Rod frowned and said, "What are you talking about? When did you ever speak of ti? Besides, I’ve never made contact with Cilly; I didn’t even know her before I arrived at the Fire Hall."
As soon as he finished speaking, Lannis jumped in through the window, hugging Rod tightly.
"Brother, it seems you are really alright. I was extrely worried when that eerie spirit entered your soul."
Cilly too had a face full of joy, repeatedly patting her chest, "That’s wonderful, truly wonderful!"
Rod felt a sweep of Spiritual Energy over his body, knowing that Lannis still harbored concerns, he released his own Spiritual Energy, allowing him to inspect.
The Spiritual Energy passed over his soul and found nothing unusual. Lannis imdiately let go of him, his eyes looking as if he was beholding a rare treasure.
"Did you really digest it? Was it... the Black Fog?"
Rod reluctantly nodded, confirming that the Black Fog indeed absorbed the Spirit, but strictly speaking, it was vanquished by the Dream Realm.
The existence of the Dream Realm was exceptionally unique, seeming to have reached so miraculous state of coexistence with his soul. To this point, any inspection had failed to detect anything abnormal.
But whether intended or not, no monsters had ever invaded his soul, save for one attempt in Star Town by a Strong Monster. For so unknown reason, it had given up at the last mont.
At the ti, it was unclear, but now it seed likely that the monster’s instincts recognized the great danger of invading the soul.
That made it obvious that the strange spirit was manipulated by soone.
Only a human would commit such a foolish act of delivering themselves to the doorstep.
Just as Rod was about to say sothing, Lannis quickly said, "Quick, Cilly, fire another signal flare to indicate the highest level of crisis has been resolved!"
Cilly imdiately snapped back to reality and pulled out another signal flare, channeling Spiritual Energy into it.
The flare shot into the sky, bursting into a cluster of white light.
At this ti, the red light representing a major crisis had yet to fall.
Cilly finally began to relax a little and rembered what Lannis had said, becoming instantly enraged.
"Big liar! How dare you, could you be more shaless? You boasted about an hour but gave up in seconds? It’s a good thing you’re not Rod!"
Lannis coughed, "Sorry, I was too nervous the first ti. It won’t happen next ti."
"Ptui! You think there will be a next ti?"
Just as Lannis was about to say sothing, his collar started heating up, the fla mark flaring to life.
He pressed down on the mark imdiately, and a projection of Spiritual Energy appeared before him.
It was Guardian Qiuqie’er.
"What are you doing?"
The projection admonished.
"Are you playing around with signal flares? Do you know how precious they are? Moon Stone has been out of stock for ten months! And this hall’s Instant Spiritual Communication is as costly as using a Fla Burning Potion each ti!"
Lannis quickly bowed in apology, "I’m sorry, teacher. It’s my fault."
"What the hell happened? Why did you send for help twice in such a short ti, and imdiately after, send a signal that the crisis is averted?"
Lannis briefly recounted the events.
The projection turned its head and, indeed, spotted Rod and Cilly standing aside.
"So you say, a Doomsday believer attempted to attack Rod? After you discovered and killed him, another Curse Spirit flew into Rod’s soul but was dissolved by his Black Fog?"
"Yes, Guardian Qiuqie’er, I’ve checked already. Rod’s soul is intact, with no sign of alteration, darkening, or Pollution."
The projection fell silent.
Although it was only an image generated by Spiritual Energy facing him head-on, with nothing else visible, one could see his facial muscles continuously shifting and the rise and fall of Spiritual Energy, as if engaged in an intense battle.
"Alright, if you’ve checked, there should be no major mistake, but just to be safe, I’ll notify a specialist to conduct a more thorough inspection at your Lighthouse, to avoid any potential hidden dangers."
He paused for a mont, then continued.
"I will inform the Royal City about this matter. The Cult has to conduct a thorough investigation, especially since a Doomsday believer managed to infiltrate... Additionally, fire another signal flare to dissolve the crisis to avoid any misunderstanding."
"Yes, Teacher."
Cilly sent up another white signal flare, its bright light illuminating the sky and brightening the projected face.
Qiuqie’er’s tone softened.
"Not bad... it hasn’t caused any chaos. The situation everywhere is not good right now; we can’t afford any more disturbances."
"Teacher, when can the legion arrive?"
"It will take so ti. The location of the Trident River is too remote; gathering the large army is very difficult..."
Suddenly, the picture underwent huge shaking, and the interference with Spiritual Energy beca incredibly severe.
It wasn’t until dozens of seconds later that the picture returned to normal.
But several huge wounds had appeared on Qiuqie’er’s face, and black essence frantically burrowed into the wounds.
Qiuqie’er opened his mouth and ate sothing, and only then did the black essence gradually disperse.
"The Big King Ant is really troubleso."
He complained and turned his head, saying,
"Little fellows, you’ve been guarding Lighthouse No. 20 for the past few days. The intense battle seems to have woken up the ghosts in the river too. Don’t let them interfere with the battlefield on the west side; it’s already very dangerous there."
Lannis asked calmly, "Teacher, is the situation very bad? Have we located the Ant Queen?"
Qiuqie’er exceptionally sighed.
"No, the Ant Queen’s Spiritual Energy is too strong; all our detection is ineffective against it. We can’t make any progress in the Underworld. Entrances near the Trident River are still producing a steady stream of Demonized Ants. White Tower has observed the Black Fog over the entire region converging here. Clearly, if we cannot kill the Ant Queen, we will never be able to completely eradicate these crawling pests."
He paused for a mont, then continued,
"But, little fellows, you’ve all done quite well. We’ve temporarily stabilized the situation, but I don’t know how long we can hold..."
"Alright, the ti for this communication is almost up. That’s all for now. If you have any questions, go find Commander Tyrion. Don’t use the Spirit Crow ssenger to find ; in such dark depths, it would get lost."
There was a snap, and the Spiritual Energy communication cut out.
Lannis put down his hand, and the fla mark returned to its original state.
Rod looked at him curiously and asked, "Can we contact Teacher Qiuqie’er like this?"
"No, this is a privilege for First Level Combatants. Only the triple fla symbol has such ability. It’s also very expensive to use, and we generally don’t unless necessary."
Cilly pouted and said, "You’re stating the obvious, do you think Rod doesn’t know?"
I really didn’t know... Rod thought carefully about what Lannis had just said and suddenly thought of sothing, asking,
"You an, after you killed the attacker, that spirit just floated out?"
"Right."
"It’s a creation of the Book of Destiny?"
"Based on our conjecture, yes, it is. The Great Sect Leader of the Polluter Sect has influenced many through the Book of Destiny. He has beco a major source of Pollution in Royal City, a huge instability factor. The Internal Affairs Court is urgently searching for him, but he’s hidden too well; we haven’t had much success."
Rod fell silent.
If the Twisted Spirit is a creation of the Book of Destiny, does that an that the essence of the Book of Destiny is the soul of the Ancient God of Destiny?
A divine being, turned into a book?
He rembered that redith, the Master of White Tower, told him that the Ancient God of Destiny and the God of Rebirth of Flesh and Blood were rather special Ancient Gods; they disappeared for so unknown reason.
And they were searching for the Ancient God of Destiny.
At the ti, redith told him that he had the aura of the Ancient God of Destiny and that once the ritual was ready, to return and cooperate with them to perform the ritual and find the whereabouts of the Ancient God of Destiny.
But if his conjecture is true, then there’s no need for that. The Ancient God of Destiny was made into a book and was utterly dead, offering no help to Trolian.
Even if they went to look for Him, it would be like searching in a sewer.
Of course, Rod wasn’t certain that his deduction was true.
