On the fourth level of the Maze, Arist's furious voice echoed through every corridor, the shattering sound much like the half-collapsed ground beneath Luo Yan's feet.
The god, driven mad, had already fused with the entire Maze.
The walls were his skin, the red mist his breath.
He could clearly "see" everything happening inside the Maze, yet it was precisely those scenes that drove him into a frenzy!
The massacre he had envisioned did not occur.
Those fearless Undead, unbelievably, stood alongside the bewildered Magic Apprentices.
The skeletons ford a solid defensive line with their fragile fras, perfectly compensating for the apprentices' weakness in lee combat.
They sacrificed themselves to teach the living behind them a final lesson in courage.
Arist could not accept this.
His ticulously arranged army of Wailing was being defeated by this hastily assembled Alliance Army!
Without these three thousand pure Soul Fires, he could not achieve his grand plan to advance to the Purple Crystal Level, much less slay that capricious clown in front of him!
"Roxey Colin! What on earth did you do?" Arist roared in a rage, as the dense red mist in the Maze fluctuated with his emotions.
Dark red fleshy tendrils suddenly shot out from the ground beneath Luo Yan, attempting to enwrap and devour him like thick thorns.
However, just as the endless tendrils were about to close in, they withered at a visibly rapid pace, like wilting flowers.
Black embers burned on the ashes.
Luo Yan waved his hand lightly, dispersing the pure black fire in his palm, not even glancing at the ashes beneath his feet, and said unhurriedly.
"From my observation of Aus Continent's history, the rise of a faith is inevitably accompanied by blood and savagery. However, building a towering High Tower solely on the bones and souls of mortals can never beco an eternal Temple. To stand atop the Mortal World, the process can be convoluted, but ultimately must guide people towards goodness."
Objectively speaking, Saint Sis was undoubtedly quite advanced in the First Epoch.
Most deities, including the Netherworld God, were based on mythology, or primitive religions and witchcraft founded on animism. Compared to the unattainable deities, the Elental Gods, being humanized, seed more like emotionally-driven Kings, and the doctrines were mostly in a state of "believe if you want."
Only Saint Sis used the Holy Word Book to educate the Barbarians, elevating the Divine while restraining the followers, promising them their deepest longing — or rather desire — a grand wish to "eliminate death."
Whether this wish was possible to fulfill or not, it was enough that most people believed it could be realized.
The Holy Word Book did not focus solely on death; it promised other achievable goals, such as providing bread for most people.
A thousand years ago, that was a genuine "luxury item," although nowadays one could buy a loaf for 5 copper coins.
In contrast, the Demon God of Hell indeed falls short compared to Saint Sis in this regard.
He too made promises, but those promises were filled with hatred and destruction, even though Saint Sis's followers often had a hypocritical and cruel side, the Demon God's followers mostly acted inhuman, so much so that humans may be corrupted by demons, yet they'd never move to Hell. On the other hand, the demons of Demon City, upon their defeat, would first think of escaping to the humans' territories.
Back then, Elder Zakro had arranged his escape this way, unfortunately, unable to resist doing one last big job before leaving, otherwise, with Goliath's indulgence, he might have really escaped.

Arist, sneering, continued to cast spells, transforming the cold rocks into more vast tendrils, launching a fierce attack on Luo Yan standing in the corridor.
Luo Yan nonchalantly neutralized his attack and also conveniently blocked two hits for Sarah, which she might not have avoided.
"Did I ever say they weren't?"
Arist was stunned; his violent offensive paused montarily; clearly, he hadn't expected Colin to admit to this serious accusation so directly.
It disrupted not just his montum but also his train of thought. He kept talking, but his words seed to spill out in a bewildered ss.
That appearance was indeed much like a Taufu in a defensive breakdown state.
"Tsk tsk, who would have thought the honorable Prince Colin is actually an Undead Mage, do you rember the oath you swore before the Holy Light? Oh... I almost forgot, you sold your soul to Chaos long ago! And before !"
Upon hearing Arist's faint-hearted mockery, he lightly chuckled.
"What are you talking about? Just because you got stronger with the Red Stone, it doesn't an everyone stronger than you is better with Red Stones."

As for Chaos, this guy probably mistook Solipsi civilization's "Ether" as the "Deceitful Fog" that Novel holds exclusive rights to.
If we really calculate genealogy, who's whose ancestor isn't for sure yet.

Who would have expected this prince to be so crude, Arist got thoroughly furious, ignoring any professorial deanor, spewing all the nasty curses he could muster.
