The crisis at Storm Castle was perfectly resolved, and the region’s color changed from deep red to light red on the map.
This ant that it was no longer in a state of disaster.
The Defense Chiefs of the Military War Departnt breathed a sigh of relief, as Storm Castle guarded the southwestern gateway to the Trolian Kingdom. If this place fell, the southwestern gateway would be wide open, allowing the darkness to enter unabated. Not only would this interfere with the supply lines, but the heartland of the Red Soil Plain would also be under threat.
After the dark phenonon was eradicated, the number of Horror Demons and giant Horror Demons born from the Black Forest greatly decreased, and the repair work on Storm Castle’s spiritual power cannons and main guns faced no further hindrance, quickly reaching completion.
Successive waves of reinforcents could finally return to the Royal City, increasing the forces that the Royal City could muster.
The campaign thereby ca to an end, the only puzzling aspect being that, based on the comparisons made after the dark phenonon was eliminated, the contaminated demi divine artifact had been in the Black Forest for quite so ti. Yet, it was unclear why it suddenly exhibited abnormalities at this ti, driving soulless Horror Demons to madly attack the castle.
After several fruitless investigations, it was roughly assud that the intense battles in the west had awakened the "contaminated Scales of the Stars," which had been in a dormant state, causing it to beco increasingly active and go berserk.
Additionally, the investigation team uncovered a large number of remains from the Starry Knight Order, dating back a thousand five hundred years, totaling about a thousand. The remains ranged from ordinary Starry Knights to the most powerful "Children of the Stars" knights.
Most of the bodies were intact, with no significant damage from battle, leaving the reason behind the powerful Starry Knight Order’s downfall a mystery.
The mummies were severely eroded by the black fog, but it seed that so strange mysterious force was preventing them from turning into monsters.
This mysterious phenonon attracted the attention of the Royal City Association, which dispatched a host of scholars and researchers to Storm Castle to try to uncover this secret.
Unfortunately, they were not successful, and instructions soon arrived from the Royal City—the White Tower considered these bodies to be very dangerous, potentially transforming into living corpses at any mont. In this critical period, to avoid any accidents, these bodies had to be destroyed by fire.
The scholars and researchers lanted, believing that if they had just two to three more days, they might have found a new force capable of suppressing the black fog.
——
Rod was unaware of the subsequent events, as he had returned to the Fire Hall with Ando and others as soon as the battle ended.
This ti, Rod saw more Hall Warriors than before, rather than just Hall Envoys and logistics personnel.
They gathered in the outer hall or fireplace area, chatting and laughing; the lively scene also affected Rod, lightening his mood.
It seems our situation is improving.
Rod thought.
Upon returning, the group received a very grand welco. Hall Envoys lined up in front of the gate, bowing to them, their clear voices echoing throughout Storm Castle.
"King Candidate Xingge, First Elder Ando, Great Sword Tai Luo, black glutton Rod, victorious over the black fog and Nightmare, return in triumph!"
"Humanity will not perish, flas will not extinguish, dawn shall co!"
"Dawn shall co!"
Then, the grand sound of trumpets drowned out all else, continuing for at least a quarter of an hour before stopping.
The ceremony attracted nurous spectators. Xingge, sowhat shy, hid behind Tai Luo and Rod.
Ando led the way at the forefront.
Tai Luo followed closely, clearly accustod to this, walking forward with his head held high, waving to the crowd and eliciting a torrent of screams and cheers.
To Rod’s surprise, Ando stood with them, accepting the rewards of the Fire Hall.
He received one hundred thousand silver coins, two hundred rare spiritual potions, and twenty-five Hall badges.
Rod’s rewards were twice as much; when fifty Hall badges fell into his hands, he realized he could get a new piece of equipnt.
But, as the elder’s hand covered his, he realized it was not the end.
"This is for you," Ando said faintly, coughing.
Rod hesitated for a mont, "Is this alright?"
Ando spoke calmly, "Private items can be gifted. These are of no use to anymore. Giving them to a more promising youngster is the best choice."
Rod asked softly, "Then why not just allocate them directly?"
"We can favor more talented warriors with more resources, but the distribution of rewards must be fair."
Rod’s mind cleared, grasping Ando’s intent.
"I understand."
"Take it."
Rod pretended to be polite, "I really shouldn’t..."
"Oh, you don’t want it?" Ando went to take back the Hall badges, only to find Rod gripped them tightly.
"Hahaha, just a joke, I’ll take it, I’ll take..."
Ando withdrew his hand, speaking faintly, "Kid, if you need any help in the future, just contact directly, and I will help you as much as I can."
Before Rod could respond, Ando’s figure turned into a gust of wind and vanished.
Tai Luo patted Rod on the shoulder from behind, laughing, "Brother Rod, I am truly envious, I never got this treatnt."
Rod turned around, but all he saw was a flash of white light flying past.
"It was a pleasure working with you, I hope we can fight side by side again, farewell."
Rod stood there stunned for a while before realizing soone was tugging at his clothes and looked down to see it was Xingge.
