"It’s okay, I’m just a bit weak. Such a powerful strike, it cos with a price," he said.
Rod clearly felt his Spiritual Energy shrinking, his soul weak and feeble, a side effect of the Giant God Power. However, he sensed no other damage; the "Soul Burning" seed not to have caused him too much harm.
The Book of Knowledge spoke in his mind, "Using ’Bright Red Tears’ seems to have no significant side effects in the short term, it can be used as a temporary combat strategy."
Rod nodded. A stronger sensation of weakness swept up from the depths of his soul, and based on the strength he had just utilized, this weakness might last for seven to eight clock hours.
He was about to suggest a rest when he suddenly realized sothing, "Book, how co you suddenly know so much about my combat?"
The Book of Knowledge chuckled dryly, writing, "I have always been quite knowledgeable."
Rod glanced towards the Dream Realm and imdiately understood.
The puppet had awakened.
It sensed Rod’s will and gave a slight bow in the direction of the Obelisk.
"Great master, Aphro has awakened once more and is at your service any ti," it said.
Rod happily responded, "Aphro, you’re finally back. You have no idea how troubled I’ve been these days while you were dormant. I had so many matters with no one to discuss them with. The only slightly reliable one, Asa, is still an enemy."
The puppet calmly stated, "Using the enemy’s strength for one’s own benefit is the wisdom of the Master of Dreams."
Rod laughed, "Exactly. But Asa isn’t all that reliable either. He loses his mind at the sight of strong darkness and monsters. Look, he’s still suffering from the aftermath of his frenzy."
They communicated through consciousness, a conversation inaudible to anyone but themselves.
This was also an ability of Rod’s to control the Dream Realm: he could communicate with whover he desired and prevent any other from hearing.
The puppet said, "Asa is a fragnt of a powerful Dark Soul from ancient tis, filled with extre hatred. A soul ford from such a fragnt retains all the hatred and parts of the mories, inevitably growing into a human Traitor. After undergoing many reincarnations among humans and drifting from place to place, he has played the role of a grave-digger for humanity in many historical contexts, bringing imasurable loss to humanity. His Absolute Spiritual Power is not very high, but he possesses many bizarre abilities that allow for the unthinkable. Master must be cautious."
Rod nodded, "I know. I’ve had the Book of Knowledge keep watch. In the Dream Realm, Asa cannot stir any ripples, and I can even read his thoughts."
"I hope so," the puppet said flatly.
"During my absence, master, you have already stepped into the ranks of the Transcendents. Even during the Epoch when the Holy Fire was bright and humanity flourished, you would still be considered a mighty warrior."
"But the next invader is the Soul Devouring King, a stern challenge for us, and a step for us to climb further. We need enough Divinity to confront it," it continued.
Rod nodded. The Soul Devouring King was like the Sword of Damocles hanging over his head, and the countdown to the invasion like the numbers signaling his demise.
He must obtain enough Divinity in the battlefield of Starry Sky City.
If he could personally seize the Holy Fire Seed, that would be the best.
Of course, such an opportunity was not guaranteed, but he would strive for it.
Just like now.
"Teacher Soron, can we wait for seven to eight clock hours? I need so ti to recover," he said.
Soron exclaid in amazent, "Seven to eight clock hours? You can recover in just that ti? Is that all the price you pay for that overpowering strike?"
Rod touched his eyebrow, "Uh, is it small? Kashan also has such a powerful strike, and her price is much less than mine."
Soron shook his head, "It’s different for Kashan; you will understand in ti. The price of the Seed of Anger is far beyond your imagination. Anyway, are you sure you can recover in just seven to eight clock hours, with no long-term side effects or irreversible damage?"
Rod affird, "I’m certain."
Soron was ecstatic. He shouted, "Jessica, let’s find a hiding place and co back after eight clock hours."
Jessica questioned, "Is it alright with the timing?"
Soron waved his hand, "It’s fine. The Soul Devouring Demon is a very, very powerful monster. Born of the Black Fog and resonating with it, it has extrely powerful Spiritual Energy and an almost indestructible body... To be able to kill a Soul Devouring Demon in just eight clock hours, I daresay there are few who could achieve such efficiency. It took a full forty clock hours to kill my first Soul Devouring Demon, literally exhausting it to death, after drinking hundreds of Spiritual Power Potions, and it was before the Soul Devouring Demons were Enhanced."
He paused, his tone growing heavier,
"After Enhancent, the Soul Devouring Demons are far stronger than before. Having eliminated their weaknesses, they are almost impossible to defeat, yet Rod managed to kill it in one strike."
"Such a great accomplishnt, and you may not fully understand, but let just say this—Starry Sky Town gave until the Bright Festival to complete the task."
A hint of a smile appeared on Rod’s face, "There are twenty-one days left until the stars return and the Bright Festival arrives."
Soron looked up at the sky where endless darkness and thick Black Fog spread as far as the eye could see.
"It will be twenty days soon; the night hour is passing, and a new day is almost here."
Rod exclaid in surprise, "Teacher, can you actually see the Star Phase directly?"
Soron shook his head,
"How could I? It’s a deduction made from the changes in the Black Fog. Little Rod, you still have much to learn. You are the Guardian now, no longer the child who can act recklessly. You have beco our great tree."
