Now reading: Chapter 280 - 200: Sparks of Stars from The Last King Of Darkness, a Eastern novel by Mountains and rivers have no memory.

Wind Fury Cape was a vast canyon.

Under the towering cloud-piercing peaks, countless cracks had ford, with innurable living corpses wandering there.

Completely corrupted, they no longer fed on corpses, but the instinct to hunt warm life was still etched deep into their souls.

This was an extrely dangerous location. Expeditionary forces or hunting squads would always deem it a highly dangerous area, choosing not to pass through unless absolutely necessary.

But for them, it was an essential route.

Detri had prepared for the worst, yet he did not expect Rod’s ability to see through physical matter had reached a depth of thirty yards.

Even through the thick mountains, he could see the souls of the wandering monsters on the other side.

The surge in Spiritual Energy had significantly boosted the strength of the Eye of the Soul; Rod even doubted if the King had intentionally suppressed him saying he felt nothing.

Hmm . . . he rembered to be cautious when dealing with the King in the future; the King was very petty, and he should not offend him.

Under the guidance of such a powerful Eye of the Soul, they smoothly passed through Wind Fury Cape without seeing even a hair of a Soul Devouring Ghost.

Tomman nearly dropped his jaw in surprise, "What exactly are you?"

Detri looked deeply at Rod and answered solemnly, "He is a complete Spiritual Visionary."

Tomman exclaid loudly, "Impossible, I’ve worked with several complete Spiritual Visionaries! None were as abnormal as him!"

Rod smiled, "I told you, with here, the mission will definitely succeed. Let’s move quickly."

Tomman muttered, "You talk as if you’ve saved all of humanity."

Though he was complaining, his tone was much less forceful.

The next location was Sword Bay.

It was a complex area made up of mountain ranges, corrupted forests, and Black Fog, surrounding the ruins of a city, with a diverse composition of monsters, mainly degraded human powerhouses from ancient tis.

This made Sword Bay even more dangerous than Wind Fury Cape.

These forr powerhouses had varied abilities and different fighting styles, which combatants accustod to battling monsters found difficult to adapt to.

But with his powerful Spiritual Vision, Rod again led them safely through this area, even killing a Living Corpse blocking their mandatory path.

This Living Corpse, wearing a decayed black cloak, possessed strong stealth and sensory abilities. Rod only saw it when it was within a hundred yards, almost being detected by it first.

Detri shook the "Silence Bell," creating a Silent Domain that reduced the disturbances caused by combat within a certain range to avoid any spread of the aftermath.

Then, Tomman and Detri attacked it.

Both were very strong in close combat and quickly severely injured the Living Corpse.

Ambushing from behind, Rod seized the mont and rushed up to kill it with one swift move.

[Soul of the Thief King Mites]

Rod, looking at this newly acquired soul, could not help but smile.

This soul was completely different from all other souls he had obtained before the "Quantification" by the Dark Devourer; all his previous souls had been a cluster of fire.

To be precise, they had all been Soul Fire.

But now, this soul was a humanoid mist, similar to what he saw with his Spiritual Vision.

It was quietly sealed within the Crystal Wall of the Soul Altar, as if the monster had not died but instead had entered a Dream Realm.

Was the change due to "Quantification" so significant? Was this what the most complete soul looked like?

Rod was overjoyed and awaited the end of the mission to thoroughly examine what unique uses this "most complete soul" possessed.

Detri shook the "Silence Bell" again, dispelling the Silent Domain.

The entire battle was quick, clean, and efficient. Between the dash and swoop, the Living Corpse had been reduced to ashes, creating very little disturbance. Covered by the Silent Domain, it was practically nonexistent.

Unfortunately, their luck was poor; there were no ashes.

Tomman gave Rod a complex look and muttered, "Sowhat capable."

Rod smiled, "I told you, the mission will definitely succeed."

Tomman spat, "Don’t get smug, the real danger is still ahead."

Detri nodded, "The most dangerous part is after we place the Corrosive Material at the first node. Once the corrupting scent is released, a storm point will form here with monsters surging towards us. We must withstand the Monster Tide and travel the thirty thousand yards to the second node in a short ti to place the next Corrosive Material."

Rod nodded slightly; he could imagine how perilous it would be.

Yet, he still firmly believed he would succeed and would also gain the Light Platform Fragnt that could manipulate the Dream Realm.

Because this was a task arranged by the Dean.

After leaving Sword Bay, the last location was the Eternal Sealed Land.

This was a wilderness covered in strong acid, where a thick black liquid continuously spread across the wasteland. Apart from the acid beasts made of strong acid, there were no other monsters here.

"It is possible to fly here."

Detri said.

"The principle is unknown, we speculate that there might be an Ancient God hidden beneath the wilderness, and both the strong acid and the acid beasts are its derivatives, its presence ensures that no other monsters can exist in this region."

Rod was startled, "There are also Ancient Gods here? Didn’t Royal City say there were no gods?"

Tomman responded sarcastically, "You believe in fairy tales ant for kids?"

Of course, Rod didn’t believe it.

But the view that "gods are more powerful beings" was useful, he just felt a bit worried.

"Will placing the Corrosive Material awaken the Ancient God?"

Detri shook his head slightly, "Unlikely, as dormant Ancient Gods are hard to awaken."

Tomman mocked, "Getting worried now? What happened to that inexplicable confidence of yours?"

Rod didn’t respond but rely said, "I can’t fly, give a hand."

Detri supported Rod’s arm and soared into the air.

Tomman mocked, "You haven’t learned to tread the air? Are you really a High Rank Combatant?"

No one answered, the three of them silently flew forward.

Beneath them stretched the endless dark brown land, with only the dark brown acid beasts wandering upon it.

Rod suddenly asked, "By placing Corrosive Material so far from Trolian, can we change the direction of the Black Tide?"

Tomman coldly said, "You don’t even know what the Black Tide is, do you?"

Rod glanced at him, "Isn’t the Black Tide just the Monster Tide rushing towards us?"

Tomman sneered, "Another fool deceived by fairy tales, how on earth did you mix into this squad? You’re not really as young as you appear to be, only sixteen years old, are you?"

Rod frowned, "What do you an?"

"You think the Black Tide is a catastrophe targeting us? An evil assault by monsters on the enlightened humanity?"

Tomman spread his hands, revealing an icy smile.

"No, curb your arrogance, in this cold Dark World, humanity is but a speck of dust, nothing cares about us, the Black Tide is a throb within the Dark World, a wave caused by so unknown influence."

"It’s irregular, it can occur at any epoch, and what humans can observe is just a small part of it."

"Most of the Black Tides don’t even head towards Trolian, in fact, we have never actually clashed with the true Black Tide."

"What Royal City exhausts itself defending against is rely a small aftermath of the Black Tide, the endless Monster Tide we see is just a minor edge of a greater existence sweeping past us."

"The true Black Tide is boundless, its very forefront exceeds the entire domain of Trolian humanity."

"But such an existence is just a splash in the grand Dark Sea."

"What we fully resist is just a droplet flung from this splash."

"Trolian humanity, with its countless strong, is just an insect nestled in a corner of the Dead Ash Mountain Range."

"The Holy Fire that supports human existence is rely a starfire in an endless night."

Tomman lowered his hands, his voice growing somber.

"So, humanity has no chance of victory, and we will ultimately face destruction, this is the era of darkness, the Fire Epoch has long since vanished."

No one spoke, only the wind howled.

Tomman turned his head, expecting to see a face filled with despair and desolation.

Just like he had felt initially.

However, what t his eyes was a smile.

"An insect, never defeated."

"And a spark, can indeed start a wildfire."
