Luo Yan knew what that eager look ant, the little one rely wanted to convey the "majesty" of the Dragon God through him.
Yet is the Demon King soone who "pockets unearned gold"?
No doubt, he is.
But rather than clarifying misunderstandings and praising the long-frozen Dragon God, there are more important things to do.
Such as, soothing a wounded soul.
The curtain of the carriage was lifted by a slender hand, revealing a handso and gentle face that montarily left Carian spellbound.
However, she quickly looked down.
Not out of embarrassnt, just because she felt that taking an extra glance at a descended Angel was an offense to the Divine.
Though Saint Sis hadn't carved his na into the snow, it was without doubt that this lord sought justice for her.
"My lord..." She tried to express her thanks with a trembling voice, but was stopped.
"I am no lord, just a... traveler like you."
Ignoring the impotent rage of the "Dragon God," Luo Yan looked at the girl kneeling on the cold ground and continued in a gentle tone.
"The ground is cold, stand up."
Carian hesitated for a mont but obediently stood up, still with her head down, not daring to et the gaze of the respected lord.
"What is your na?" Luo Yan's voice remained gentle, his finger lightly moved, and a blanket floated over to cover her muddy shoulders.
Feeling the warmth on her shoulders, Carian shiveringly raised her head to glance at him gratefully, then lowered her head again.
She whispered.
"Carian... Sir, I'm Carian."
It seems she indeed went by that na.
Luo Yan could sense she regarded him as Saint Sis's ssenger, and a believer would never dare lie before the Divine.
"Carian, it's a good na."
After repeating her na, Luo Yan gazed towards the distant South, then spoke gently, "So Carian, you are safe now, what are your plans next? Would you tell ?"
Tightening the blanket on her shoulders, Carian spoke in a trembling voice.
"I... plan to go South."
"Specifically?"
"I, I don't know... I haven't thought of where to go, but I can't return ho, at least I have to leave the Northern Duke's territory..."
Seeing Carian stamr, Luo Yan patiently said.
"I an, after you go South, then what? What do you plan to do?"
This question left Carian stunned again.
She raised her head once more, and this ti, the eyes that had witnessed miracles appeared more confused than ever.
Do what?
She had never pondered this question.
From the mont she was sold off, escaping was her sole thought, and the only hope sustaining her vitality.
Regarding life after escape, she had no extra capacity to contemplate. Before her life underwent earth-shattering change, she was rely a farr's daughter.
She also didn't know what she was capable of.
After a brief silence, Carian shook her head, her eyes carrying a trace of uncertain hope, she answered hesitantly, "I... I don't know, sir. But I believe once I leave here and reach a new place, there will always be a way to survive."
It's said that place is the Land of Knights.
Presumably, the moral standards there are higher than those among the Luo De people.
Listening to this naive answer, Luo Yan's smile didn't change, yet his gaze revealed a trace of deep sigh.
A pretty girl without skills, alone in an unfamiliar foreign land, seems hardly worth guessing what she could do.
Apparently, before the "evil winds and sinister influences" spread from the Demon King to the North, the Northern Realm's ones seem to have already reached the Campbell Duchy first...
Of course, perhaps they blew over long ago.
"Poor child."
The words were softly spoken, yet they pierced Carian's heart like an invisible needle.
She didn't understand why, despite having escaped the cage to gain rebirth, this gentleman would look at her with such a sympathetic gaze.
Those deep eyes seed to have foreseen her tragic future, stirring in her an indescribable fear, sweeping away the joy of survival.
Driven by the instinct to survive, she took a step forward and pleaded, "Sir, what should I do? Can you give so advice?"
Luo Yan's gaze landed on that tear-stained, dirt-laden face, not directly answering, instead asking a seemingly unrelated question.
"Can you accept poverty? And abandon all worldly desires, dedicating your life to faith."
This question left Carian stunned again.
Not that this choice was particularly difficult, but because she was inherently devoid of those things.
Coming back to her senses, she nodded without hesitation, her eyes filled with unprecedented determination.
"Sir, I can!"
"Very well," Luo Yan's face finally revealed a genuine smile, "Then you could beco a nun."
"Nun?"
Carian stared blankly at Colin, seemingly not expecting to hear that word, her eyes turning hesitant and confused.
"But... I haven't read the Holy Word Book."
This statent was still too conservative, she couldn't even recognize words.
However, Colin simply shook his head.
"That's not important."
"But..."
Carian opened her mouth, wanting to say that no priest had baptized her, nor would any church accept soone with unclear identity and origins.
The selection for nuns had a rigorous process, and being just a village girl, she didn't even know what the process was.
Yet, the gentleman seed to see through her inner confusion, dispelling all her doubts with his gentle and affirmative voice.
"I approve."
In an instant, all her anxiety vanished, even the vast forest and snowy plains had beco clear and transparent.
Since Saint Sis nodded.
It seems the matters I worried about really no longer mattered...
He agreed.
