"Master, Master!"
The Book of Knowledge shouted in his mind.
"I sensed it, that disgusting creature’s scent, the one that interfered with during the invasion!"
Rod asked in surprise, "Book, you have this function too?"
This remark displeased the Book of Knowledge greatly. It fluttered its pages discontentedly and wrote, "It affected , which ans I affected it too! As long as the distance is close enough, I can sll them! My abilities and functions are nurous! Master, you just don’t know them yet! I’m not a re tool, my soul transcends your imagination!"
Rod countered, "Then how were you still affected by it?"
The Book of Knowledge grew even angrier, "I was careless at the ti, didn’t dodge, and got disturbed accidentally..."
Rod twitched his mouth but did not reply.
"Master!" the Book of Knowledge called again, "He’s moving, he’s trying to escape, hurry up and catch him!"
A heaviness filled Rod’s heart, knowing it would be troubleso if the Doomsday believer managed to escape deeper.
According to Lucian and others, the suspected unknown space of the Abyss lay less than a thousand yards below.
"ssenger." He turned his head and asked, "Where are Lucian and Iyeta’s teams now?"
The ssenger activated the Spiritual Energy communicator, and after a mont, got a reply.
"Captain, they are in the middle layer of the sewer."
Rod frowned and said, "Isn’t that too slow?"
The ssenger did not speak, and the faces of the crewmbers all turned blue, everyone wanted to say it wasn’t them being slow, we were too fast.
Rod glanced at the narrow, gloomy space below and decided to set out first to intercept the Doomsday believer.
"ssenger, tell Lucian and Lady Iyeta that I’ve detected enemy activity, we will move out first."
The ssenger was montarily stunned.
"Captain, is that appropriate? Our plan was not like this."
Rod said sternly, "The situation has changed, we must absolutely not let the Doomsday believer escape this ti, with leading the way, don’t worry, just keep in touch with them."
The ssenger hesitated for only a few seconds before deciding to follow Rod’s command, considering he was a Second Level Combatant, the pillar of Trolian, and moreover, his abilities had won them over all along the way.
The ssenger quickly called the two teams, conveying Rod’s decision to move out first. Within seconds, he received an affirmative response and then issued orders.
"Commands change! Deploy imdiately!"
The team mbers imdiately stood up and followed Rod, advancing deeper into the underground.
The path that started was still the normal sewer, just appearing ancient. After they jumped down a large hole, everything changed, the surroundings were no longer man-made stone environnts, but natural rock caves.
An intolerable ancient stench flowed through the air, sending a chill creeping up from their feet.
Rod vaguely felt an ominous aura, as if the Abyss were stirring.
At this location, the Royal City no longer had accurate maps, the map in Rod’s hand was fragnted and quite vague.
However, guided by the Book of Knowledge in his mind, which could sense the direction and proximity of the Doomsday believer, Rod led the team in rapid pursuit. His powerful Spiritual Vision allowed him to accurately spot monsters hidden in the darkness; most were circumvented, and the few encounters were quickly taken down during the assault.
The distance quickly shortened, and Rod’s blood began to boil, planning to settle all old and new grievances here in one go.
Suddenly the Book of Knowledge shouted, "Master, right there, just around that corner!"
"Good!"
Rod’s Spiritual Energy surged throughout his body.
"Everyone, prepare for battle!"
A powerful wave of Spiritual Power spread out as Rod held a sword in his right hand and the Star Light Shield in his left, stepping swiftly past.
The Judgers closely followed behind.
But, as they rounded the thick rocks, Rod’s Spiritual Vision detected nothing at all.
In front of them was a vast cavernous space with a semicircular rocky ceiling covering them like a cap, with nothing around but heavy darkness.
"Where is he?" The Book of Knowledge and Rod both expressed their questions.
The next instant, Rod realized he had been tricked, the Book of Knowledge definitely had been misled by sothing.
"Don’t co any closer!" he urgently shouted.
But it was already too late, the elite Judgers had followed in Rod’s footsteps straight into the trap.
Indeed, the next mont, the surrounding space instantly turned pitch black, like an iron cover sealing them inside.
Only then did the Book of Knowledge realize, "What, I was deceived?"
Rod couldn’t be bothered to bla it, acknowledging his own carelessness for not doubting this unreliable book’s possibility of being unreliable. Its soul was fragnted, akin to being half-brained – isn’t that brain-damaged? And isn’t it quite normal to be played by soone if you’re brain-damaged?
Blindly trusting a brain-damaged, who else could be blad but himself?
"Everyone, don’t move."
Rod shouted, carefully observing his surroundings.
Under the Eye of the Soul, no flow of Spiritual Energy would go unnoticed, and without Spiritual Energy, there could be no danger.
In this enclosed space, although he couldn’t see any Spiritual Energy, neither could he perceive outside.
They were as though isolated by the darkness.
The Book of Knowledge raged like thunder in his mind, cursing the Doomsday believer.
Nothing was more humiliating than being used and deceived for sothing priding itself on knowledge and wisdom like the Book of Knowledge, feeling its vulnerable soul pierced by steel needles, wishing it could tear itself apart.
