Now reading: Chapter 95 - 74 I Have Become Strong from The Last King Of Darkness, a Eastern novel by Mountains and rivers have no memory.

Shines explained impatiently:

"First of all, the Ash Digger School is a formal organization, and all its mbers are professionals, which is much better than you charging around in the sewers alone. If you fall into so indescribable place, we wouldn’t even be able to save you."

"Secondly, if you obtain certain research results, you will not only be rewarded but also gain honor and rit which will be recorded on your profile. This will benefit your future entry into the legion, job promotions, combat ratings, house purchases, and so on."

"Thirdly, even though you are qualified for combat, acting alone carries risks, and cooperating with a formal school is the best option."

The explanation was very clear and logical, and Rod understood it imdiately.

The arrangent was also very reasonable, turning a solitary adventure into a legitimate and profitable employnt, avoiding further nit-picking.

Worthy of being the Dean of Jinworth Academy.

Only a bit forgetful.

Perhaps he has too many things to think about, it’s the sa with all important figures.

Rod felt fortunate to have encountered such an enlightened Dean.

If the Dean had been an old-fashioned stickler for the rules, even if he did not hand him over, just by revoking his Hunter’s License and deducting fifty points from ten groups, he wouldn’t need to wait for an invasion; Kashan would have killed him upon his return.

Well, such an enlightened Dean should be able to hold the position for a few more decades.

After delivering the ssage, Shines showed no sign of leaving.

He looked at Rod seriously and said, "There’s sothing else, though His Excellency the Dean didn’t ntion it, but I guess he must have forgotten."

Rod nodded: "Quite normal, His Excellency the Dean is old and overworked."

"No, the situation is much more complicated than you think."

Shines’s expression was complex.

He didn’t continue on this topic but instead said:

"Starting today, you are a secret operative among the special students. This is an unexpected arrangent. The academy didn’t plan to confirm personnel so quickly, but due to many complex reasons, the situation cannot be changed anymore, and you will face significant risks; you should be ntally prepared."

Rod nodded, not too nervous.

After all, he had always been in danger, one more didn’t make much difference.

Appreciation flickered in Shines’s eyes.

"Little junior brother, you are quite impressive."

He patted Rod’s shoulder.

"You must work hard during this ti. Students like you who are combat-oriented typically grow quickly. You don’t have the problem of adapting from a greenhouse to a harsh outside world, and you might be better suited for the environnt of the secret branch troops."

"Alright, I’m going back."

So that’s how it was.

Rod suddenly understood why the Dean did not ask him why he snuck out, why he participated in the dangerous hunting mission.

There must be such types of people in the academy; they perform poorly in the greenhouse environnt and classroom, growing slowly, but in a harsh battle environnt, they can grow quickly.

To so extent, Rod indeed fit this type.

It’s just that his motivations differed from what they thought.

After the guy with the hairstyle left, Rod finally returned to his room.

He closed the door, set the spring needle, and aid it at the root of his thigh.

This needed to be done carefully, lest it hit the wrong spot.

Rod quickly lied down on the bed, made the lightning hand gesture, and his soul levitated into the air.

He had finally returned to the Dream Realm.

The pale mist flowed before his eyes, and the Obelisk stood quietly in the center of the world.

Directly in front of it was a cottage, and behind to the side was the black Soul Altar.

Rod imdiately saw the yellow-green fla floating above the altar.

It was slender, like the fla of a giant candle, much larger than the surrounding Soul Fires.

When Rod focused on it, its information flooded into his mind.

[Sufferer’s Soul from Ausway]

[Powerful Soul]

[From a sufferer in Ausway, fairly complete, possessing most of its strength.]

[The body of life and dreams is both plague and Phantom.]

Indeed, it was a strong soul.

A thrill went through Rod’s heart.

Good, he finally had all the ingredients for Soul Firewood.

But he didn’t proceed to make it right away; instead, he glanced at the back of his right hand.

The eye pattern there was incredibly realistic, lifelike.

Last ti, it was this pattern that summoned the Soul Altar.

What about this ti?

Rod approached the altar.

As expected, as soon as he got close, his hand started to heat up, the black lines that made up the eye boiled, and the eye broke free from the flesh turning into a big cloud of black mist that landed on the altar.

The black mist quickly dissipated, and no new altar appeared, but there was a new change on the original Soul Altar—

A reversed scythe.

The long curved blade extended upwards from below the altar, like a giant withered claw.

What is this?

Rod looked at it curiously, jumped onto the altar, and approached the scythe, its gleaming blade at his feet, half-embedded in the altar.

He gently touched the handle of the scythe.

A massive influx of information entered his mind instantly, just like when he had touched the Eye of the Soul before.

[Soul Blast]

A power to tear the veil of the Spirit, shatter the dark night of the soul, find the Soul’s flaw, and rip it apart.

It requires a flaw and can only be activated with the right hand.

The power is enhanced during the Full Moon.

——

Rod quickly read through the information, feeling very conflicted.

This was a skill similar to [Eye of the Soul], which he needed to activate to use.

The activation thod was simple; he only had to picture a specific scythe pattern in his mind, fill it with Spiritual Energy, and it would work.
