Royal City.
White Tower.
Star Hall.
redith sat on the Star Chart, behind him the spherical star chart incessantly rotated.
Strange Spiritual Energy oscillated around him like ripples in water, now hidden, now apparent.
Suddenly, an apprentice rushed in hastily.
"Teacher, the Spirit Realm space pressure gauge shows that an unknown entity has breached the positional barrier from the Outer Spirit Realm and plumted into the Inner Spirit Realm, manifesting in the Material World!"
redith opened his eyes, and Spiritual Energy guided his gaze, crossing infinite space to look into the distance.
"In Star Town."
redith said, his voice echoing with strong Spiritual Energy, sounding sowhat distorted.
"It’s a withered beast."
Having said that, he closed his eyes again, and the ripples of Spiritual Energy enveloped him once more.
The apprentice didn’t dare to disturb his teacher further and bowed before stepping out.
Outside the door, two other apprentices asked, "Ko, what is the invading monster?"
"A withered beast."
Surprise showed on the apprentices’ faces.
"A withered beast? Isn’t it a territorial monster? It only wanders near its lair. Why would it risk harm to breach the positional barrier and co to the Main Material Plane?"
"I don’t know, the teacher said it, it must be correct."
One apprentice asked, "Should we notify the Fire Hall?"
The apprentice hesitated before replying, "No need, I guess. The Fire Hall is very busy now; all combat sequences have been activated. The place where the withered beast invaded is Star Town. The town has complete defense facilities, excellent defensive conditions, and abundant combat power. Rod just arrived in Star Town recently. The withered beast is only a Strong Monster of Middle Rank. It’s no threat to them."
After discussing for a while, the apprentices agreed that there would be no problem and dispersed.
——
——
Outside Star Town.
The blood-red shadow grew denser, and fluctuations in Spiritual Energy erged as a powerful being was crossing the chasm between the Spirit Realm and the Material World.
"Ah, what a powerful force,"
the voice in the Void said.
"Catastrophes always fall upon us unnoticed. Star Town, bathed in firelight, is unaware of it all. The White Tower has overlooked its power, and redith is busy observing more important targets, not having the ti to look closely at this seemingly insignificant withered beast—otherwise, he would have noticed that it is not the sa as other withered beasts."
"It possesses a fragnt of Source power, though only acquired through Source Material, which has made it the Withered Lord of the Outer Spirit Realm."
"The careless apprentice forgot to pass on this information, and so, Star Town will face its threat alone."
The fluctuations of Spiritual Energy grew ever stronger; Black Fog converged madly into the shadow like a brewing storm.
The voice in the Void deepened.
"Death, destined to occur, is coming, and the withering of souls is a problem that not even resurrection can solve. Devouring is the innate instinct of monsters, and the Withered Lord found its opportunity to beco King. Therefore, it left its lair, crossed the barriers of position and the rifts in space, and it is understandable that it has co to this distant Main Material World."
Boom.
A huge monster fell from the sky.
It was over thirty yards tall, its whole body covered with blood-red flesh strips, with an enormous head beyond asure. Its body was hunched, arms extrely long, dragging on the ground, while its legs were buried within the blood-red flesh strips, appearing like countless insect legs.
Powerful waves of Spiritual Energy surged toward Star Town like a storm.
"Fate is always so wonderful. Let the hope of humankind start to extinguish from here,"
the voice in the Void gradually faded until it disappeared completely.
After wandering in the Black Fog for a mont, the Withered Lord quickly noticed the large expanse of loathso firelight in the distance.
——
In Star Town.
Rod was arguing with Molly about the recruitnt issues of the Black Battle Group.
Rod believed that he was the group leader and he should be allowed to add whoever he wanted.
But Molly insisted that every mber of the Black Battle Group needed to go through rigorous trials, and she wouldn’t allow Rod to add mbers at will.
At that mont, an orderly suddenly burst in, shouting:
"Alert! The Spiritual Energy Watchtower has detected an Eleventh Level Spiritual Power Wave! A Strong Monster has appeared nearby!"
"What did you say?"
Rod leaped forward.
"Where is the Strong Monster?"
Molly followed closely behind, her expression tense.
"How could a Strong Monster suddenly appear nearby? What are our observation outposts doing?"
The orderly replied, "All observation outposts are functioning normally; they haven’t spotted any traces of a powerful monster. It appeared suddenly!"
Molly’s expression imdiately darkened. Having worked in the Military War Departnt for many years, she had a deep mory of such phenona—
Whenever it occurred, the Military War Departnt would be thrown into chaos, everyone would be on high alert, the Defense Chiefs would quickly relay the ssage up the chain, and they would organize a swift evacuation and work to prevent disaster from spreading.
This was an invasion from the Spirit Realm.
Monsters capable of actively crossing over space were extrely dangerous, and the higher the level of the Spirit Realm they ca from, the stronger they usually were.
Because the Main Material World was within the Inner Spirit Realm.
And between the Inner Spirit Realm, the Outer Spirit Realm, and the High Spirit Realm, there were huge barriers of position and spatial rifts.
Crossing them was a very difficult thing to do, and without breaking through the critical point, the Spiritual Energy would suffer trendous damage.
Without special circumstances, monsters typically would not do such a thing.
It was for this reason that invasions of Spirit Realm Monsters were one of the four most urgent alarms of the Military War Departnt.
And the usual response to their threat ca from the Fire Hall.
But not always.
Molly grew anxious; the Fire Hall would usually receive the news earlier, and up to now, Star Town had not received any notification, which ant the Fire Hall was not going to handle this matter.
But what was strange was that Star Town also hadn’t received any pre-warnings. The observers at the White Tower should have detected the aberrations in the Spirit Realm early on, and even if they deed the situation not severe enough to deploy High Rank Combatants, they would have notified the targeted area in advance to prepare.
Yet until Star Town detected the monster’s Spiritual Energy fluctuations, they had received no warning.
Molly’s intuition told her this was wrong.
She wanted to enter ergency mode, to buy ti with the town’s well-fortified defenses and report up to clarify the situation, when Rod suddenly burst into laughter.
"Good, this is so good!"
"I finally get to hunt monsters again!"
Rod’s whole body was boiling with excitent as he pointed to the orderly and said:
"Summon my Black Battle Group!"
"Star Town is to take no action, continue with the music!"
Rod turned and strode out.
"Molly, warm a cup of Mushroom Wine."
Before the words were even finished, Rod’s figure had already disappeared.
Leaving only Molly standing in the room, her beautiful eyes filled with confusion.
"Can Mushroom Wine even be heated?"
