Now reading: Chapter 1538 440: Sword Saint from the Brass Pass (Part 3) from The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!, a Action novel by Morning Star Ll.

He did not understand those complex things, but he could see clearly who could keep him fed, and he would support them as Lord.

No matter whether that Lord was called Lord or not.

As a devout Luo De person, standing from Gunter's perspective, this kind of "no king, no minister" rhetoric was undoubtedly treasonous, even deserving the na of heretic.

However, after seeing the real heretics, he instead felt that although these people were sowhat ignorant, they were not entirely bad.

At least they were well-fed, and their bowls were not filled with their kin; what they carried in their hearts was still faith in the Holy Light.

Thus, such Chaos corruption could not invade here, even if they needed correction as heretics, it was not an urgent matter and could be postponed…

Gunter did not intend to comnt on the Holy Daughter and Holy Light ntioned by the old peasant, but rely pointed to a few skeleton soldiers not far away, "communicating" with bone heads, and asked with an incomprehensible tone his final confusion.

"What's going on with those Undead? Are they… also the Salvation Army?"

Old Hank seed to have anticipated this outsider's question, with a mysterious smile appearing on his face as though a secret he'd been sharing all along had finally been uncovered.

"Oh, you lack insight! That's not Undead, it's Holy Spirit!"

Do I lack insight?

Gunter was montarily stunned, profoundly impacted internally.

He never expected, having traveled far and wide to so many places and left a legendary tale as thick as an epic, to be told that he lacked insight one day?

But after so reflection, he indeed had never seen such capable Undead; this was an exceptional case in his adventuring career…

"Holy Spirit… what is it?" He finally set aside the sword saint's pride and humbly inquired of the old peasant before him.

"It's our ancestors!" Old Hank chuckled, looking at the rcenary in front of him, "To be honest, my grandpa… is another Old Hank, could possibly be among them! They couldn't bear to see the children suffer, so they petitioned Saint Sis to let them live again to help us rebuild our ho! It's said that once our village is completed, the ssenger of Saint Sis will take them away… But honestly, I really don't want to let them go!"

As he spoke, he pointed again to the skeletal figures moving bricks not far away.

"Look at them, how hard they work, tirelessly all day, much stronger than us living people! Praise my ancestors!"

Upon hearing these words, Gunter couldn't help but recall the few Undead he saw at the village entrance.

The Soul Fire burning within their skulls was indeed more complete than typical wandering souls or wild spirits, and without the scent of chaos or evil.

Clearly, they were not controlled by an Undead Mage, but were acting by their own will.

As for why their souls were so complete… it seems only the theory dispatched by Saint Sis could explain it.

At least this was not sothing magic could achieve.

Combining these clues, Gunter ca to a conclusion he could barely accept — these Undead were indeed different from what he had known.

He also felt imnsely relieved that he hadn't acted rashly; otherwise, that would have been a well-intentioned blunder, and he wouldn't know how to explain it to the villagers.

Standing beside Gunter, Julian was similarly greatly shocked, but contrary to Gunter in front of him, he found it much easier to accept.

He hadn't been to as many places as Gunter; this was even his first ti leaving Grey Stone Town to travel to the Sparrow Wood Territory by the Twilight City.

Perhaps the Undead outside Grey Stone Town were like this.

At least the Undead of Wheat Field Village… oh no, the Holy Spirit is like this!

"Judging by your looks, are you from a far-off place?" Seeing that the outsider did not continue the conversation, Old Hank warmly continued, "By the way, I'm Hank, everyone calls Old Hank. I haven't asked your na, what's your na?"

Gunter glanced at Julian, who was curiously observing the surroundings, and briefly responded.

"I'm Gunter, a rcenary, currently… wandering with my adopted son. I plan to find a place here to stock up on dry goods and water, maybe head to Twilight City next."

"Oh, a rcenary…" Old Hank scratched his head, sowhat embarrassed, "Then buying things will be difficult, we've just settled down here, and there are no rchants. But we do have food…"

As he spoke, he warmly pointed to another side of the village, toward the direction where the cooking smoke rose.

"Right over there, that's the Salvation Army's porridge distributing spot! The Holy Lady said that anyone with an empty belly can go there to get a bowl of hot porridge! You two should hurry, everyone's almost done eating at this ti, too late and it'll be cold!"

Gunter nodded in acknowledgnt, once more thanking the elder nad Old Hank, then took Julian with him toward the direction of the porridge spot.

True to Old Hank's words, there were hardly any people there, only a short queue remaining, with the firewood for cooking porridge already removed.

However, this didn't affect anything.

When he and Julian received their food, the wheat porridge in the bowl was still hot, even a bit scalding.

The soldiers of the Salvation Army were amiable and did not treat them stingily just because they were unfamiliar faces, even smiling as they added an extra scoop to Julian's bowl.

"Young guy's pretty strong, eat more."

"Thank you!"

"No need to thank ; just thank the Holy Daughter and the Divine Son! By the way, is that your father next to you? The tall guy with the sword; you two don't look alike."
