Having bypassed the massive Starry Sky City, Rod and Jessica walked for half a clock hour through the dense Black Fog before arriving at their destination, a place known as the Scar of Death Canyon.
However, when Rod saw it, he realized it was not a canyon, but rather a gaping fissure in the earth.
This unprecedented rift, thousands of yards wide, appeared endless, the vast opening reminiscent of a man-devouring demon, seemingly leading straight into a bottomless abyss.
Jessica glanced at the Star Disk.
"This is the place. Powerful Soul Devouring Demons, terrifying creatures evolved from the Black Fog itself, lurk in the canyon. They remain active and are extrely-sensitive to fluctuations in Spiritual Energy. They are a threat that must be eradicated."
Staring at the astonishing rift before him, Rod exclaid, "This is truly a spectacle wrought by nature."
Jessica shook her head subtly, "It might not be ford naturally. The Investigation Legion’s intelligence, which caught the attention of the scholars in the Royal City, suggests it might be related to the devastating war that toppled the Starry Sky City 1500 years ago, but it’s uncertain. Therefore, we have another mission here, to investigate the rift if circumstances allow."
In his mind, Asa suddenly laughed, "Hehehe, great inheritor of the Source Heavenly God, have you noticed? Every cliff face in the rift retains a strong scent of pollution and corrosion. Of course, this isn’t naturally ford, but cos from a strike by a dark and infinite power."
Rod frowned, already knowing what Asa was going to say.
"Hahaha, do you realize how insignificant you are now? You should temper your arrogance a bit, as I don’t want to see you et a quick and tragic end."
Rod spoke indifferently, "Asa, if you have sothing to say, just say it directly, unless you want to make this enjoyable ti painful."
Asa huffed coldly.
"Don’t always threaten with that. The great evil spirit root isn’t afraid of pain. I’m rely keeping my promise to you. I persistently believe the world will eventually plunge into eternal darkness, and nothing I do will change that. So why shouldn’t I find so amusent with you? Cough, cough, cough..."
The mont Rod showed a tendency to enter into a dream realm, Asa imdiately spoke.
"This place is clearly a relic of a battlefield. Aside from the Soul Devouring Demons ford by the Black Fog, you will also face monsters twisted and corrupted from the corpses of the strong."
Rod’s heart sank as he relayed Asa’s words to Jessica.
Jessica praised him, "Little Rod, your mind is so sharp. That is indeed possible. We must be cautious."
She walked to the edge of the canyon and looked down.
"Let’s descend from here, first aiming to find the comrades who fought here."
She leaped deeply, plunging directly into the bottomless canyon.
Rod followed imdiately, the thick Black Fog swirling around him, the intense corrosion penetrating the protection of the Red Tear Stone and causing his humanity to slowly decline.
"Drink the Purification Potion."
Jessica’s voice reached his ears.
Rod fished out an empty bottle and pretended to drink.
"I’ve drunk it."
"Little Rod, I didn’t hear the sounds of liquid and swallowing. I know your Soul Resistance is high, but don’t be frugal at this ti."
Rod could only extract a bottle of water from the dream realm and drank it down.
"Good, after landing, rember to follow my steps; we shouldn’t stay too long."
"I understand."
After an unknown duration, the two finally landed.
With a splat, mud splashed everywhere, a strong stench of decay assaulted them.
Jessica, however, seed unaffected as she dashed forward with a flicker.
Rod kept close behind her.
The canyon was gloomy beyond asure, the Black Fog much thicker than above ground, reducing Rod’s visibility to less than three hundred yards. Even so, he soon spotted the monster in the canyon.
It was a giant seemingly made from black mud, its body constantly lting and reforming, its facial features emitting intense red glows, the fiery red eyes like two red-hot iron balls, horrifying to behold.
"Is this a Soul Devouring Demon?"
Rod briefly described the scene he was witnessing.
Jessica’s slender eyebrows slightly raised, "Yes, this is a Soul Devouring Demon, the purest form of a Black Fog creature, with extrely potent corruption and erosion capabilities, inflicting severe damage to the soul. That’s why it’s called Soul Devouring Demon."
"What does the purest form of a Black Fog creature an?"
"It ans a creature born from the intrinsic properties of the Black Fog itself, not influenced by other properties or factors."
In his mind, the Book of Knowledge suddenly shouted, "They are symbiotes; these creatures are symbiotes of the Black Fog!"
Rod suddenly ca to a realization; no matter what creatures they are, their eventual fate in eternal silence is the sa.
The most corrupted creatures, those sinking into the deepest darkness, and those in the final stages of erosion are called symbiotes, terrifying guardians of the Black Fog, linked uniquely to the Black Fog.
After the source feedback spread, all that invaded the Dream Realm were symbiotes of the Black Fog.
Surprisingly, he had encountered a real symbiote in the Material World.
The Book of Knowledge yelled, "Master, kill them, not a single one should be spared; I’ve seen divinity, so much divinity. Kill their divinity, and also help humanity’s divinity."
