Now reading: Chapter 9 - 3 Long ago, a thousand years in the past, someon from The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!, a Action novel by Morning Star Ll.

Just as Luo Yan had guessed, this guy was here to pull a scam. With his strength, even if he took a running start from the top floor, he wouldn't stand a chance at knocking over a Diamond Level Enchanting Demon, let alone injuring her.

However, considering the Gold Level ring, he did show Professor Lillith a mont of subdued respect.

Moreover, this lady had sohow learned about the recomndation letter Principal Ai Wen had sent out for him so quickly.

In every sense, her power was not to be underestimated...

Thinking thus, Luo Yan walked to Professor Enos's door, pausing deliberately for a while, but seeing that the door remained closed after a long wait, he left, disappointed...

...

The Demon King Academy's dormitory wasn't far from the west tower, and it was a huge five-story mansion.

Of course, to human aesthetic standards, this aged mansion looked exactly like the haunted houses from stories.

The statues at the entrance of the dorm were gargoyles, the maids doing the cleaning were low-level demons, the plants in the flowerpots were man-eating flowers, and the vines climbing the walls were man-eating ivy... though they seed not to have grown to the point of actually being able to eat a person.

Additionally, the paintings hanging on one side of the corridor were alive, much like the newspapers in Demon City.

They were far more powerful than the newspapers of Demon City though, with the scope of their activity not limited to the confines of their fras, occasionally appearing on the mirrors in the washroom.

Just as he was washing his face, Luo Yan saw a woman in white with her eyes gouged out standing behind him.

"Good evening, Mrs. Susanna."

She was said to be a human prophet who had been eyeball gouged and hanged to death by a loyal lord for prophesying the death of a certain king.

Later, in a war between Hell and humanity, she was reborn as a banshee and successfully killed the lord who had hanged her as well as the king the lord served.

In so sense, her prophecy indeed ca true.

Later still, in one battle, she was almost completely obliterated by the Holy Light from a Priest of the Holy Sis Church.

Now reduced to a re wisp of a soul, she was even less capable than a regular ghost and couldn't wander about, only able to sit on the wheelchair—that is, the paintings and mirrors of the Demon King Academy dormitory—crafted for her by the Principal.

At first, Luo Yan found it hard to adapt, but over ti he got used to it and even started greeting these spirits.

The mature woman paused for a long while before sighing,

"For , it's morning only when the sun rises and the moon sets..."

"But there's no sun in Hell, right?" Luo Yan dried his face and responded absently.

The woman in the mirror was silent for a long ti, and gradually, crimson blood began to flow from her hollow eye sockets.

It was a bit scary, but compared to Professor Enos's frightening gaze, it still fell short; Luo Yan could give her at most 50 points.

However, Mrs. Susanna didn't seem to be trying to scare him but appeared to be genuinely reminiscing about sothing.

"Ah... I would really like to see it one more ti."

Sighing mournfully, she faded away from the mirror in the n's washroom like a wisp of smoke...

...

Hell originally had no day and night cycle, and most demons didn't even have the habit of sleeping at night—so slept for days on end while others simply didn't sleep at all.

And the Undead, it is said, can go completely without sleep.

However, thanks to the persistence of those old stick-in-the-muds from the surface world, like Principal Avin Krueger, the first Demon God at least installed a massive Purple Crystal Ceiling above Demon City, which used the thermal energy from the underground magma to power the magical runes within the ceiling, simulating the day and night cycle with the light of the purple moon.

The ceiling was rumored to have been stolen from a Dwarf's castle, and to this day, the Dwarves still hold a grudge over it.

Currently, the moonlight outside the window had been extinguished, signifying nightti for demons.

Here, the day and night were the exact opposite of the surface world.

Luo Yan sat by the window and, after much thought, decided to write a letter to his godfather and adoptive father, Mr. Geoffrey, explaining the day's events and his impending journey to a notably dangerous Demon King Territory that had its core destroyed and thus had no na.

He omitted the part about the Enchanting Demon.

Although he was grateful for Lady Lillith's help, Priest Geoffrey Mount had a strong dislike for Enchanting Demons.

I really want to know what he went through when he was young.

"...Dear Mr. Geoffrey, once again I send you my greetings, and that concludes my experiences for today."

"Also, I've run out of living expenses..."

There is no concept of work-study in Hell, nor is there any place where university students can distribute flyers, deliver takeout, or pick up parcels.

Although one can work for a professor, that's often not a good idea for humans.

The law is the law.

Sharing a room over the long term with a Diamond Level demon, who knows what accidents might happen.

Luo Yan didn't want to ask for money, but he really had no other choice, he certainly couldn't commit himself to Lady Lilith.

What about Professor Enos?

He never even considered it.

After finishing the letter, Luo Yan folded it neatly, rolled it up and stuffed it into a thumb-sized copper tube, then pressed the bell on the windowsill.

"Dingling—"

A night bat as big as a teddy bear swiftly landed on the windowsill, staring at him with its dark mouse-like eyes, and elegantly kicked out its right foot.

Luo Yan attached the copper tube to the leather strap on its right foot.

"Deliver to Temple at 104 Elm Street in the Demon City's western district... for Priest Geoffrey Mount to receive."

The bat squeaked in understanding, then shot off like an arrow towards the dull sky.

Luo Yan watched it disappear before moving away from the window and going back to the oak desk beside his bed.

Looking at the pile of books, he couldn't help but let out a sigh.

"Who would've thought my three years of university life would co to an end so quickly..."

A Bronze Level Demon King.

Hopefully the heroes who co to vanquish him won't break character...

To avoid a aningless ending, Luo Yan gathered his spirits, picked up the notes of King Isaac IV and the Hell Language translation written by Professor Avin many years ago for these notes.

Although he didn't believe he could comprehend in just ten days or half a month the secrets that Professor Avin had studied for decades without deciphering, understanding so history would still help him infiltrate—or rather, integrate into the local society.

With a last-minute effort attitude, he opened both the notebook and the translation, ready to cross-reference and mull over the details.

However, when he saw the first line of the original text of King Isaac IV's diary, he was stunned on the spot.

[In the year 77 of the Os calendar, December 12th, my two older brothers were killed by assassins they sent for each other, my father died of a stroke on the front lines. I was lying in the Duchess's bed and inexplicably beca the King of the Ryan Kingdom. My servants thought the kingdom was dood, and coincidentally, I thought the sa.]

[24 years have passed since I arrived in this world, and I never imagined such outrageous things happening to . I much preferred doing things a transmigrator should do, like flirting with the Duchess who had her eyes on , or researching perfus and soaps to cover up foul slls...]

[Oh well, worrying is useless. But if one day I ss up, at least people should know that the downfall of the Ryan Kingdom wasn't due to its king being too lucky with ladies, but because everyone here has problems, all kinds of problems... So I've decided to start keeping a diary.]

[Ah... Writing in my native language for now should help, since it would be troubleso if these natives understood. This way, when I decide to publish this diary one day, it will be convenient for to refine the details, hehehe.]

"...Chinese characters?"

Wait—

The so-called cryptic language is actually Chinese?!

Regaining his senses, Luo Yan stood up abruptly, knocking over the chair behind with a clang.

"What the heck—! "

A fellow countryman?!

(Thanks to "Tang Sumu," for the leader's reward!!!! The first leader, hehehe!)
