Now reading: Chapter 444 - 293 Explosion2 from The Last King Of Darkness, a Eastern novel by Mountains and rivers have no memory.

Horus looked into his eyes, his expression serious.

"Never let personal desires and emotions interfere with matters related to combat, a qualified combatant needs to consider how to achieve victory."

Rod knew the Archbishop had misunderstood, and he said earnestly, "You can investigate all the battles, Molly, phit, and Anna have been very useful to , they can enhance my abilities to produce stronger effects."

Horus nodded.

"I’m just reminding you, after all, you’re too young and inexperienced, suddenly in a high position with great power, I fear you might not see the reality and stray from the right path."

Rod replied solemnly, "Your Excellency Archbishop, rest assured, I may look young on the outside, but inside I am already a mature and reliable man."

Horus smiled and said, "That’s great, beco a Third Level combatant as soon as possible, we are really in need of High Rank combatants."

"I will."

"Also, don’t give Anna any more Soul Potions."

Rod asked, puzzled, "Why not?"

"I can’t tell you that, just don’t give them to her."

Rod felt curious but didn’t ask any further, guessing that maybe these Potions weren’t suitable for her and she couldn’t have too many.

Horus continued, "Becoming a standard-bearer is a matter for the future, but we must start considering it now. So fatal stains are absolutely unacceptable, such as slaughtering or framing companions, which is the biggest taboo in Trolian, even just being suspected of this can make you a target of exclusion."

Rod frowned and asked, "Are you calling those people companions?"

Horus replied gravely, "At least on the surface they are, they have all sorts of honorable explanations for their actions, the real dangerous acts have been obliterated of evidence, but according to our investigations, this involves at least a few hundred people, including several Elders."

Rod suddenly felt the space before him shake, a countless number of afterimages flooding his vision, and it took several seconds before he realized the epicenter of the phenonon was emanating from the King.

Rod instinctively activated the Eye of the Soul and saw fluctuations in the King’s Soul, that particular waveform represented anger.

Rod knew that a person’s soul fluctuates with emotions, but to see spatial phenona just because of the movent of a soul was his first encounter.

The phenonon ca quickly and disappeared just as fast, the King’s Soul cald down, and he said lightly.

"These people have completely fallen, their souls see nothing but their own interests, they hide in the shadows, posing a far greater threat to us than even stronger monsters, in the war against the Fallen Royal City, we absolutely cannot tolerate these pests in our ranks."

Archbishop Horus took over the conversation:

"Although they are currently lying low, seemingly harmless and utterly loyal, the very survival of Trolian is at stake, we cannot afford any mistakes. If it weren’t for this opportunity with you, we would have resorted to thunderous ans to eliminate them, but since you’re here, we can minimize losses as much as possible."

Rod, with a solemn expression, asked in a deep voice, "What should I do now?"

The Archbishop said, "Do you rember your duty as the King’s Hand?"

Rod nodded.

"We will appoint you as the Captain of the King’s Hand and as a Judger in the Internal Affairs Court. Then, we will fabricate an explosion attack on the Royal Palace, the most severe event, as the Captain of the King’s Hand you will qualify for the highest investigation authority."

Rod spoke seriously, "I understand, don’t worry, everyone on that list will be a Doomsday believer who attacked the Royal Palace and attempted to assassinate the King."

Horus couldn’t help but chuckle, "What are you thinking? We are granting you the power to search and investigate anyone, you have the right to use any ans to investigate the people on the list, catch their weaknesses, and bring them to justice, not to fra and retaliate for revenge."

Rod was very disappointed.

You are not ruthless at all, the capable should not get caught up in the details, being rciful to an enemy at this ti is cruelty to oneself.

He agreed outwardly, but in his heart, he had already decided that he would kill all those maggots, even if there was no evidence, so they wouldn’t co back to bother him.

For Rod, the most disgusting thing in this world is to be fighting bloody battles at the front, only to have soone stab you in the back.

What’s worse is that among those you strive to protect, there is a part for them.

They live pleasantly and eat your blood-soaked stead buns while you lie on the cold ground, watching your own blood flood your vision, this is a great tragedy of the human world.

Rod was not such a magnanimous person, he was very petty, and he would not allow this to happen.

All these guys have to be killed.

The conversation ended quickly, and afterwards, the King held a grand assembly in his Royal Palace.

Many important figures from the Royal City attended, and the King’s Guard was present in full force.

The King announced Rod’s rit at the assembly and promoted him to the position of Captain of the King’s Hand.

No one had any objections, and every mber of the King’s Guard cheered for the birth of the new Captain.

Lucian, the Chief of the Internal Affairs Court, also attended the assembly.

He casually announced the promotion of Rod’s position from investigator to Judger.

This appointnt did not stir any ripples. Rod had been associated with the Internal Affairs Court for a long ti, and the position of Judger wasn’t considered high ranking.

And so, the first part of the plan was completed, now they just awaited the "attack" by the Doomsday believers on the Royal Palace.
