The drizzle that began in the morning continued until dusk, not stopping until the sun was nearly set, when the militia stationed in the nearby village finally arrived at the scene, much delayed.

Looking at the disarrayed forest, Sheriff Adela couldn't help but click his tongue, followed by Hephael, who murmured with difficulty.

"This is terrible."

Adela didn't respond, rely nodding his head, then turned his gaze toward the vine-covered "Skeleton Field."

Countless pale bones stood erect, their chilling appearance allowing him to guess the identity of the culprit.

Clearly, it was that lord.

Rather than concern himself with what everyone was whispering about, he only wanted to know the outco of the war, who had won.

At that mont, a militiaman carrying a firearm approached.

"Sir! We found a hunter! It seems he's from our town."

"Lead to him."

"Yes, sir!"

Looking at the now clear sky, Adela took off his stifling raincoat and handed it to the militia captain following behind him, then walked toward the nearby riverbank.

Several militian were surrounding a man who looked like a hunter, whose sneaky appearance suggested he was an unauthorized poacher.

This was actually quite common.

If every hunter earnestly took their ga to the lord's hunting lodge for processing, they would even have to pay out of pocket to buy at from the butcher.

Just as farrs would take up odd bits of land to cultivate their gardens, most of the ti the lord turned a blind eye to these thieves.

However, as a sheriff, seeing this ant he still had to say sothing.

"What are you doing here?"

Recognizing the officer's face, Levink said nervously.

"I—I ca back to pick up my axe that I dropped."

What a character.

Also a "timber thief".

Adela raised his eyebrows.

"An axe?"

Levink nodded nervously, still holding a glimr of hope as he spoke.

"Yes, my axe was here, but it was missing when I ca back... Did you see it?"

"We didn't see a single iron-clad thing at the scene," Adela glanced behind him, then turned to him and inquired, "How did you lose your axe? Do you rember?"

Levink nodded frantically, his eyes seeming to reveal the panic he felt at that ti.

"A—a dragon..."

Adela furrowed his brows.

"A dragon?"

Levink nodded nervously, stamring as he spoke.

"Yes! A huge dragon... its head was taller than the pine trees here! Not just that, it also spewed great flas, setting fire everywhere in the entire forest!"

Adela stared into his eyes, trying to sift through what was true and what was a lie.

"How far were you from it at the ti?"

Levink replied nervously.

"About two or three hundred ters... I'm not sure, how could I possibly calculate that kind of thing? Anyway, it was beyond my shooting range."

"Anything else? Besides the dragon, did you see anything else?"

"There were so lizards and undead, but I couldn't see them very clearly."

Looking at the honest-looking hunter, Adela continued to press.

"Who won in the end?"

Levink's breath hitched, as he reflexively recalled the situation at that ti, eventually shaking his head with a wry smile.

"I don't know, how could I possibly know, but I guess the dragon lost... After all, if such a huge creature had flown away, I would definitely have seen it. Later, as I ran, I couldn't hear its roars anymore; when I ca back, it had completely disappeared, probably laid down."

A very simple judgnt.

Indeed, there were huge claw marks and traces of a giant creature trampling the ground at the scene.

Not only that, the entrance to the labyrinth had also been destroyed one, perhaps by the dragon as well.

Adela fell into thought, trying to reconstruct the scene in his mind, feeling there wasn't much problem with what this guy said.

He just hadn't expected that the lord had the ability to slay a dragon.

This was probably even stronger than Duke Campbell...

This irreverent thought had just appeared in his mind when he shook his head to dismiss it.

How could a man compare to a god?

He was being foolish himself.

Seeing the silent officer, Hephael felt he should say sothing, but after thinking for a long ti, he only managed to ask a question that even he thought was stupid.

"Why didn't you go take a closer look?"

Levink stared at him with a strange expression, unable to resist saying.

"Sir, that was a dragon, not a wolf or bear... If I didn't make so distance, would you expect to slay a dragon with an axe?"

I'm a hunter, not a militiaman; why should I care so much?

The more Levink thought about it, the more indignant he felt.

This "shield loser" had so nerve to ask!

Whether Abel had encountered a Witch Demon that day was still under debate, but this guy's encounter with two skeleton soldiers was confird!

Levink felt there was nothing shaful about his escape; he was just a hunter who wanted to secretly chop so firewood to take ho.

Fearing misunderstandings, he hadn't even brought a bow and arrows with him!

Adela patted Hephael's shoulder, signaling him to leave it to himself, then continued speaking to the old hunter.

"Did you find your axe?"

Levink trembled and shook his head.

"No."

"Then stop looking and go ho," Adela glanced around and whispered, "In na, this is also Baron Ges's territory, that miser wouldn't like hearing about soone secretly chopping his trees, unless you're also a dragon... So you know what to say and what not to say, right?"
