Now reading: Chapter 286 - 204 Light Platform2 from The Last King Of Darkness, a Eastern novel by Mountains and rivers have no memory.

"No, they just have similar properties, capable of transferring Spiritual Energy or the will of a Soul. But essentially, the formation of spiritual matter and the Soul are sowhat similar."

Rod patted the spine of the book and smiled, "I understand, thank you, Book of Knowledge."

The Book of Knowledge wrote a single word, "Hmph!" and then it closed with a thud.

Rod replaced the Book of Knowledge on the shelf and approached the Light Platform.

He pierced his Soul according to the thod he had just learned and sared his spirituality on the silver sphere.

The silver sphere emitted a foggy glow, and Rod felt a powerful force tugging at his Soul.

Everything went dark before his eyes as if he had fallen into a black hole.

When his vision returned, Rod realized he was shuttling through the boundless sky.

Smoke, thin clouds, and light orbs of various colors flashed rapidly past him.

And beneath the boundless clouds, there was an imnsely large river, stretching across the horizon with no beginning or end in sight; within it surged countless grey mists mixed with a multitude of skeletons, Ghost Spirits, and bodies struggling to erge.

Rod instantly realized that this was the River of Eternal Death! The Ancient God Heragotos lay dormant in the deeps of the River of Death!

He looked around; everything was shrouded in dense fog, and clouds of smoke veiled both the sky and the earth.

This was different from the Spirit Realm he had seen before; there were no chaotic color patches, no heavy bands of colored light—the smoke was so light that he could see far into the distance.

Is this the upper layer of the Spirit Realm?

Rod looked down at himself to find a semi-transparent spherical bubble moving forward; inside the bubble churned chaotic Mists, its color dull and grey as if devoid of all color, yet densely condensed with no visibility into its depth.

Is this a Dream?

Is it just a bubble shuttling through the vast upper reaches of the Spirit Realm?

Rod tried to control it, and sure enough, the bubble changed direction, causing a disturbance in the surrounding smoke and clouds, which rippled outwards.

A massive shadow flickered past in the imasurable depths of the River of Death.

A chill ran through Rod’s heart as if sothing indescribable had set its gaze upon him. Thinking of the nurous anomalies in the Dream, along with the invasion persistent as a malignant tumor, it seed likely that the Dream’s existence was not tolerated by this world.

He quickly reverted the bubble’s direction, thinking to himself, "I must be careful to conceal myself, not cause too much disturbance, to avoid attracting the attention of so unknown entity."

However, the upper layers of the Spirit Realm were boundless, and he felt as though he were floating in the nebulas of space; the river below, like the Milky Way, spanned the stars with no end or shallowness in sight.

All was vague, with no direction to be found.

However, Rod quickly realized that the Dream had originally traveled from the "Abyss of Darkness" to the "River of Eternal Death."

So, by flying back in the sa direction, wouldn’t he be able to leave the "River of Eternal Death"?

But would there be enough ti?

As he hesitated, Rod suddenly noticed a faint trail left behind where the bubble had passed; the further it went, the more the trail expanded.

Um... does this an that the more I fly forward, the more extensive this effect will beco?

Rod decisively turned the bubble around and flew back along the trail.

Then, to his surprise, he found that the bubble’s speed was increasing, gliding as if it were on a smooth track.

In just a mont, it was at least ten tis faster than before.

Rod frowned.

The phenona of the Spirit Realm and the Dream had far exceeded his knowledge system.

I must make ti to check the database at the Great Book Library the Dean ntioned.

Perhaps there will be so help there.

Rod watched the Dream fly for a while and, confirming there were no abnormalities, then retracted back.

Back in his cabin, Rod didn’t feel anything unusual; the Light Platform stopped glowing once he moved his fingers away, but the scene of the bubble’s flight could still be seen on the silver core.

It continued to accelerate even as he left.

In this way, it seed definite that he had enough ti; in a few days, he would leave the "River of Eternal Death" and return to the "Abyss of Darkness."

Rod put his mind at ease for the ti-being; the crisis caused by "Quantification" had finally been averted.

Afterward, he inspected various parts of the Dream.

The Stone Platform now boasts five new items to be crafted: "Flesh Puppet," "Flesh Armor," "Soul Defense," "Kales’ Sa Temperature Cannon," and "Pioneer of Destruction." All of which could beco his trump cards.

The Storage still holds enough supplies, but the consumption of Spirituality is a bit high, so he needed to pay attention to replenishnt.

In the Obelisk shimred six stars. After "Quantification," the "Dark Devourer" had beco the brightest star in the night sky, its dark red light fixed in the very center of the starry expanse, like a giant eye watching him.

Rod couldn’t be sure if it was just his imagination, but he felt its light was gradually getting stronger.

The other three stars had reached the "Eternal Fire" state. If he could find the "Ancient God Ashes," "Divine Blood Gem," and "Spirit Realm Core," the "Frost Blue," "Justice Execution," and "Spirit Boat" could also be "Quantified."

But that wasn’t sothing he could do right now.

Two other stars, "Spirit Elegy" and "Divine Sense," remained in the "Dull Fire" state.

Without "Soul Firewood," they could not be upgraded.

But to make Soul Firewood, he needed Divinity.

Rod frowned slightly and looked again at the thods to obtain Divinity:

"Increase the likelihood of advancing the civilization’s Eternal Fire, holding up civilizations that are sliding into the Dark Abyss."

Hadn’t he lifted human civilization even a little by completing two major tasks in a row?

Rod found it hard to comprehend.

After he killed Gregor and put an end to the trial, he had obtained a trace of Divinity.

Were these two tasks really not comparable to killing Gregor?

Without Divinity, he wouldn’t just be unable to enhance the stars, but he also couldn’t craft important items like the "Resurrection Stone."

Just wait a bit longer.

Rod thought.

Perhaps Divinity would co after the campaign’s end.

Afterward, Rod looked over the Evil Ghost Stone Tank, Soul Altar, Evil Ghost Egg, and the statue of Theodore. There were no significant changes.

The only regret was that his soul harvest wasn’t much this ti. The Dean’s phantom didn’t seem to count as his possession, and the monsters it killed were unrelated to him.

Besides a bit of Soul Fragnts, there was only one "Soul of Thief King Mites."

Rod went back to ask the Book of Knowledge.

The book was now much more compliant. It told him that besides devouring and sacrificing, the most complete soul could also be burned.

"Burning" would destroy the soul, enabling him to gain one ability it was most adept at, lasting for a star cycle, which is seven days.

A thought struck Rod, wasn’t theft the skill the Thief King was best at?

Indeed, this function could be very useful. He would consider it in the future.

Rod sacrificed all the fragnts and fed the soul into the stars, glancing at the numbers on the Obelisk:

Soul Strength: 15515

Soul Stars: 6

Humanity: 55611

Divinity: 6

Souls Without Spirit: 0

He felt a mix of satisfaction and concern in his heart.

He took a long breath, feeling quite enriched by this experience, having touched the essence of the Dream Realm, avoided the threat of the Ancient Gods’ invasion, and successfully reford the Book of Knowledge.

The only problem was, he sorely lacked Divinity, leaving him without a trump card.

Keep striving.

My future is surely bright.

With a faint smile, Rod returned to the rocking chair and entered a dreamless, sweet sleep, keeping the last sentence to himself.

The journey ahead would also be smooth.
