Dark Leaf laughed heartily, "This is the fire blessing us! Everyone, attack quickly!"

"Did the evil spirits poke the Brain-eating Demon’s nest before they ca?" Mo’er’s glass eyes popped out of their sockets.

"Master Mo’er, kill the evil spirits!"

The six Brain-eating Demons fought valiantly, but ultimately they were torn to shreds by the evil spirits, who devoured their bodies.

Suddenly, a flash of inspiration struck Rod, and he rembered he still had a piece of "Contaminated Brain-eating Demon’s Soul Ashes" made from a contaminated Sun Stone.

What would happen if these evil spirits consud the contaminated monsters?

Would the contamination stack, making them stronger?

Or would they beco just as chaotic as the summoned monsters?

Rod didn’t hesitate, taking out the contaminated Soul Ashes and throwing them into the swarm of monsters.

The mont the giant brain appeared, it wildly attacked all nearby spiritual bodies, and its link with Rod’s mind beca chaotic and filled with aningless screeches.

Its frenzied attacks provoked an even more violent response, and after the evil spirits had finished feasting on the giant brain, sothing seed off about them.

The pale spiritual bodies took on a shit-yellow hue, exhibiting severe instability and rejection, and they aimlessly drifted in the air for a while before suddenly starting to slaughter each other.

Countless scythes were raised against identical spiritual bodies, each reaping the other.

Soon, the hall was filled with broken spiritual bodies, which ignited into pale flas under the light of the fire and turned to ash.

With the pressure on them greatly reduced, Dark Leaf laughed so hard his jaw nearly dislocated, not forgetting to strike viciously at the giant evil spirit.

Finally, after Bach landed another Moonlight Giant Arrow, a flaw appeared on the giant evil spirit’s spiritual body.

Rod, who had been waiting on the sidelines, imdiately thrust in a "Soul Blast".

His semi-spiritual right hand touched the soul string of the giant evil spirit and deftly grasped it.

But when Rod pulled outward, a powerful resistance travelled up the soul string.

Rod’s heart skipped a beat.

This was the first ti he had encountered such a thing, and he imdiately summoned all his Spiritual Energy, pulling hard, but the resistance grew stronger.

"Soul Blast" had a ti limit, with the semi-spiritual right hand lasting only five seconds, after which it would revert to a physical state and be expelled.

In his urgency, Rod cried out, "Karamon, strengthen !"

Karamon, who had been standing by Bach’s side, was taken aback, "Is your spiritual power cannon ready? I thought there was half a day left."

"Give it to him," Bach said calmly but firmly.

Karamon didn’t hesitate. He raised his hand, and a white light fell upon Rod.

In an instant, Rod felt his Spiritual Energy boiling over, with a powerful force coming from the depths of his soul, allowing him to snap the soul string and withdraw his right hand.

Hum!

It was as if sothing had broken in the void, the giant evil spirit’s body stiffened, then collapsed, deflating like a jellyfish.

Countless streams of light rose from its body, flooding the entire hall.

A massive black streak entered Rod’s body.

[Soul Without Spirit 10050]

Rod’s smile imdiately collapsed.

What’s going on?

I clearly killed it with a "Soul Blast," so why is there no soul?

As the light fell, a huge cheer erupted around him, and he felt he was embraced by countless people, their excited voices echoing in his ears.

But Rod paid no attention, feeling that sothing was amiss.

This sense of wrongness was also perceived by Steel Hand, Bach, Dark Leaf, and Mo’er.

---

After clearing the battlefield, the fortress quickly restored order.

Fortunately, no massive Monster Tide had erged during this ti, otherwise things would have been much worse.

Steel Hand convened a eting in the command room, and all combatants not on duty attended.

He began by reporting the casualties.

The unexpected evil spirit attack had resulted in nineteen deaths, including six combatants and thirteen logistical personnel.

The battle occurred very unexpectedly, with evil spirits suddenly erging from the Spirit Realm and first attacking the Spiritual Power Generator in the basent, but Mina reacted swiftly, imdiately activating the inner Spiritual Protection.

Although the Spiritual Power Generator suffered significant energy loss, it did not sustain fatal damage.

Afterward, the evil spirits turned to attack the Guardian Fire Sacrificial Ground, and Mo’er also decisively engaged the defensive shell of the Guardian Fire.

However, the appearance of the giant evil spirit caused considerable damage to the fire, severely weakening its power, and the field’s range would be reduced to within two hundred yards.

"I seriously suspect that this attack was orchestrated by soone,"

Steel Hand said gravely.

"The evil spirits’ assault was too targeted; normal monster hordes couldn’t act with such precision."

Blackfish asked curiously, "Can soone manipulate monsters?"

Dark Leaf replied, "Complete manipulation is impossible, as monsters will pollute your mind, drain your sanity, and inevitably lead you to madness and death."

Steel Hand gave him a look, "How do you know so much about this?"

Dark Leaf coughed, "The Nonhuman Voices of Calier had conducted similar experints."

Rod’s heart skipped a beat; surely not the case for Soul Ashes or Wood Puppets?

Fortunately, soone asked what he had been thinking, "Are Rod’s Wood Puppets monsters?"

The Wood Puppet was standing by, having already been inspected.

Steel Hand shook his head, "This is not a monster, it’s an artificially created construct, but I’ve never seen this model of Rod’s before; it’s unexpectedly strong. Was it made by so Master?"

Rod touched his nose and answered, "It was a gift from a friend."

"Then it must be a very good friend. Such constructs are very expensive, nearly impossible to use on the battlefield, they can only serve as personal defensive items."

Rod could only nod, "A very good friend indeed."

At that mont, Mo’er, Mina, and Anna walked in, their expressions exceedingly grim as they said:

"We’ve checked all the traces and can confirm that it was man-made. Soone brought Corrosive Material that attracts evil spirits and deposited it near the basent and the Guardian Fire Sacrificial Ground, thus attracting a large number of evil spirits."

Whoosh—

Everyone stood up, the warriors of Sword Pass looking exceedingly angered.

Many drew their weapons, scanning their surroundings to find the traitor.

"Don’t rush," Mo’er said gravely. "There’s worse news. Nearby, likely on the Corpse Wasteland, there’s a powerful evil spirit overlord controlling the souls of all evil spirits. That giant evil spirit was one of its vessels. I’ve detected an abnormal signal in the Spirit Realm; it’s a mark left by it, and it has already marked us. For a long ti to co, it will send evil spirits to attack us."

Everyone’s hearts sank into a cold abyss.

They had only managed to scrape through this attack thanks to the sudden appearance of a Brain-eating Demon.

Had the evil spirits not suddenly turned on each other in madness, their losses would have been much greater.

And now this nightmare was to co again?

Blackfish said in bewildernt, "Didn’t we exterminate all the evil spirits?"

Mo’er shook his head, "The active evil spirits on Corpse Wasteland are just a small fraction, and there are many more evil spirits sleeping unseen in the depths. This place of the Dusk Legion’s defeat in the Third Epoch has countless warriors buried here, which is why it’s called Corpse Wasteland; the evil spirits are their lingering, resentful souls."

Steel Hand voiced the question on everyone’s mind, "What do we do?"

Mo’er paused for a mont before answering, "Three thods."

"First, passive defense, fully preparing to et the attack."

"Second, a proactive strike, killing the evil spirit overlord we’ve awakened."

"And the last one."

He hesitated before continuing,

"Call for reinforcents."
