Now reading: Chapter 212 - 155 Fierce Battle from The Last King Of Darkness, a Eastern novel by Mountains and rivers have no memory.

The trio’s battle was exceptionally intense, with innurable tentacles striking like a sudden, violent storm.

The Green Giant’s massive fra blocked the majority of the attacks, while the Big Worm sliced off swathes of tentacles, and every Wind Spear thrown by Sweet Tea inflicted damage on the monster.

However, in Rod’s eyes, the monster’s soul was very peculiar, like a blur of fog that couldn’t be seen clearly. Waves of Spiritual Energy spread from its depths, becoming more and more apparent, as if it were awakening from a deep slumber.

And as it awakened, its Spiritual Energy grew stronger and stronger.

More tentacles erged from the monster’s body, launching even more ferocious attacks.

Moreover, Rod felt a deep, chilling malice emanating from the monster’s soul, firmly locking onto him as if poised to pounce the mont he tried to escape.

Yet, this malice was not directed at the other three.

What’s going on?

Do I have a grudge against you?

Rod quickly realized there did seem to be a grudge—the top of the Abyssal Demon’s head appeared to have been hit, leaving behind a scorched mark.

Seeing the collapsed cave and the large crater ford by the hills nearby, he suddenly rembered that during the battle against the Mutated Beast, his "Spiritual Power Fifth Layer lody" had pierced directly through the monster, shooting into the ground below.

Could it be that this Abyssal Demon was exactly beneath, in deep slumber, and was hit squarely by his Spiritual Energy cannon?

Was that intense earthquake caused by it?

Was it responsible for collapsing the cave and creating this giant pit?

This conjecture made Rod shudder, and he tried his best to contain his racing thoughts and focus on the present.

The Abyssal Demon was gradually awakening, and if it fully recovered from its dormant state, things would turn bad.

The Iron Wolf was starting to get overwheld. The Big Worm’s claws moved as swiftly as wind but still couldn’t keep up with the increasing number of tentacles.

So tentacles consciously blocked their compound eyes, trying to stop Sweet Tea’s Wind Spears.

This won’t do, I must act quickly.

If they can’t hold on, I might not be able to escape either.

Rod first fired several shots at the monster, and as expected, the Sealing Spirit Bullets couldn’t penetrate the thick tentacles. It was impossible to affect a monster of this strength unless its weak points were hit.

Rod then threw a Thunder Stone, which had so effect. The burst of Thunder Light severed a few tentacles and paralyzed others.

A drop in the bucket.

But that’s alright.

One drop won’t do—what about a hundred?

So long as the defense can be broken, it’ll do.

Rod then used his ultimate move—charging a whole bag of Thunder Stones and tossing them all at once.

The effect was good. The massive Thunder Light illuminated a hundred yards in every direction, with the monster’s large half-body swallowed by thunder, dozens of tentacles blown away, and many more paralyzed, causing the ferocious assault to co to a temporary halt.

The Iron Wolf, not expecting such assistance at this ti, exclaid with joy, "Worthy of being our rising star!" He fiercely grasped two tentacles and tore them off the monster’s body.

Streams of Black Blood mixed with gut fluids spurted out.

The Big Worm’s eyes focused, and its claws violently grabbed at the air, tearing apart sothing as if it were a highly resilient skin.

As it did so, the wound on the monster’s body grew larger.

"Sweet Tea!" Iron Wolf shouted.

"Got it!"

As she responded, a Wind Spear piercing through the air plunged into the wound.

The power unleashed by the air compressed by imasurable force was beyond the imagination of ordinary people—clumps of flesh and blood sprayed out, and a large hole exploded on the monster’s body.

"Good!"

The Big Worm laughed, "We’ve got this!"

But the next instant, Rod saw a dirty Spiritual Light unfold from the monster.

The worms on the ground suddenly grew madly, as if receiving a command, and rapidly crawled towards the monster’s body, rging into its flesh and blood.

The eggs on its body also began to hatch, quickly growing into new tentacles.

In the blink of an eye, the monster had regenerated to its original state, and there were even more tentacles than before.

