Rod sighed and could only keep his questions in his heart as he continued to move forward.
Soon, they reached the center of the castle along an opening.
It was a huge pit, as if a teor had pierced through the ground and smashed into the depths below.
Looking down, Rod saw only darkness below, bottomless and seemingly a rift leading straight to the Abyss.
Jon asked, "Can you see anything?"
Rod shook his head, "So powerful barrier is blocking my Spiritual Vision, and I feel like the space below isn’t normal."
Jon took a white Sealing rune out from his bosom, closed his eyes, and held it against his chest.
The rune emitted a white light and began to rotate like a dancing note.
After a few seconds, the note pointed straight downward.
Jon opened his eyes, put the white rune back into his bosom, and said sternly, "redith’s Sealing has sensed it. The Seal of the Starry Kingdom is below us, let’s go down directly."
Misole’s delicate face looked hesitant as she asked in a soft voice, "Are we just going down like this?"
Jon nodded, "Yes."
"But..."
"There is no but." Hall interrupted her ruthlessly, his voice hoarse as he said, "Darkness isn’t scary; what brings fear is the ntal unknown. You’re afraid because you can’t see, but maybe there’s nothing below. We might find the Seal as soon as we get close, complete the mission, and return to our station smoothly. Many things are not as complicated as imagined."
Jon, with a stern face, said, "We have no choice, we lack further scouting ans and can’t afford delays, I’ll go first."
After saying that, Jon leapt down into the darkness.
Lily closed her eyes, sensed for a mont, then said joyfully, "Jon is fine, let’s go down."
She stepped forward, murmured, "Lord Theodore, protect ," and lightly jumped down.
Hall followed suit by jumping down, with Rod right behind him, and Misole also had no choice but to follow.
The mont Rod crossed the threshold of the hole, he felt as if he had entered another space; a chilling sensation abruptly intensified on his spine, and the cold seed to pierce through his chest straight to his soul. The lantern at his waist puffed out, and Black Fog rushed towards him, leaving only the sight of reddish silhouettes.
With a thud, Rod landed and looked up. Seeing Jon and the others nearby, he imdiately sighed in relief and then took the opportunity to survey the surroundings.
This seed to be a man-made basent, surrounded by brick and stone, rather than weathered corpses.
There was a hint of joy in Jon’s voice, "These are bricks forged by Star Power, definitely constructed by the Starry Kingdom. This must be the place where the Soul Devouring King is sealed. We just need to find the main hall."
He had much experience exploring relics and knew not to rely on brute force. He quickly followed the traces and found the doorway.
"Here."
Jon stretched out his hand, and as soon as he touched the door, he retracted it.
"Corrosion, curse, pollution—the power of the Soul Devouring King has desecrated the Sealing; the door is also part of the Seal. We must find the main Seal quickly... Rod, it’s up to you now."
Rod stepped forward, examining the decayed door before him, which was entirely made of brick and stone, hardly recognizable as a door at a glance.
"What should I do?"
"Put your hand on it, try to communicate with it through Spirit, and push it open," Jon said. "It’s the safest thod, but the process will generate imnse pollution and erosion, so be careful."
Rod nodded, placed his hand on the door, and in an instant, his Humanity began to plumt wildly, and his mind was filled with nurous chaotic thoughts and murmurs. Without hesitation, he consud a Flower of Humanity.
In the next mont, the world beca tranquil.
Rod closed his eyes, opened his Soul, and tried to communicate with the door through Spirit. More pollution and decay poured towards him, but under the protective effect of the Flower of Humanity, Rod remained unaffected.
Crack!
With a soft noise, the door suddenly fell apart; the bricks and stones collapsed noisily, and black fluffy debris scattered on the ground.
Jon stepped through the doorway first and said, "Let’s go."
Lily ca to Rod’s side and asked with concern, "Are you alright?"
Rod raised both hands, smiling, "I’m fine."
Lily imdiately smiled, "That’s great. It must be the blessing of Lord Theodore."
Rod, worried, just smiled back and did not respond.
Outside the room was a long corridor winding downwards, the chilling feel intensifying with every step.
Jon said, "We are getting close to the main Seal."
The chill in Rod’s heart deepened, and he remained on high alert, but the Eye of the Soul could not see far. The peculiar Star bricks blocked his vision. The only consolation was that he could still connect with the Dream Realm at will.
At the end of the corridor was an ancient cathedral, unhard, where one could faintly see the insignia of the Starry Kingdom.
Jon said, "This is the Starry Cathedral. Any major construction of the Star features a Great Cathedral. According to their customs, we should soon reach the main hall of this underground complex, perhaps we will complete the mission soon."
But in the next instant, Rod shouted urgently, "Above!"
Boom!
A massive black object fell.
Jon reacted swiftly, imdiately rang the Silence Bell, and completed Spiritualization, but the monster moved faster, launching two black tentacles lightning-fast towards the seemingly most frail mber of the team, Misole.
