The red-haired girl spoke calmly, "You are now a One Star Hunter, you can only clean the sewers."
Really?
Then why the hell did I bother coming out here?
Rod glared at her, "How much do I need to pay to rise to Two Stars?"
Perhaps it was the tone that sounded a bit harsh, a tall man shouted, "Hey guy, don’t give Ado a hard ti, rules are rules. If you don’t like it, go fight the old man."
Rod glanced at him, and the guy knocked on the table with his cup.
"Iron Wolf Wade sends his regards and wishes you early full stores and a peaceful retirent."
There was no malice; it was probably a common greeting.
Rod forced a smile, took a breath to calm himself, and said to the red-haired girl, "I’m sorry, Miss Ado, how can I return to Two Stars?"
Ado smiled kindly, "No worries, Mr. Dawn Blade, I truly understand how you feel. You need to complete twenty-seven sewer tasks to return to Two Star Hunter."
Twenty-seven tasks.
Rod fell silent for a few seconds.
The man shouted again, "Don’t complain. Since you’ve enjoyed the privileges of a Hunter, you should also undertake the obligations of one. Trolians don’t freeload; others have fought bloodily on the front lines, yet we never saw you there."
Rod ignored him and said to Ado, "Give the tasks, I’ll take them all."
That statent attracted the attention of all the Hunters drinking there, and Rod suddenly felt dozens of gazes on him.
Ado asked in surprise, "Mr. Dawn Blade, you want to take on all the sewer tasks?"
"Yes."
"But if you take them, others won’t be able to, and if you exceed the ti limit and can’t complete them, you’ll be held accountable for maliciously accepting tasks, and even prosecuted."
"Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing. I can complete them."
Ado said incredulously, "But these are thirty-four tasks, and the shortest one only has three days left..."
Rod said sowhat impatiently, "I have special sewer cleaning skills; I can finish these tasks in one night."
"Really?"
Ado still seed sowhat skeptical.
"Are you sure you can complete them? You could start with four or five."
Rod said impatiently, "Do you understand what ’King of the Sewers’ ans?"
"Alright."
Ado swiftly compiled thirty-four task briefings and handed them to Rod.
"I wish you a smooth completion of your tasks, and may the fire accompany you all the way."
Until Rod walked out of the tavern, a faint chuckle circulated within.
Nobody believed this newcor could clear thirty-four sewers in one night.
And Rod had no interest in explaining to them.
The sewers were no different from his own backyard; he was well versed in what kind of monsters could be found where and how to deal with them most efficiently.
The complex sewer routes were not obstacles to him either.
As long as he didn’t go deeper, Rod could soar freely inside.
Twenty-seven or thirty-four made no difference to him.
Since he had decided to go, might as well clean them up all at once.
Although he was reluctant to admit it, Rod was indeed a natural-born sewer cleaner.
Unafraid of ambushes, never lost, he could precisely deal with various monsters that were not strong but very troubleso.
For example, the plague rats that all Combatants deeply detested.
These creatures were nurous, fast, small targets, and carried plague infection; it beca very troubleso once surrounded, and they were commonly dubbed the King Level Monster of the Sewers.
Rod always managed to detect their position in advance, then wrap a Thunder Stone filled with energy in filth and throw it over.
So plague rats would take it as a dung stone back to their nest.
If he was lucky, a single Thunder Stone could clear out an entire plague rat nest.
The plague rats were what Rod killed the most when he was in the sewers.
The most crucial factor was that Rod didn’t have the burden of carrying weight and would never run out of supplies, having exceptionally long endurance.
Moreover, Rod’s financial power had increased by far too much compared to when he first entered the sewers.
At least he had enough True Silver Bullets and Thunder Stones.
Along the way, Rod pushed through like a bulldozer.
He could complete a block’s task in just three to four clock hours, then, as required by the task brief, leave a Hunter Mark and record an image before hurrying to the next block.
Thirty-four tasks from thirty-four blocks, just right for him to clear in one go.
As a man who had morized the entire sewer map, he easily solved the courier problem in the tasks.
Soron’s training also showed trendous effect; Rod’s movents and speed had beco dozens of tis faster than before. For so Ungraded Low Rank monsters, he could kill them with his bare hands.
Even shooting a gun beca a lot faster. He was now close to the speed limit of the Spirit Gun structure, and he even mastered a special skill of loading bullets while shooting.
During intense battles, his gun almost smoked from the rapid fire.
By Noon the next day, Rod returned to the Hunter Branch, handing over the Recording Crystal and the thirty-four task briefings.
"Task completed."
Ado checked everything quickly, her mouth agape with astonishnt.
"Completed, for real?"
"Thirty-four tasks, seven clock hours!"
Ado was so moved that she almost cried, her usual formal expression long gone from her face.
"Oh my god, are you sent by fire to save ? I’m no longer the Hunter Branch chief who can’t even clean a single sewer."
