Now reading: Chapter 199 - 144 Chucher of Apple Town from The Last King Of Darkness, a Eastern novel by Mountains and rivers have no memory.

The last ti Rod underwent a Spiritual Power upgrade, it was Mina who conducted the ceremony for him. After the enhancent, all aspects of Rod’s abilities had greatly improved, even his dreams had undergone so changes.

The grade of one’s Spiritual Energy is equivalent to the rank of one’s soul and is an important indicator of a person’s combat ability. Although it isn’t absolute, it still indirectly proves its significance.

Of course, Rod had no objections to this; he had been waiting for a long ti.

On the way, Vera told him that the First and Second Levels of Spiritual Energy are external to the system and are non-standard. The journey from Second Level to Third Level Spiritual Energy is the longest, with most trainees taking two to three years to make this step.

But you took less than two months, which already places you among the fastest.

Rod didn’t care much, as he felt it was still too slow.

"However," Vera said, "this isn’t considered the peak. Your special training is about to begin, and you’ll et even stronger people. I hope you can learn from each other and grow faster."

Rod asked, "Mr. Principal, will there be language classes in the special training?"

Vera said, "If you don’t mind the extra work, I can specifically add that class just for you."

"That would be great."

Rod nodded. If he couldn’t decipher the aning of the invasive texts, he would never be at ease.

Afterward, the two chatted casually for a while.

Vera might seem stern and harsh, but he was actually quite amicable.

He told Rod that there were three hundred and forty students in the secret branch, ninety of whom were special students. In the past month, they had all made significant progress and had been recognized as an independent Battle Group by the General Military Departnt, alleviating much of Trolian’s pressure.

But among them, those marked as "Strong," the elite of the elite, were almost all special students. Rod would soon beco one of them. Their mission intensity was very high, and Vera hoped Rod could quickly make up for his weaknesses and beco a well-rounded combatant.

It sounded like a good thing, Rod thought.

Upon arriving at the ceremonial hall at the base’s lowest level, Rod did as Mina instructed: he took off his outer clothing and lay on the platform.

Mina looked sowhat downcast and had grown thinner, but she still prepared the ceremony for Rod diligently.

Vera placed a pure white crystal on Rod’s chest, and the ceremony began.

Rod felt a powerful heat emanating from his chest. His blood turned hot and boiled while a strong sense of drowsiness rose in his soul, causing him to involuntarily close his eyes.

When he woke up, the ceremony had ended, and only Mina was left in the great hall.

She said softly, "The ceremony was very successful. Let’s asure your Spiritual Energy."

Taking Rod’s hand, she led him to another room and conducted a comprehensive examination.

Before long, a new report appeared.

Spiritual Power Level: 3

Highest Spiritual Power Strength: 2.1 thousand ticks

Maximum Spiritual Energy Output: 350 ticks

Average Spiritual Pressure: 115

Estimated Total Spiritual Energy: 210-910 thousand ticks

——

Mina said softly, "The data is very healthy, which ans your soul has no defects and the strength is quite even. Once your highest Spiritual Power Strength exceeds 6 thousand ticks, you can co for the next Spiritual Energy ceremony."

Rod, noticing Mina’s profound lancholy, asked with concern, "What’s wrong? Haven’t you recovered yet?"

Mina shook her head and whispered, "It’s nothing. The reimbursent you requested will be approved soon. The Royal City Governance Hall has already sanctioned it, a total of thirty-seven thousand silver coins."

But at this mont, Rod wasn’t very concerned about the money. He stood up, embraced Mina, and said softly,

"You’ve done your best. It’s all in the past now. The culprit is dead, and we’ve returned to Royal City. Isn’t it okay to forget about it and start a new life?"

Mina’s body trembled slightly, and it was then Rod realized how cold she was.

She whispered, "But they all died. Mr. Mo’er is dead, the Dark Leaf instructor and Mr. Bach are dead, and there’s still no trace of Beowood, but he’s likely dead too. Did you know? At that ti, I was actually awake, but I didn’t dare move. Steel Hand and Blackfish, who were always so kind to , died right in front of my eyes, and even their bodies weren’t intact... Rod, I’m so grateful you killed that villain; otherwise, I couldn’t have closed my eyes. But I’m starting to doubt whether this weak , and the Truth I seek, are of any use. Maybe pursuing sheer power is the right way."