Iron Wolf knew they were in trouble. He could clearly feel the lack of Spiritual Energy supply, and as soon as the greening ended and the green Giant disappeared, the team would imdiately collapse.

"Big Bug, Sweet Tea."

He called out urgently.

"We launch a fierce attack and then take the opportunity to escape."

Sweet Tea shouted, "Is there no hope of killing it?"

"Basically none, my Spiritual Energy won’t last much longer, and Rod has exhausted his Spiritual Energy. He’s thrown all his Thunder Stones; my thirty years of experience as a seasoned Hunter tells that there’s no chance of killing it..."

Boom!

A loud bang resounded, and an enormous burst of Thunder Light once again illuminated the darkness, with even more Electric Snakes than before covering the sky.

This was two bags of Thunder Stones.

The green Giant’s eyes, larger than fists, bulged out.

Normally, any Combatant would carry at most one grey bag, and Thunder Stones were not kept outside the grey bag. Since Rod had thrown his bag, it was assud, by conventional thinking, that he had thrown all his Thunder Stones in one go.

That’s why he judged that they no longer had a chance of killing it.

But who could have imagined that this brother, known as the King of the Sewers, would take the road less travelled, carrying three grey bags, each stuffed full of Thunder Stones.

"What are you gaping at, shoot now!"

Rod shouted urgently; charging two bags of Thunder Stones was a huge burden, which he couldn’t have done unless his Soul Strength was five to six tis stronger than before.

Iron Wolf snapped back to his senses instantly and grabbed the monster’s tentacle, pulling hard and shouting, "Opportunity!"

He had realized that the monster’s body was a mass of tentacles intertwined together.

The best thod was to inflict as much damage as possible on the tentacles and find the monster’s true body.

Big Bug furiously clawed and tore, fully exhibiting his Soul Trait, and countless tentacles were shredded and severed.

"Hahaha, we’re sure to win, killing an Abnormal Demon. The old man will have to take us seriously."

But in the next instant, Rod saw the Spiritual Energy of the Abyssal Demon boiling over.

Its colossal body blood like a flower, countless tentacles stretching out, revealing a twisted dark shadow in the center.

This was the real body where its soul resided.

No wonder the images he had seen before were so strange; that was all the diffused Spiritual Energy and the derived Soul Bodies.

Rod took two more bags of Thunder Stones out of his sleeve, prepared before he set out. If those were used up, he could still go to the Dream Realm to get more.

But just as he was about to charge them, an extrely thin and long tentacle sprang out from the black shadow’s head, sweeping towards him swiftly.

All three of them shouted in alarm simultaneously, "Watch out!"

Thanks to the recent training, Rod instantly gathered his Spiritual Energy and deployed a Spiritual Defense.

The green Giant put all his strength into raising an arm, blocking the tentacle for a mont, but the long tip still struck Rod.

Crack!

Rod only felt a massive force hit him, his mind as if struck by a Heavy Strike, his body flying through the air as if riding the clouds, landing dozens of yards away.

Agonizing pain ca from his arm, and even worse was the tearing pain in his mind; the defensive Spiritual Energy had been scattered, even though Iron Wolf had helped him block it partially.

If he had been hit head-on, it’s likely he would have been split in two.

Struggling through the intense pain, Rod stood up and looked ahead; the situation was even worse than before.

The three were embroiled in a desperate battle. One hand of the green Giant was broken and could no longer shield Big Bug and Sweet Tea behind him.

Big Bug and Sweet Tea were forced to divert more focus to deal with the tentacles attacking them, greatly weakening their firepower.

And new compound eyes opened on the monster’s true body.

Iron Wolf knew trouble was imminent; they might not make it, but the newcor had to survive. Imdiately, he shouted, "Rod, go call for support! Don’t worry, we’ll try to hold on..."

Before he could finish speaking, Rod had triggered the Spirit Boat and turned to run.

Iron Wolf closed his mouth and resisted the attack with all his might.

Big Bug chuckled, "That Rod reacts so quickly, he’s sure to escape."

But before his words were finished, the monster suddenly shot upward, countless tentacles flicking through the air like seaweed, stirring endless ripples of Spiritual Energy, chasing rapidly after Rod.
