezing cold.
It was so intense that she was emitting mist.
Her room was a large one with multiple hanged photos of the prince, but Adrian wasn’t interested in looking around right now.
Instead, he quickly approached the large bed.
"Get a hot towel," he imdiately ordered the mont he placed her on the bed and Margaret didn’t think twice before moving.
What was a hot towel going to do?
Absolutely nothing, but that wasn’t the point right now, for now, he just needed the room to himself as he thought of what to do.
He watched Renelle’s spirit stick close to her in worry, before he suddenly got an idea.
"Noctis," he called and the cat imdiately exited the [Shadow Vault].
"Can I—"
He didn’t get to finish his words before the cat suddenly cut him off.
«Your mana has already been assigned my elent, so you’re incompatible with hers,» Noctis explained, realizing what its contractor was planning.
Seeing the look on Adrian’s face, the cat sighed before adding, «though you might be able to temporar—»
"Then let’s do it," he demanded, cutting the cat off mid sentence.
«There’s a chance that there might be a clash, which would likely blow you up,» Noctis explained, «do you still want to go ahead—»
"Yes," Adrian cut it off again, replying without the least bit of hesitation.
The cat, at this point looked annoyed at being interrupted twice in a row, especially given that he interrupted him only once.
«You didn’t even let finish,» it grumbled.
"I don’t need the full explanation," Adrian replied flatly, already rolling up his sleeve, "just tell what to do."
«Fine, place your palm on a bare part of her skin, the closer to her heart, the better,» Noctis instructed.
If it wasn’t for the fact that the situation before him was urgent, Adrian might’ve thought that the cat was intentionally trying to get him to be seen as a pervert by anyone who walked in.
But, he didn’t have ti to think right now, especially given that patches of frost have slowly started appearing on Renelle’s skin.
Adrian adjusted her position on the bed before placing a hand on her chest, just a bit above her heart.
«Now try imagining her mana flowing through you,» Noctis instructed again, and he followed.
As if waiting for so sort of outlet, the mont he tried absorbing her mana, instead of slowly moving out, it quickly rushed towards him and through his pathways.
This made him freeze in surprise for a short while, but the cat quickly pulled him out of his temporary trance.
«Don’t freeze up and let it settle in your pathways!» Noctis snapped, «guide it out!»
Again, he followed, pulling her excessive mana through him and expelling it out the atmosphere.
But did that an it was easy?
Not in the least bit.
The mont the ice mana interacted with his shadow mana, the violent reaction was imdiate.
He could feel himself internally freezing just before releasing the ice mana, and that feeling was quickly cumulating.
The temperature in the room dropped even further for a brief mont before stabilizing slightly.
"Again," he muttered as he pulled even more mana into himself, but this ti, instead of simply being released, a sudden sound was heard.
CRACK!
Adrian slowly looked down, and sure enough, his arms were now covered in a layer of ice, and on one of them, was a subtle crack.
«You’re taking in too much at once, idiot,» Noctis inford, «regulate it.»
"Ghk—!" Adrian let out as another crack appeared on his arms, but he didn’t stop.
The more he continued, the worse the cracks got, but he still held on and soon enough, the results were obvious.
The patches of frost appearing on Renelle’s skin started disappearing, and her breathing finally stabilized, so did her body temperature.
Only then did he finally relax, and just in ti too, because Margaret walked in exactly at that mont.
"I brought the—" she paused seeing the state he was in, and looked down at his arms that seed to have beco a pale blue.
"A-are you okay?" She asked, her concern was obvious in her tone.
"I’m fine," Adrian answered, even though he seed undeniably exhausted, "just need so rest, in the anti, can you take care of her? She should be stable now."
Margaret looked towards Renelle and noticed that her skin tone seed a lot healthier than before.
Even her breakthrough seed to be going smoothly now, if the glow around her was anything to go by.
"Alright, but you also need so—"
THUD
Margaret didn’t get to complete her words when a thud was heard behind him causing her to quickly turn.
"Adrian!"