Rod gently patted her shoulder and said softly,

"Don’t feel guilty. You are not a combatant; you have no duty to fight. It was my weakness. I could have killed him much earlier. You shouldn’t lose heart; the Truth you seek does hold value. One day it will shine with endless brilliance."

Rod briefly discussed potential future weapons and their principles, envisioning the prospects of their developnt and how they might assist Trolian, emphatically stating that they would certainly help people live better lives.

Before he knew it, Mina’s face was streaming with tears.

Choking up, she said, "Little Rod, I don’t know if what you say is true or false, but my intuition tells it’s true. Thank you for comforting . You must et my ntor when you have the ti."

"Sure."

Suddenly, Mina gently touched Rod’s cheek and ran away.

Rod touched his cheek; it was damp. It must not have been from her hand.

He shook his head, "This girl, so grown up and yet still acting like a little girl."

Although his Spiritual Power Level had gone up, unlike last ti, Rod felt nothing special.

Back at the dorm, as he was considering to whom he should send the secret letter, suddenly, a Spirit Crow flew in from outside the door, bringing a letter with it.

Rod unfolded the letter, which turned out to be from Miss Qingyu.

The gist of the letter was to tell him to stay at the hidden branch and wait for graduation after completing all the training courses; he could then take up a position in her defense area, which she had reserved for him along with many other benefits.

Summarized in one sentence, follow sister and you’ll be under my wing.

Are girls from Trolian all so mature? Thirty-year-old aunties back in my world are considered underage girls, and here you are in your twenties, acting all big sister-like.

Little rascal, sooner or later, you’ll be calling big brother amazing.

Rod put away the letter and suddenly thought of an unfinished letter he had, a thought struck him.

This secret letter, wasn’t it just perfect to send to her?

Qingyu was fully trustworthy and certainly had enough conditions to fully utilize the value of this letter.

Not to ntion, there was no need to worry about her doubting and thoroughly questioning the source of the information.

Rod went for it, picking up the charcoal pencil, adding Qingyu’s na at the top of the letter, thought for a mont, and then added ’sister’ at the end.

He then ca up with a few random reasons below, and after signing his own grand na at the bottom, the letter was finished.

He properly packed the letter and put it into the Spirit Crow’s mailbag.

The Spirit Crow shook its wings, rose up, and flew away.

Good.

Rod watched the silhouette of the Spirit Crow fly out of the gate.

In doing so, yet another bunch of worms had been cleared out.

That disgusting Iron Mask should be finished, right?

With this pleasant dream in mind, Rod went to sleep in the Dream Realm’s rocking chair.

When he awoke the next day, he felt extrely refreshed; all the symptoms he used to have from entering and exiting the Dream Realm and using "Awakening" had completely disappeared.

This rocking chair is really useful, with it and "Frost Blue," I don’t have to worry about recovery anymore.

Rod opened the door, just about to head to the base’s main training field, when a girl with red hair and golden armor grabbed his arm.

"You’re Rod, right?"

Rod recognized her, she was the person who had scored two hundred tis higher than him on one of the initial tests; the instructors addressed her as "The Golden Shining Valkyrie."

"That’s ."

"How fortunate."

The Golden Shining Valkyrie smiled slightly.

"Teacher Chucher wants you to hurry to the special classroom, you’ll be late in ten seconds."

Rod exclaid in surprise, "Isn’t that already late—"

Bang!

The Gale that ca howling at him was so strong that Rod almost thought he was entering the Dream Realm.

When he stopped, he had already arrived in a bright classroom, the red-haired golden-armored Valkyrie sat down next to him, and the room was filled with a variety of students, including one group comprised exclusively of very pretty girls.

Rod glanced over a few tis and realized he seed to have seen them once among the special students.

"That student!"

A very loud and rough voice called out.

"We’re in the middle of a lesson, please refrain from staring at the female students."

A wave of soft laughter arose, and the pretty female students even shifted their gazes over to him.

Rod turned his head and saw an incredibly burly man; he was crisscrossed with a large hamr and a large axe on his back, his whole body stead with a red aura.

He was standing on the podium, his large, bell-like eyes glaring at Rod, and his brown goatee almost seed to be curling up.

Rod hastily sat down.

The burly man knocked on the wall panel, the booming sound made Rod wonder if the wall was about to fall down.

"Now, let Apple Town’s Chucher reveal to you the truth of the world."
